Idea Slump

I 'm in an idea slump, after thump, thump,
someone, someone, help me please,
I don't know how to top monkeys!

I've sung a song, rolled my eyes, swayed and waved my hands,
I've fallen, swooped, swung, slipped, surprised-
before your very eyes!

I've scurried, hurried, screamed in fright, ran in the darkness of the night,
I've dived, jived, wiggled and worded, chased after skirted
–even blurted!

I'm at a lost, in the dark, have not been struck by lady luck, not an idea has come to mind, ideas, actions, a course, a heading- I've yet to find!

I've scraped and scribbled, cursed, fought, flailed, wagged, flagged, clawed, climbed, I've dug a hole, I'm gone! If I can't scratch out inspiration, is this the end of my worldly occupation?
