Curse

V For Vendetta; 150 word drabble by Eccentric Banshee

She was there when he got home, sprawled out on one of the couches, pretending to read an old classic. She glanced up at him in acknowledgement, then returned to the book.

A wicked smile curving her mouth as she flipped a page, she remarked, “Too bad there aren’t any curse words that begin with v.”

“Evey, please,” he chastised tiredly, “refrain from such vulgarity.” He knew that she knew that despite the reprimand, there was a small smile hidden behind the mask, a smile he was careful not to let into his voice for the fear of encouraging her.

She knew, though, and wasn’t making much of an attempt to hide her grin. As per usual when she made him smile behind the cheerfully-grinning façade, though, both ignored it. It kept things slightly simpler, which was a slight reprieve from the complications of their relationship

The moment passed by.
