"The usual place?" Gaara questioned.

"Yes." Neji answered.

Neji and Gaara. Best friends since the age of eight. They met under a willow tree in the park, which is now their usual place. They had run away from home. One to get away from his uncle. The other his father. Now 17 they have become inseparable.

They silently walked to the tree, so full of memories. When Gaara realized his attraction to other boys. When Neji's father died. When Gaara kissed his first boy. When Neji got dumped by his first girl.

Now it was Neji asking Gaara to the willow.

"What did you want to say to me?" Gaara asked.

"Well… You know the winter dance is coming up right?" Neji asked nervously.

Gaara nodded.

"…" Neji couldn't continue.

Soon it all came out. "Willyougowithme?"

Gaara stared and then suggested. "A little slower?"

Taking a deep breath Neji repeated his words slower. "Will you come with me to the dance tonight?"

Neji stared at the ground, to embarrassed to look Gaara in the eye.

Slowly a grin formed on Gaara's face. "Yes.'

Neji looked up in surprise. "What?" he said in a disbelieving tone.

Stepping forward to pull Neji's body to him Gaara said "Yes I will go with you."

Neji looked up, wrapping his arms, instinctively around the body pulling him close. Neji then pressed his lips to the redheads, ever so gently. Soon pulling away. "Thank you." Neji said.

Now it was the last song, a slow song, and Gaara and Neji were pressed to each other. Ever so slightly swaying back and forth. Gaara's head pressed to Neji's shoulder, arms wrapped around his neck. The stares and comments didn't matter. For now they were one. Everything in perfect synch. Steps and heartbeats. Right now they were joined in perfect harmony. Together they made a song of love and happiness. So even when the song they were currently dancing to ended, they would ever dance to the song of their life together.
