All right… (mental and physical series of slaps to self) another, another, another, how I wish that word had never EXISTED… new story. I wrote this story at summer camp during my spare time, I just need to finish typing everything I have so far up. I don’t really know where the story will end up yet, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out!

Okay. Read away!

“Vlad, get your ass outta here!”

“Good heavens, no! Why would I even consider it?”

“Because of THIS!”

Danny Phantom raised both hands and aimed at his archenemy, Vlad Plasmius; his eyes glowing bright and sizzling greenish-yellow with fury. His hands began to glow with the power of a plasma blast, and he fired with all his might.

The roaring, blinding blast went zooming from Danny’s palms directly into Vlad’s chest. It knocked the middle-aged fruit loop into a skyscraper twenty feet away.

Danny wiped a trickle of blood coming from his temple away with the back of his gloved hand. Glowing green blood smeared over the white Hazmat spandex.

Danny had been fighting a rough battle with Vlad on the hot July afternoon. Danny had as many bruises, cuts, scrapes, and aches as a cornfield has ears of corn (which, to be put bluntly, is quite a lot).

Sam Manson and Tucker Foley, loyal as ever, stood behind Danny, holding a weapon and a blackmail/major distraction object in their arms. Tucker held a Fenton Thermos and a photograph of Jack and Maddie kissing. Sam was clutching an Ecto-Blade and a copy of Jack and Maddie’s marriage certificate.

Vlad recovered from Danny’s earlier attack, and staggered to his feet. He grinned twistedly at Danny, ignoring the bruise on his left eye.

“Clever maneuver; Daniel, very good. I’m very proud of you.”

“Say that one more time and I’ll use the Wail to blow you to Bermuda,” Danny snarled.

“What is it with you and quoting Disney movies?” Tucker asked quizzically.

“Not now,” Sam hissed.

Danny’s hands began to glow again. A glare tightened on his face.

“Am I intimidating you yet?” he growled.

“No, not at all. Keep practicing!” Vlad laughed.

Then his hands began to glow as well—pink, as usual.

“How manly…” Sam muttered under her breath on seeing Vlad’s pink attack.

Tucker snorted to hide his laughter.

Danny shot his beam toward Vlad again. But Vlad shot his own beam at the same time.

Both beams clashed into each other at the same time with a loud BOOM! Danny struggled to keep his going and overtake Vlad’s, using power from both hands as his limbs shook from enervation. He was starting to get tired and weak… but he couldn’t give up; he just couldn’t.

Sam and Tucker stood still, staring worriedly at their struggling friend. They were prepared to scurry away for cover if an explosion came out of the fight.

Danny felt his willpower slowly increase, and he took a step forward as he forced his beam a little further. Green began to take over pink (gigglesnort), and Danny grinned. He was beginning to overpower Vlad!

For once…

Maybe this time he wouldn’t have to call a truce or win just with the help of something else. Maybe this time he’d beat Vlad once and for all.

Suddenly, Danny heard a voice—a very familiar voice.

“Freeze it, ghost kid!”

Fenton Foamers, Danny mentally groaned. It’s Mom and Dad…

Indeed it was. Danny turned his head slowly and saw his large, paunchy, orange-clad father, Jack; and his pretty, muscular, finely-built turquoise-clad mother, Maddie. Both were holding Ecto-Guns, and both looked livid.

Vlad took Danny’s small moment of distraction as an opportunity for his move. He used all his strength to make his beam surge forward at lightening speed.

Before Danny knew it, he was suddenly blasted backward (very painfully, actually) and crashed into a solid brick wall across the street. He slid to the ground, the corner of a loose brick ran a jagged scratch down his back, and closed his eyes tightly; teeth gritted with pain.

“Danny!” came another familiar voice.

Great, Danny thought. Another family reunion. Sister, Mom, Dad, Sam, Tucker, and all. The last time this happened, they all got blown apart. Thank God for Clockwork…

Jazz, Danny’s older sister, had arrived on the scene. She rushed to her brother’s side, her face creased with worry and concern.

“Danny, are you okay?” she whispered, so that her parents wouldn’t hear her.

“Yeah—I’m… fine,” Danny mumbled back, slightly dazedly.

“You don’t look it,” Jazz pointed out.

“Yeah, well, I am. Don’t worry, Jazz—” Danny began, but Jack’s booming command cut him off.

“Jazz Fenton, step away from the ghost kid!”

Jazz glared at him.

“No, Dad.” She replied coolly.

What?” Jack boomed.

“Jazmine Athena Fenton!” Maddie yelled furiously. “Do as your father says!”

“No!” Jazz repeated, bolder this time. “Mom; Dad; listen to me—he’s not evil!”

“Preposterous!” Jack snorted.

“Completely ridiculous,” Maddie agreed.

“Indeed!” Vlad’s voice suddenly rang out. “I am more evil than him!”

Oh. Shitake mushrooms, Danny cover-up cursed mentally.

All heads turned to face Vlad, who was floating in the air as his hands began to glow their ‘manly’ pink again. Jack and Maddie immediately pointed their ecto-guns at him, scowls tightening on their faces. Vlad laughed condescendingly.

“Oh, please. You two couldn’t hit me if you tried!”

Danny got to his feet with help from Jazz and Sam (Tucker was still chortling at Vlad’s ‘manliness’).

“But I could!” Danny yelled.

And fired.

Vlad spotted the blast coming and lazily sidestepped in the air. The beam missed him by almost a foot.

Danny growled furiously.

Jack frowned.

“Wait; you two are enemies?” he asked confusedly.

“Yes, you idiot!” Vlad snarled back. “Don’t you see? This young adolescent specter has been protecting your miserable little town for over a year! And you fools have saved me the trouble of making his life miserable! Which I thank you for, by the way.”

“Wait, back up!” Maddie cried. “He’s been protecting us?”

“I’m confused!” Jack flummoxed.

“How did I know?” Sam asked sarcastically.

“Shut up, all of you! I need to finish my evil speech!” Vlad yelled.

Danny yawned.

“Why do you think, though, that the ‘ghost boy’ always hesitated to attack you? Why did he always call you Mom or Dad, and then clumsily revise his statement? Why do your daughter, and your son’s two best friends, always help him or try to protect you? Why are your son and the ghost boy never seen in the same place?”

“Wait, I’ve seen the two of them together,” Maddie interjected.

“Me, too,” Jack added.

“That’s because he split himself in half—or tried to—with the Ghost Catcher. It was really—” Tucker piped in before Sam stomped on his foot. “OOWWWWWW!”

“Shut the heck up, you moron!” Sam hissed.

“What? I’m just helping with the moment of confusion!” Tucker protested.

Sam looked ready to claw his eyes out.

Danny was beginning to look panicked as Vlad continued.

“Thank you, Mr. Foley, for that lovely explanation. Now, where was I? Oh, yes, evil speech. Ahem. So, why does this boy always seem to as though he wants to hurt no one, especially you?”

There was a pause, probably for emphasis. Vlad grinned evilly, and his hand started to glow bright blue as his malicious red eyes swiveled to Danny.

“Because,” he finished dramatically. “He IS YOUR SON!”

With that, Vlad fired a blue beam at Danny, and laughed his evil little laugh (gigglesnort).

When Danny got hit with the beam, he expected a rush of pain or to be blasted backward into a nearby bathroom where some girl would be getting ready for bed. However, the beam simply wound itself around him like some sort of snake, and then receded back to Vlad’s open palm.

Danny suddenly heard two loud gasps behind him, coming from his parents. Only then did it dawn on him.

He immediately whirled around to check his reflection in a car window. His heart stopped.

He was back in his human form.

And his parents had seen the whole thing.

“Mom; Dad! It’s not what you think, I swear!” Danny yelled, panicked.

Jack and Maddie stood gaping silently at him, looking like their mouths had lost the mechanisms that kept them shut. Sam and Tucker were stiff and white-faced. Jazz had her head in her hands, rubbing her temples feverishly, moaning slightly. Vlad was grinning triumphantly.

Maddie was the first to speak.

“Danny?” she whispered.

“You’re… the ghost kid?” Jack asked.

Danny sighed and hung his head, defeated.

“Yeah,” he replied quietly. “I’m half-ghost.”

“But—but—that’s impossible!” Jack sputtered. “You can’t be our son!”

Danny’s heart shattered at those words. You can’t be our son.

“Jack, calm down!” Maddie ordered. “It’s not impossible, just… very rare.”

“You’re not kidding,” Tucker piped in. “You wouldn’t believe how it happened. We were looking at the Fenton Portal, and—”

“Could you make the situation any worse?” Sam snapped.

“Probably…” Danny muttered under his breath.

Maddie slowly lowered her gun.

“Danny, why—why didn’t you tell us?” she asked.

“I was… I guess I was scared,” Danny replied. “How could I be sure that you wouldn’t, oh, how did you say it…” he spoke the last few words rather spitefully. “Rip me apart molecule by molecule? Or, how about dissect me?”

“Because you’re our son,” Jack answered, baffled. “We wouldn’t waste our own son, even if he was a ghost.”

Vlad interjected with another laugh.

“Yes, but you both cancelled that statement with your constant talk of destroying ghosts! How did you think that made him feel? Not scared? Ha! Let me die laughing!” (A/N: I’d like to make him die some other way right now…)

With that, Vlad fired a huge blue beam at Jack, Maddie, Jazz, Sam, and Tucker (who just happened to all be standing in the same place), which knocked them all backward. Sam and Tucker yelped in pain.

Seeing that made Danny furious. No one, especially his nutty archenemy, hurt his friends and family. No one.

Danny turned into his ghost form and glared at Vlad.

“Vlad,” he told him slowly and threateningly, putting emphasis in every vowel and consonant. “Leave… my friends and family… alone.”

Vlad ignored him, and raised a hand to fire again.

“Leave…” Danny snarled, fury building in his voice with every word. “Them…”

Finally, he could withhold himself no longer. On the final word he spoke, the Ghostly Wail ripped through the summer sky and burst from his lungs.

ALONE!

Vlad gave a cry of shock as the Ghostly Wail blasted him backward and into the very same skyscraper (which was now teetering precariously) with a loud CRASH.

Jack and Maddie were open-mouthed with shock and awe at their son’s attack. Sam and Tucker looked worried. Jazz had never seen her brother use this attack before, and stood just as shocked and gaping as her parents.

Vlad fell to the ground, unconscious for the time being.

Now running out of energy (as he often did when he used the Ghostly Wail), Danny slowly began to turn back into a human. The deafening sound of the Ghostly Wail began to fade, soon barely anything more than a whisper, and Danny fell to his knees, exhausted. It was taking all he had to keep from passing out.

Sam, Tucker, and Jazz all zoomed to his side, intense concern and slight panic etched on their faces.

“Dude!” Tucker exclaimed. “Way to lose your temper!”

“Are you okay, Danny?” Sam asked concernedly. It was her standard question.

Danny took a shaking breath, his lungs burning, and nodded. He was too exhausted to speak.

Jazz was still white-faced with awe.

“What was that?” she cried.

That was the Ghostly Wail,” Sam replied. “Danny got it a little early, before he was actually ready to use it… try ten years early.”

“Oh,” was Jazz’s only weak response.

“Danny!”

It was Jack and Maddie this time. The two of them rushed over to Danny, who coughed loudly.

“You totally kicked ghost butt!” Jack boomed, clapping Danny on the back. Danny coughed again on the impact of his father’s smack, and seemed to regain his voice.

“Yeah. Thanks Dad…” he croaked.

“Honey, are you—” Maddie began.

“Yes, Mom, I’m fine,” Danny replied, answering her question before she finished.

Maddie frowned, looking slightly doubtful.

“Okay… are you—”

“Yes, Mom, I’m sure.”

Sam hugged him, forgetting how it must look.

“Vlad’s out cold, Danny. Don’t worry,” she told him.

“Okay; 1., please let go of me, because I need air; and 2., with Vlad, I always need to worry,” Danny answered simply.

“Yes, Daniel, I believe you do!”

“You’ve gotta be kidding…”

Sure enough, Vlad had regained consciousness, and was back to his manly-pink-glowing self. Danny felt like just screaming from annoyance. Did that guy EVER quit!

Vlad smiled at Danny.

“Goodness, you look tired,” he exclaimed. “Why don’t you take a little nap?”

On saying that, Vlad raised both hands and fired a large red beam right at Danny. It blasted him squarely in the chest, knocking him backward by almost ten feet. He gave a yell of pain, now positively on the brink of passing out. He shut his eyes… beginning to lose consciousness… when…

“Danny! HELP!”

It was Sam. Danny opened his eyes with difficulty, forcing himself to sit up, and saw the most horrifying sight he’d ever seen.

His entire family, along with Sam and Tucker, were all huddled together across the street. The skyscraper that Danny had blasted with the Ghostly Wail was shaking, looking ready to collapse. And they were right below it.

Vlad floated above the scene, sneering at Danny, his hands glowing. He looked over at the building, then back at Danny, grinned, and raised his glowing hand.

Then it dawned on Danny.

“No…” he whispered, and then jumped to his feet and turned into a ghost. “No!

Vlad fired.

The blow of the beam on the building seemed to seal the skyscraper’s decision. It crumbled near the bottom and then tipped over, heading right for Jack, Maddie, Jazz, Sam, and Tucker.

Sam screamed.

“NO!” Danny yelled, flying toward them to try to save them in time. “NO!

He was almost there… he could save them… he could make it…

But the slab of concrete…

Falling toward him…

Didn’t see it…

Danny was suddenly hit squarely in the head by the huge piece from the building. He fell forward, and struggled to get back, but couldn’t.

Danny lifted his head, and just before he lost sight of every person who held his life together, Sam turned her head and screamed:

“I love you!”

And then…

The building collapsed…

Right on them…

Danny’s head fell to the concrete…

And everything went black.

(laughs evilly and maliciously) MWAHAHAHAHA! Cliffy! I’m sure in about three seconds I’ll be having pitchforks about a centimeter from my chin, belonging to either people who are begging for me to update, or people who are angry because I killed off everyone. Well, newsflash: IT’S MEH STORY! And do you people really think I’d be THAT cruel…? (mysterious grin)
