"Dreams vs. Nightmares"
by Neutron Phantom
Author's Note: Hey everyone! This is my first Teen Titans fanfic! I've written many Jimmy Neutron ones and a few Danny Phantom, so I decided to give a try at my other fandom! And I know it's really really short, but still fluffy, nonetheless! It was sorta hard to make it long, and I have no idea why...
Summary: Starfire has never had a nightmare before until now, and Robin has to explain them to her.
Disclaimer: I don't own Teen Titans, otherwise I really wouldn't be writing fanfics...
Starfire pushed herself up as her emotions took her into the air. "You will NOT win, older sister!" Starfire moaned her battle cry as loud as she could as her emerald eyes lit up with anger. "You may have escaped from prison under knorfka's reign, but you will not harm my friends!" Starfire flew at lightning speed towards her older sibling, throwing starbolts at her with both hands.
Blackfire moved swiftly out of the way as she stopped in mid flight. "I don't have to," she smirked. "I've got an army doing that for me as we fight. Pretty soon the Teen Titans will be destroyed and you'll be a prisoner once more, and you can't do anything about it!"
"No! They will fight back! I know they will! Why are you doing this!" Starfire cried out.
"It's called revenge. I told you I was coming back for it. As for your little friends, I'm sure they're getting what they deserve right about now." Blackfire's evil smile was from ear to ear.
Robin had woken up in the middle of the night from his light sleep with a need for a drink of water. He quietly slipped out of his room to make sure he wouldn't wake any of the Titans and headed towards the kitchen. He reached for a clean glass from the cupboards and turned on the faucet. He filled the glass halfway and took a sip. Robin shut off the kitchen lights and went back down the hallway.
He passed Starfire's room and smiled, thinking of the most beautiful girl in the world sleeping peacefully. But Robin heard frightened noises coming from inside. Sheets were ruffling and it sounded like Starfire was shooting her starbolts everywhere.
Concerned, Robin opened her door an inch to peer inside. Starfire's tan legs were kicking her pink sheets all over her bed and emerald blasts flew from her hands. Robin had to duck to avoid being hit. She was rolling back and forth moaning "No! No!" He raced over to her bed and tried to wake her. Robin sat his glass of water down on her bedside table.
"Star! Wake up! It's okay, it's all a nightmare!"
"No, I won't let you hurt him -" she said, sleeptalking.
Robin shook her gently. "Star, wake up, no one is getting hurt!" Starfire's body stopped moving and she stopped moaning. Her frightened green eyes slowly opened and she sat up.
"Friend Robin, be careful, Blackfire is seeking revenge and her army is - wait, how did I get back into my room so very fast, and why does my room look like it was hit with a thousand meteors?" Starfire's eyes scanned her smoking pink and purple room in curiosity.
Robin cracked a small smile as he sat on the edge of her bed. "You never left your room. Star, you were having a nightmare. Everything is fine. You must have been blasting something with your starbolts." He pushed a strand of her auburn hair behind her ear as Starfire relaxed a bit.
Starfire was still confused. "Oh, I see. Robin, what is nightmare? I've never had a night-mare before..."
"You've had good dreams, haven't you Star? Well, they're just the opposite."
Starfire nodded. "Dreams are movies playing in your head during the sleep, which Raven has told me are not real when I shared them with her. So, if dreams are the opposite of these nightmares, then nightmares are real? That means Blackfire has escaped and issending her army to kill us! We must stop her Robin!" Starfire was about to leap from her bed when he grabbed her arm and held her back.
Robin chuckled. "No Starfire. I didn't mean that they're real. I meant that nightmares are scary while dreams are pleasant. And I'm sure Blackfire is still locked in prison. Do you understand now?"
Blushing embarassedly, she nodded. "Robin, I'm scared. What if I have another one of these 'bad dreams'? I don't want to be alone. Will you stay with me, friend Robin? I feel safe when you are around." Her small lips parted into a smile.
Robin mirrored her smile. "Okay, but only for tonight." Starfire scooted over in her small bed to make room for Robin. The two Titans sat up against Starfire's headboard above her bed. Robin slipped his arm around her slender shoulders as she yawned. He turned his head to face her as Robin kissed Star's forehead.
"Why did you kiss me on the forehead? I thought on Earth you kiss on the lips to show affection instead of learning the language..." Starfire asked softly as she was growing tired once again.
"Well Star," Robin blushed, "if you want to get technical, I guess that's true, but you can also kiss on cheeks and foreheads to not be as affectionate and still show that you care very much about the person."
Starfire looked up at Robin with tired eyes and a smile that said she understood. She lay her head on Robin's shoulder, finally closing her eyes and whispering to him, "Robin, I wouldn't let my older sister hurt you in my nightmare. I love you too much."
Robin ran his hands through her silky red curls and smiled. "I know Star. I love you, too." His eyes felt heavy, and soon he drifted off to a soft slumber in harmony with Starfire. Neither of them had nightmares, only dreams of each other.
So, what did you think? I thought it was okay for being my first TT fic... Like I said, it's really short. But hey, what can you do when thats all the idea that you have? XD
