Author of 5 Stories |
Now, I got this idea from a user from FictionPress. Yeah, the beginning of the story is similar but that’s the only thing that’s actually similar to the story. The rest will be different and that there will be pretty much a lot of romance and all that…yeah…by the way, if anyone knows the game ‘Fatal Frame’ just to say, it’s referenced in this chapter! And y’know how in Naruto, there is an Academy? Well in my story, Naruto and the others are fifteen and still go to school, and what I mean by school is…well think of it has Academy HIGH school…only that it’s a boarding boy school. Well please review, thank you!
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or the idea that has given me the idea to write this story.
Beyond The Eyes
Chapter I: Transfer
The coast was clear, cold and quiet. The night was always cold in the village of Konoha. A large dark building was standing right before five figures. The moonlight flashed on their backs, making it hard to see them fully and only see shadows ahead of you. Making them seem very suspicious, like ninjas on a mission. The five pair of eyes was focused on the building.
“YOSH!” One of the shadows threw a fist in the air, “I can’t believe we’re actually doing this! I feel like a ninja playing manhunt!” The same voice chuckled in excitement. One of the other figures slapped the other figure upside the head, “Ow! Sasuke-teme! What’d you do that for!”
“You’re going to blow our cover, dobe. It’s possible someone can be guarding the school so we have to be quiet.” Sasuke said coldly.
“Man, this is so exciting! It’s like we’re on a mission, only that we’re the bad guys this time…” Another voice said, a voice that belonged to Lee, “So our plans are completely full-proof right?”
“Sure.” Another dark voice answered, who turned out to be Neji.
“And we all have what we need right?” Lee asked once again.
“Yup; we have the gloves, flashlights, we have the school keys, courtesy of Neji…” Shikamaru said lazily as he glanced at Neji,
“Shikamaru’s 200 IQ,” Neji added.
“Sasuke’s getaway plans,” Lee said cheerfully.
“Lee’s uncompounded enthusiasm,” Naruto said with a grin.
“And the dobe’s stupidity…” Sasuke finished.
“HEY!” A vein popped up on Naruto’s forehead.
“Quiet dobe.” Sasuke glared at Naruto.
“Hey, hey, hey! No fighting! We got to be quiet remember?” Lee said in his innocent voice, “So…we’re all set then! Let us move on!” Sasuke nodded as Naruto sighed in defeat.
As they went on, they all raced down to the entrance doors of the academy school. They stopped in front of main entrance. It was Neji’s cue. Neji made his way to the front, got out the keys, fingered them one by one until he found the right key. While Neji was taking his time of finding the right key, Shikamaru looked around to make sure the coast was clear, “Hurry up.” Shikamaru whispered.
Finally finding the right one, Neji unlocked the doors and ushered them inside and closed the door behind them. They all took a look around the hallways of the school. It was dark, creepy, and quiet. It was the opposite when its school at daytime. At daytime, the hallways were filled with echoes of chatter, laughter, yelling, and yapping. It was total quietness. It was different…and creepy in a way.
“Wow, the school sure looks different at night.” Lee noted, still excited.
“Yeah, it sure reminds me of Fatal Frame.” Naruto said with a nervous look on his face.
“Boo!” Lee turned on the flashlight and hovered it above his chin.
“ACK!” Naruto screamed. Lee laughed at him.
“Wow Naruto-kun, the future Hokage is scared of a game.” Lee teased with him as Naruto gave him a suspicious look, “Sorry Naruto-kun. Just playing with you is all.” Lee said as he patted his back.
“Hey, hurry up.” Neji told Naruto and Lee. Whoops, Naruto and Lee were fooling around, which could’ve blown their cover. Shikamaru, who was already all the way at the end of the hallway, had a lazy expression on their face as Sasuke and Neji were just halfway across with impatient expressions on their faces. Naruto and Lee rubbed the backs of their necks because of their foolishness and caught up with the others.
“In and out, fifteen minutes max.” Sasuke said simply as he ran all the way down the hallway to the main office. Sasuke glanced at Shikamaru for confirmation.
“Ten, tops.” Shikamaru said in his usual lazy tone.
Neji unlocked the doors for the main office as he and Shikamaru went inside. Lee and Naruto exchanged glances at each other and then looked at Sasuke, who was going his own way, before splitting up, Lee going to check upstairs, as Naruto went the opposite direction of where Sasuke was heading.
Sasuke walked back to the entrance of where he and the others got in, his spot he had to be on the lookout for. Naruto patrolled the hallway just right outside the office as Lee should be checking the whole upstairs. The only thing Sasuke could hear, were his footsteps; echoing, walking back and forth, waiting. The sounds were creepy somewhat, but Sasuke just continued walking back and forth. Sasuke suddenly stopped to listen and examine his surroundings. He couldn’t hear anyone at all. But then again, Lee is the stealthy type, athletic type, but too bad he…sort of didn’t attract too many girls though, and Naruto’s all the way at the other side of the hallway anyways.
Sasuke looked outside of the windows. It was pitch black outside, but Sasuke wasn’t scared at all. Sasuke turned away and flashed his flashlight over the floor and walls. Nothing special. Minutes passed by. Shadows loomed with every sweep of Sasuke’s flashlight. It could’ve been expectant for some random shinobi just pop out and attack. But this was a school! Who would attack five boys, hacking in their school, in the middle of the night? Sasuke sighed; how many minutes passed? Sasuke hadn’t been paying attention of how many minutes passed.
Shikamaru did say ten minutes, and he was dead-on accurate and punctual. If he said ten minutes, he meant ten minutes and whatever he says, always happens. Sasuke glanced at the clock which was hanging above the entrance. Five more minutes left.
Five more minutes and two seconds later, Lee, Naruto, Shikamaru and Neji finally came.
“It’s done.” Shikamaru said.
“You’re two seconds late.” Sasuke said to Shikamaru.
“Hah, better than three seconds.” Lee retorted.
“Bah, this is troublesome. Are we done now?” Shikamaru asked. Neji nodded, and with that, the five boys left the building. Once they were safely on the sidewalk, they all felt as if the weight of the world was lifted off their shoulders.
“I feel so much better.” Naruto put his hands behind the back of his head and smiled.
“That was awesome!” Lee said happily.
“But very troublesome.” Shikamaru said in a bored tone.
“Hah, arigatou!” Naruto said, “I ain’t failing math no more!”
“Yeah, changing the grades on the computer was a great idea, Shikamaru.” Neji said, satisfied.
“Yeah but this is the first AND last time we’re bailing you out of math, Naruto. You better study next time.” Shikamaru said. Naruto grinned.
“Yes mom.” Naruto mock-pouted Shikamaru as he sighed.
“Haha, but how in the world did you manage to fail math SO easily?” Lee asked.
“The teachers hates me,” Naruto said, “Heck, everyone hates me…” Naruto mentally added, “And besides, math is hard. I’m too lazy to study it.”
“Or you just didn’t do it at all.” Sasuke retorted.
“Hey, the teacher just gives WAY too much homework. I’m just a twelve-year-old orphan and I can’t do everything by myself!” Naruto pouted.
“Naruto, I’m an orphan too.” Sasuke replied.
“Pssh…the teacher’s a loser.” Lee said helpfully.
Shikamaru grinned, “Yeah, he’s troublesome. Oh and Lee, I changed your B to an A, so don’t get too happy if your grade rises only one up.” Lee threw his arms around Shikamaru.
“Shikamaru! You’re my hero! Now Gai-sensei will be proud of me! GROUP HUG!” Lee said as he hugged the other four men.
“Lee, get your hands off me.” Neji said coldly.
“Yeah, group hug!” Naruto agreed cheerfully and hugged back.
RING!
The sound of the phone ringing woke up Naruto from his slumber. Naruto rolled over on his stomach clumsily grabbed the cell phone next to him and groggily said, “Hello?”
“Naruto-kun! You won’t believe what just happened! It’s a miracle!” Lee’s voice answered back on the phone, “Oh and Neji, Sasuke, and Shikamaru are on the phone too! Five-way!”
“Huh?” Naruto mumbled and got up on his elbows.
“It’s troublesome.” Shikamaru disagreed with Lee.
“It’s good and bad.” Neji said in a bored tone.
“It’s weird.” Sasuke commented.
“Huh? What? When? How….EH! What happened?” Naruto said, puzzled, his eyes closed, still sleepy.
“This morning, and before you ask, it’s true. No doubt. Hiashi-sama confirmed it.” Neji spoke. Hiashi worked for the Board of Education. Hiashi knew everything there was to know about the school and its system area.
“Why? What happened?” Naruto asked again, slightly impatient that time.
“The school was ‘accidentally’ set on fire, dobe,” Sasuke coldly said, “And no one knows who did it and how it did yet.”
Naruto, who was too shocked to get angry at Sasuke for calling him dobe, perked up, “REALLY? You gotta be kidding!”
“I already told you Naruto, it’s true.” Neji said in his honest voice. It wasn’t a lie. Neji spoke in complete and utter truth.
“So…the school is burned down…” Naruto said flatly, more of a statement than a question, “AWESOME!” Naruto screamed of joy, “No more school! So it’s burned down!”
“Well, not completely…but it’s in need of repairs.” Lee offered.
Shikamaru broke in, “It’s all over the news-”
“-And they cancelled school of course-” Sasuke said.
“-And people keep calling over here to confirm it.” Neji sounded annoyed.
“Haha, Neji you’re popular.” Naruto grinned and rolled on his back, “Deal with it. You even have your own fanclub.” Naruto added.
“Haha, Sasuke’s fanclub his bigger than mine.” Neji said. Sasuke snorted when Neji said that.
“Oh yeah!” Naruto remembered the dream, “Guess what? Before you guys called, I was asleep-”
“Really?” Lee said in sarcasm, “We had no idea!” Lee gasped.
Naruto pouted and continued as if he never said that, “-and I had that dream of when we had our first mission when we were twelve in the Academy.”
Lee laughed, “Yeah, I remember that. How long ago was that? Two and a half years ago? We’re fifteen now. Gotta miss the old days.”
“But it was troublesome though,” Shikamaru said.
“But you loved it!” Lee told Shikamaru.
“Did not.”
“Admit it, Shikamaru. We all loved it.” Sasuke said, who actually admitted he enjoyed their first mission when they were younger.
“Whatever.”
“You know you love me.” Sasuke mocked.
It as true. Everyone loved Sasuke. He had looks, skills, talents and his coolness. As mentioned, he had a bigger fanclub than Neji and most of the guys look up to him. But Sasuke was a heartbreaker. He wasn’t the romantic-type.
“As if you didn’t have enough lovers already, Uchiha.” Neji said wryly.
“Tch, I scare them all away, Hyuuga.” Sasuke replied.
It was already imaginable that Neji was rolling his eyes.
“Well anyway,” Lee said, trying to get our attention and back to the topic, “So what are we gonna do while the school is being repaired?”
“You can come over.” Neji suggested.
“Or visit the school.” Lee said.
“Or go to Neji’s and THEN visit the school.” Shikamaru compromised. Naruto laughed.
“Kay, see you guys soon.” Naruto said as he hung up and got off his bed with a smile on his face.
---
“God,” Lee breathed, “It’s-”
“Burnt?” Neji offered.
“Destroyed?” Sasuke suggested.
“Weird now that we have no school?” Naruto asked.
“Completely annihilated?” Shikamaru contributed.
“-So different.” Lee said wryly.
“That works too!” Naruto nodded his head. The damage was really extensive and mostly the entire west wing of the school was destroyed. Wow, the fire seemed to be that bad. The entire scene was roped off, and exasperated policemen were shooing annoying news reporters away from the building. Journalists, they just never shut up.
As the five teens wandered around, they caught snatches of news reports here and there: “…Konoha High School, where early this morning, a fire was reported. At approximately 5:07 this morning, the fire department was alerted to a blaze in the school... Police have no clues as to what started the fire or who was responsible for it. So far, numerous searches have only turned up a pack of cigarettes near the school entrance... However, since the fire started from within the school, it is highly unlikely that the blaze had to do with any teenagers smoking near the building...”
“They’re kidding right?” Shikamaru asked, overhearing the reports, “Since when have schools burned down because of some troublesome teenager’s cigarette?”
“How CAN a cigarette start a fire? Cigarettes are only THIS BIG!” Naruto said, making a hand gesture of a ‘o’.
“An arsonist disguised as a teenage smoker?” Neji suggested. “Or a huge prank?”
“Or probably a dare!” Naruto offered, “It makes more sense! Who would want to burn down a school? I mean, they’d be in lots of trouble.” Naruto grinned
“Naruto, I bet you would’ve done something like that. You used to pull pranks a lot.” Sasuke said.
“That was the old Naruto! I changed! I wanna be-”
“Yeah dobe, we’ve heard it a bunch a times.” Sasuke said, annoyed, “HOKAGE.” Sasuke rolled his eyes as Naruto pouted at Sasuke.
“Hey well, Lee, what do you-eh?” Naruto stopped as he saw Lee flirting with a girl.
“Bah, he’s not listening. He’s flirting with some random girl. How troublesome.” Shikamaru pointed at Lee and the random lady who laughed at what Lee said.
“Not again.” Neji, Naruto and Sasuke sighed. Shikamaru was already making his way towards Lee and that girl, looking annoyed. Neji, Naruto and Sasuke just looked at each other and followed behind. Up close, it was obvious that the girl didn’t seem to mind about Lee. Usually, a girl would just ignore him. Poor guy. The girl was probably unaware. After all, you never know when you flirt or when someone is flirting with you. (And it’s true. o.o)
As the other four teens approached, Lee turned to them with a smile, “Hey guys, this is Tenten.” Lee grinned as his teeth shined, “And Tenten, these guys are my best friends, Naruto-kun, Neji, Sasuke, and Shikamaru.”
“Hiya!” Naruto grinned at her. What else was there to say instead of hi?
The other three boys said their greetings to Tenten as Neji whispered to Lee, “Again, Lee? Do you always have to flirt with every girl you see?”
Lee smiled, “Hey! I do NOT flirt with every girl I see! And no, not this time” Neji raised an eyebrow.
“Wow, what a surprise.”
Lee grinned when Neji said that, “I was saving her for you!”
“HUNH?” Neji said stupidly. What did Lee mean? “Wait, whoa, WHAT?” Neji glared at him; sort of confused.
“She seemed like a nice, pretty lady.” Lee gave a thumbs-up to Neji, “And you scored good!”
“Lee, I just walked over here only to hear that you want me to be with this girl…..are you trying to say I like her?” Neji asked, sort of angry.
“Well, I think she like you! Coz I saw her looking over here, and then I went to greet her and-”
“Another fan girl, right?”
“Well, she was different from the others.” Lee gave him a bright smile. Neji sweatdropped. As always, whenever Lee met a fan girl of Neji, Lee would always let them slip and always tried to get Neji and that random girl together. It was troublesome.
“Hyuuga Neji?” Tenten said; much more of a statement than a question. Neji looked at her. Also as usual, his fan girls would always giggle and blush around him, but this girl…was just looking at him. He could’ve sworn he heard her mutter ‘kawaii.’ Oh boy.
“Yes.” Neji answered.
“Another one?” Naruto asked Lee.
“Yup!”
“So…all of you go to this school?” Tenten asked.
“We did.” Sasuke crossed his arms, “And seeing half of it is destroyed, we doubt we still are going.”
“And obviously, you don’t come here since it’s an All-Boys School…” Neji spoke slowly, “So which school do you come from?”
“The Konoha Boarding School! And it’s boarding school too, just like your…well…‘used-to-be’ school is.” Tenten perked up. Yeah, she was a fan of Neji alright. But somewhat different..
“Wait…All-Girls…Boarding School…?” Neji questioned silently.
“Yeah, it’s not far from here. It’s near this area of your school.” Tenten smiled.
“But…there is no other School near here…” Neji muttered. Tenten was about to say something, but Neji spoke first, “Why are you here?”
Tenten was silent for a few seconds, “…I was curious. Y’know?” Her smile was now gone away; her cheerful voice turned down; and shrugged, “Plus, we’ve been getting news that we might have some transfer students there so…I came to check it out…y’know…”
“Transfer students?” Naruto and Lee said at the same time with their mouths open.
Tenten perked up again with that cheerful voice of hers, “Yup! That’s what I heard!”
Naruto and Lee already had anime tears running down their faces. It seemed that having the school burned down wasn’t as satisfying as the boys thought it was. Great, now their going to be transferred…or even…getting SEPERATED while getting transferred.
Neji sighed, “Let’s go to my place, we can go ask Hiashi-sama.” The others agreed and said their farewells to Tenten and left off to Neji’s place. But since it was a sunny day in the village, the boys decided to take their time by walking over to the Hyuuga Manor.
“I can swear she’s lying.” Neji decided, “I swear there is no Boarding school near-by.”
“How would you know?” Sasuke asked, “Maybe you just didn’t look over the school’s area probably. Is there something wrong with that Byakugan of yours, Hyuuga?”
“Urusei, Uchiha. I just know there isn’t.” Neji sighed, “Because y’know…my cousin goes there and…I don’t remember the Konoha Boarding School was near ours…it’s…weird. I should’ve known.”
“Whoa, your cousin goes there? And you didn’t know her school was near ours?” Sasuke asked.
“I don’t know anymore.” Neji stated emotionlessly, but though was obviously frustrated of the confusion.
“Well, it is a boarding school….” Naruto reminded, “Well ours is a All-Boys school, but theirs is an boarding school while ours is an all-boys and it’s not a boarding school, it’s just a regular school unlike the boarding school Tenten was talking about which is not a regular school and-” Naruto muttered and started to talk to himself about boarding schools and regular schools without noticing.
“Maybe that’s how she knew who you were, maybe because your cousin is there…and besides, why was she even here?” Sasuke asked, “If there is an Boarding School, why was she leaving premises?”
“Hah, that’s funny,” Shikamaru finally decided to break in, “I was thinking the same thing too.” The five men remembered the woman’s expression on her face; as if she was hiding something. It was weird.
“She had that weird look on her face and what was with the hesitation?” Lee said, not much of a question and more like commenting.
“It’s not like she has much to hide.” Neji retorted.
“Maybe she feels guilty because she could’ve been the one who started the fire?” Naruto suggested mischievously. The boys found that a funny image. Since Tenten didn’t really seem the type to smoke…unless she was hiding it and she was a slut. Yeah, definitely a weird image to picture.
Once they reached Neji’s house, they found Hiashi sitting on a chair with holding a phone on one ear, and a cell phone on the other. He looked really grumpy, cranky and annoyed.
“Yeeaah…” Neji started, “Hiashi-sama has been getting phone calls ever since this morning…”
RING!
“And it’s very annoying.” Neji added.
“Yes… I’m sure you’ll find out soon. Yes, we’ll let you know. Thank you. No, your daughter won’t fail. No, of course not. Bye.” Hiashi hung up the phone and looked at the boys who were standing there. “Hello there. Don’t mind me… I’ve been getting these calls ever since…”
“Must be very tiring, Hyuuga-san.” Lee said.
“Indeed.” Hiashi agreed.
“Hiashi-sama,” Neji blurted, “Is it true there will be transfers?” Hiashi rubbed his forehead and nodded.
“Hyuuga-san, are you okay?” Lee asked.
“I’m fine. It’s nerve-wracking is all.” Hiashi said with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
“Of course it is.” Neji said, “And so…what about us? Will we be separated? Where will we be transferred too?” Neji asked, trying not to ask too many questions. He was filled with many questions inside.
“You five boys are still unknown. It’s still being decided. Why? Is there a school you would like to go to?”
“None of them,” Naruto said, “Just as long the five of us are together!”
“How about the Konoha Boarding School?” Lee said in sarcasm. The five friends laughed.
“Bah, can we just watch a movie?” Shikamaru asked.
“Sure! Why not?” Lee asked as he put an arm around Shikamaru.
“Um, this is my house…” Neji reminded Lee.
“Aww, but Shikamaru. I’m like a part of this family!” Lee smiled as his teeth shone once again. Soon, the boys all agreed to watch a movie, and knowing boys; they either wanted action, adventure, horror, or probably something stupid like comedy. Halfway throughout the movie, Hiashi walked in the room.
“I’ve got news.” He stated emotionlessly. Neji pressed a button on the remote to pause the movie.
“Yes?” Neji asked as he turned to look at his uncle.
“You’ve all been transferred.” He spoke again.
“Where to?” Shikamaru asked, interested.
“Before I answer—I didn’t make the transfer, I don’t know who decided it, but you are all together, which is all you wanted—and…” Hiashi paused to sigh. That was not a good sign.
“Hiashi-sama…” Neji interrupted Hiashi before he could continue; eyes narrowed, aware of what school their transferred to, “Which school are we transferred to?”
Hiashi sighed again, “Well, there was no more room for the other schools, so we had no choice but…”
The five boys held their breath.
“Well, the five of you—and long with some other students—have been transferred to the Konoha Boarding School.” Hiashi paused, “And that’s not all. The boarding school…is sort of an All-Girls Boarding School.”
