Hotaru: Uh… why?

Me: This is the 20th chapter of Cats! IT'S OUR ANNIVERSARY!

Yaku: Chapters don't count for anniversaries you baka! Years do!

Me: aww…

Nekomi: purr… Well, I think we should have a party… After all, I'm winning so far.

Me: GASP! NEKOMI! OMG THIS IS SOO COOL! I'M TALKING TO MY OWN CHARACTER!

Yaku: (smacks me over the head) You aren't talking to her, baka! You're pretty much talking to yourself! You make up everything she says!

Nekomi: Excuse me, but I have a mind of my own…

Me: (smacks Yaku over the head) Original characters don't know they're made up, BAKA!

Hotaru: sigh… Kit doesn't own Naruto.

Nekomi: Wait a minute, pet… Did you suggest I'm imaginary?

Me: Hehe, of course not! Nice going, Yaku!

Yaku: Sheesh, I know that I'm just an original character and it's fine by me…

Hotaru: WE'RE MADE UP?

Me: Aw, damn it…

Chapter 20

Naruto stood up quickly, wobbling a bit because he was slowly losing the ability to walk on two legs.

He ran to the door, determined to find Sasuke, when a shadow passed in front of him.

"Where do you think YOU'RE going, pet?" she hissed.

Naruto hissed back, jumping into the air and slicing at her face. She cried out and fell to the floor, clutching her face. Naruto ran away, seeing a bit of blood ooze from her fingers.

He ran throughout the halls, following the sound of screams. Where are you Sasuke?

He then saw a small door, almost invisible, to his right. He slid to a stop and pushed open the door, which was very stubborn. He eventually got it open, and gasped at what he saw.

Sasuke was covered in tiny black cats, and he had almost disappeared. He stood there in horror as the small felines bit at his skin, when suddenly whiskers appeared on Sasuke's face.

HE'S TURNING INTO A CAT TOO NOW?

Naruto hissed and ran at them, not noticing he was on all fours. He jumped and bit at the cats, tearing a few off, while most stayed stubbornly on. Sasuke stopped struggling and stared at the large cat ripping the tiny ones off of him. His eyes widened in realization. Naruto..?

Then he got serious. He began to tear at the tiny cats as well, assisting Naruto in ripping them off. They snapped at him as he tore them off his body.

Suddenly, Nekomi ran into the room, a large cut on her cheek that had blood flowing from it. She gasped. "Not the opposite cats! They're only experimental!" she cried.

Opposite cats? thought Sasuke, confused. Then he finally realized he was changing. He gasped as black fur began to grow on his arms, turning into white at his hands. He was shocked, but quickly got over it.

I see… Opposite cats. If these turn me INTO a cat, what if..?

"Naruto!" he cried at the large orange cat ripping at the black cats, who looked up. "Let one of them bite you!" he said, and Naruto seemed confused, but did it. He paused for a second, and one of them bit him on the arm, which began to shed fur quite a bit.

The cat continued to bit him, and Naruto began to get less cat-like. But he still had a long ways to go.

"Damn it!" Nekomi hissed out, running at them. "No! You stupid prototypes, don't bite HIM! Bite the human if you want, but don't bite my cat!" she said, trying to shoo the cats away.

The cats heard the harshness in her voice, and turned to her, hissing. Their eyes went into slits and their ears folded back.

"W-why are you looking at me like that?" she said, getting nervous.

They all jumped at her, teeth bared. She screamed as they all bit at her skin, tearing at her flesh and making red fur grow all over her body.

Naruto and Sasuke stepped back from the horrifying scene. They were now each the same size, and had the same amount of fur—except Sasuke was shrinking and Naruto was growing.

Eventually the cats backed off, and all that was there was a shredded red cat, obviously near death.

Naruto, now completely back to normal, grabbed one of the small black cats and held it to Sasuke's skin… er… fur… and waited until it bit down.

After about ten minutes, Sasuke was back to normal as well. He grabbed Nekomi and stood up, offering Naruto a hand. Naruto smiled and accepted it, standing up as well.

"Glad that's over," Sasuke grumbled. Naruto laughed.

"I hear ya. Can we go now?"

Sasuke climbed out of the hollow tree, landing upon the ground gracefully. Naruto also climbed out, falling to the ground not-so-gracefully.

Sasuke gave a small smile. "Tch. Dobe," he said, helping Naruto up.

"Owww… Damn it, teme, ya coulda told me to be careful or something."

"Like you'd listen. Ok, we need to bring Nekomi to the Hokage quickly."

"What's the rush?"

"Itachi's out here somewhere…"

Naruto froze up. "I-itachi?" he said shakily. The earlier events flashed through his head, and he fell to the ground in a heap, shivering horribly.

Sasuke's eyes widened. "Naruto? Naruto!" He jumped down to Naruto's side, trying to comfort him.

Naruto stood up shakily, still shivering slightly. "S-sorry… Guess I… well…" he said sheepishly.

Sasuke felt his heart sink. He knew Naruto wasn't okay. "C'mon, Naruto, let's go home now…"

Indeed, Itachi was there… But even he couldn't last against ANBU without injuries. He had had to retreat.

"But I'll get you somehow, Naruto-kun… I swear I will."

Sasuke and Naruto walked into Tsunade's office, Nekomi slung over Sasuke's shoulder. Tsunade looked up from her work, which she hadn't done a bit of. She was too depressed.

She gasped at the sight of her favorite ninja.

"Naruto!" she yelled, jumping out of her seat and running over to him, giving him a bone-crushing hug.

"Aack! Tsunade-baba… You're… crushing… me…" he gasped out.

Tsunade pulled away, tears in her eyes. "Way to ruin a moment, brat! How are you? Is everything okay? Are you hurt?"

Naruto gave a weak smile. "I'm okay. Sasuke-teme saved me," he said, nodding his head to Sasuke.

Tsunade looked to him, and then gave him a hug that could rival the last, successfully squeezing all the air out of the Uchiha and the cat hung on his shoulders.

She quickly pulled away. "Is that…" she said, pointing to the (now crushed) red cat over Sasuke's shoulders. He nodded.

Tsunade grinned evilly. "Just a moment," she said, getting a bowl of water. She splashed it on Nekomi, waking her up.

"Hellooooo," she said all-too-sweetly, giving an evil grin to Nekomi.

She then pulled out a broom. "YOU ARE A DEAD CAT!"

The cat yelped and ran from the room, Tsunade chasing after it with the broom constantly slamming down on the ground after it. Sasuke and Naruto sweatdropped as screeches and yells were heard from down the hall.

Sasuke turned to Naruto, suddenly feeling nervous and awkward. Naruto seemed to feel the same, for he looked away nervously.

"Um… sooo…" said Sasuke, unsure of what to say.

"Well, uh… I guess I'll see you later, teme," Naruto said nervously, scratching the back of his neck. He began to walk to the door.

"Naruto, wait," Sasuke said quickly. Naruto turned to his him, his blue eyes glittering.

"Well, um…" Sasuke now realized it's stupid to yell for someone to wait when you don't now what to say.

Naruto walked back over to him, looking up at Sasuke. "Yessss?"

Sasuke felt very nervous. "Well, uh… Be careful, okay?"

Naruto 'hmphed', and put his hands at his hips. "You think I can't take care of myself? I mean, yeah, I was kidnapped, but she cheated."

Sasuke rolled his eyes. "It's not that, dobe. I just… don't want you to be hurt again."

Naruto smirked. "Aww, is Sasu-chan worried about little ol' me? Oh, I feel so honored." Sasuke blushed a bit at the nickname, and growled.

"Don't call me that, Naru-chan," he said smugly and a bit angrily.

Naruto 'hmphed' again and crossed his arms over his chest. "Only if you don't call me that."

"Hn. Whatever. And what's wrong with me worrying about you?"

Naruto blushed a little, and gave a soft smile. "Nothing," he said, leaning up to him so their faces almost touched. "I think it's sweet." Their lips almost touched, and then Naruto turned away.

"See ya, Sasuke-teme," he said waving and walking to the door.

Sasuke stood there, bewildered. He almost kissed me… He scowled. But he didn't kiss me. He was just teasing me.

He quickly walked over to Naruto and grabbed his arm. "Hey!" he said, a bit angry. Naruto turned around, looking like he had expected this.

Sasuke leaned in to Naruto. "Don't get so close just to disappoint me, Naru-chan," he said, and then crushed their lips together. Apparently Naruto hadn't been expecting this, because his eyes widened in shock.

It took a second, but he kissed back. They stood there kissing for about a minute, before the need for air made them pull away. They stood their, panting and blushing, just looking into each other's eyes.

Naruto put his hand to his lips. "Uh…"

Sasuke smirked, but it wasn't mean. "Glad to know my feelings are returned."

Naruto blushed, and gave a light, playful glare. "Don't act so cool, Sasuke-teme. You're blushing too!"

Sasuke just laughed.

A few years later…

It was the wedding of Sasuke and Naruto. Many cried, some out of joy and some because they failed. (That would be the fanboys and fangirls.)

They actually hadn't planned on getting married until they had been together for a few more years, but there was one thing that changed their minds…

…Naruto was pregnant.

He had (thankfully) not gotten pregnant from Itachi, but it was a different case with Sasuke…

Tsunade had, when she first heard the news, cried and laughed and hugged Naruto (not too hard, though—he was pregnant, too, not just getting married), and then she had hit Sasuke ("YOU GOT HIM PREGNANT? She had yelled), and then she had hugged Sasuke.

But it was, all in all, a happy occasion. It was actually a double wedding—Sakura was getting married to Lee.

The two couples said their vows, and then the two brides (Sakura and Naruto—hey, he's technically the bride!) threw their bouquets to the crowd. They were caught by Hinata and Ino, who both gave looks to their boyfriends, Kiba and Shikamaru, who freaked out a bit. The crowd laughed as Ino argued with Shikamaru about how it was fate that made her catch it, and Hinata just stood there next to Kiba, blushing.

The two couples went their separate ways, each ready to go home and prepare for their honeymoons.

At their home, Naruto snuggled into Sasuke's chest. Sasuke smiled and petted Naruto's blond hair, getting a light purr out of him.

I'm the luckiest guy in the world, Sasuke thought, beginning to fall asleep.

As he drifted into dreamland, an old red cat curled up at the end of the bed.
