ARTEMIS FOWL: A LOVE STORY

A month had already passed ever since the late Commander Root’s death and ex-captain Holly Short’s refusal to be back in duty under the new Commander’s management. She had started a private eye with Mulch Diggums, a hairy and by now old, mine dwarf. But things didn’t go well for them. The only cases that were brought to them were those of lost pets and the sort though soon even those cases were no longer, their profits became low driving the dwarf back to his old ways and the elf reconsider the option of actually returning to the one place her whole life had once consisted of…The LEP.
Now she sat in front the new Commander, her hazel eyes fixed on his face, her hands atop her lap curled into tiny fists, and her now grown auburn hair blowing this way and that along with the movement of the specialized fan on the background created, of course, by the centaur, Foaly.

“So…you’ve finally decided to return….” The new Commander said a smile stretched across his face. “Yes” Holly replied blankly never taking her eyes off him and much the less flinch like many others would have done while being under the gaze of this cold hearted creature. He leaned forward his eyebrows raised “and what makes you think I will take you back?” he asked in a mocking tone as though trying to make her feel inferior. “because…I am the only one with enough experience to take down the only human that has gotten through a mind wipe, kidnapped a fairy, used the people to his pleasure, and befriended an LEP officer…you need me…if he comes back and I’m not an officer….you will have to get help from someone else ..and knowing the great Artemis Fowl….he will stop at nothing to gain whatever it is he wants…so you see…think about it…you have five minutes…” and now as she stood to leave she saw the one thing she never thought would happen. He took a softnose laser pointing it at her.
It’s alright Holly…keep your cool…everything will be fine…she thought.

“A softnose laser?” she asked her eyebrows raised “were they all not destroyed?” He glared at her hate evident in his eyes “I am a commander! I can get anything I want! And I receive orders from no one but the council!” She let her eyebrows fall as she shook her head gently “my, my commander aren’t we in a bad mood eh? But you see…I believe I just gave you an order and as things were said my guess will be that you will give in to my… proposal” she said before walking out the door without looking back.

A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER

Holly walked into Foaly’s new and improved office with a tired expression. Everything had been so boring for the past few days, all she ever did was paper work and arrest some annoying, uncontrollable goblins and in her opinion this was a living hell. Foaly looked up just as Holly walked in and smiled “Holly, You’re on brake?” she nodded slowly as if she nodded faster her whole body would be in great pain. He frowned at the sight of his friend, shaking his head gently he said “ Holly, why are you here?” she looked up with a fake smile and answered “I just wanted somewhere to be at…a place where no one would bother me..” he nodded slowly. Soon a grin appeared on his face as he quickly moved to a near-by desk taking out a bottle from under it with a blue liquid in it. “What’s that?” she asked.

“Tell me Holly, do you miss the mud boy?...Artemis?” there was silence after the question, a deep, cold silence. After several seconds she nodded “then go to him!” he said.

“I can’t…I don’t belong there…besides… the council will never allow it…” she replied. “Oh Holly! But you will be like them!... and the council will not refuse!...” “Foaly stop talking nonsense.. ” “Listen, I’ve developed a potion that will turn you human…permanently… you would still have your powers… and would still need to do the ritual but you would be a human... the council cannot refuse!” she thought about it for a couple of minutes in silence until she finally decided to do what her heart was telling her to do….become human……
