Chapter I: Shadow Lover
Keira was exhausted.
It was near midnight, and the only thing that was on her mind was her bed and at least eight solid hours of sleep.
She had spent all day and most of the night trying to repair her racing zoomer after the big race. Needless to say, it was a wreak.
She knew it wasn't Jak's fault. He actually managed to save the racer... mostly.
Someone had managed to tamper with her zoomer in an attempt to sabotage Jak's chances in the race.
Too bad for that person, they decided to screw around with the brakes, which Jak didn't use in the actual race anyway. It was only after he had won that he realized that someone had messed with the zoomer.
A wheeled vehicle could have coasted to a stop, but not a zoomer. A zoomer rode on air and was made from frictionless metal. A racing zoomer with no brakes could go on forever. But Jak was not prepared to put that kind of time into a racing career, so he purposefully drove into a wall.
A small explosion, but it was nothing that he couldn't recover from three seconds later. So Jak was safe, and the zoomer was scrap metal.
Keira reached her house, unlocked the door, and walked in. She closed and locked the door behind her. The house was dark. Suddenly, Keira heard a noise. It wasn't much of a noise, but in Haven City, if you hear a noise in a dark house, it probably belonged to a crazy chain-saw murderer.
"Who's there?" Keira demanded, peering into the darkness around her.
Suddenly, a shadow moved, one that was deeper than the others, and in the shape of a man. The light of the street shined through the window dimly reflected in his eyes. "No one you need to fear." A voice said, a voice that was strangely familiar, and at the same time, it wasn't.
"Jak? Is that you?" Keira asked, trying in vain to once again pierce the darkness.
"No." The man answered simply. "I am not Jak."
"Then you should know that Jak is very protective of his... friends." Keira warned. "He'd hunt you down if you do anything to me."
The man seemed to find this comment amusing, amusing enough to laugh. His laugh frightened Keira. "Jak can do nothing to me."
Keira took a step away from him. "Why are you here?"
The man stepped forward, the darkness still wrapped around his body, masking his identity. "To take for myself that which he can not have."
With inhuman speed, the man leapt forward, pulled Keira into his arms and landed an angry and passionate kiss on her lips. At first, she tried to pull away from the man, but he was far stronger than her; but she began to feel safe in his arms with his lips on hers. It was a feeling that she never thought she would feel for anyone except Jak... that is if he EVER kissed her.
No matter where his wicked hands roamed, it seemed right. No matter how hard he bit into her skin, he should've bitten harder. He scratched her back, uncommonly painfully, causing the she-elf to cry out in pain and ecstasy.
But what really allowed Keira to allow herself to be undressed and laid on the bed by the mystery man was his smell...
The smell of something familiar...
The smell of home...
