Chapter 1: A Book Called “I Love You”

It was a sunny morning at Alice Academy. A certain brunette was running in the hall...

“Oh no! I’m gonna be late!” shouted Mikan

She was such in a hurry that she didn’t notice that someone was in front of her. She bumped into that person. Yes you’ve guessed right, it was Natsume...

“Watch where you’re going polka-dots!” said an angry Natsume

“Oh, so sorry Natsume, good morning!” she said bowing her head down

“Hmph!” Natsume said, and then he went inside the classroom.

Mikan also went inside...

“Good Morning everyone!” she said

“Good morning to you too Mikan!” said Yuu

“GOOD MORNING HOTARU!” shouted Mikan as she rushes to he beloved bestfriend.

Well, Hotaru of course, ignores her happy-go-lucky friend and shoots her with the new and improved Baka Gun...

“Hotaru!” Mikan said.

“You alright Mikan?” Yuu asked

“I’m fine, thanks!” Mikan answered

“Good morning Ruka and Natsume!” Mikan said

“Good morning...” Ruka said

Natsume just continues reading his manga...

Mr. Jinno enters the room...

“Okay class, let’s begin the lesson...” Mr. Jinno said

Everyone goes back to their seats.

“Uhm...excuse me Sir, where is Mr. Narumi?” Yuu asked

“Unfortunately, Mr. Narumi had some business to take care of, so I’m substituting for a while...” Mr. Jinno said. “Mr. Narumi said that today is your Reading Day. I’ll be giving each one of you a book.”

Then some students from the Middle School came, carrying a pile of books. One of them who was helping, was Tsubasa

“Hi Tsubasa-sempai!” Mikan said

Tsubasa waved at Mikan, and he put the books on the desks. Then they left.

Natsume was glaring at Tsubasa at that time...

“I will distribute a book for each of you now...” Mr. Jinno said

There was silence among the kids...

“Okay class, I’ll leave the rest to you. Just keep reading and be sure to finish the book today. I have to take care of some things.” Mr. Jinno said, and then he left the room.

As soon as Mr. Jinno leaves the class started to read their books.

Natsume was kinda shocked at the title of the book he got...

“I Love You? What kind of title is that?” he asked

And this is how the story, I Love You, goes...

By the way, all the kids here in the story, are 12 years old.

Once there was a young boy named Kai. Kai was a rude and annoying boy. He doesn’t like to be with anybody else, except for his bestfriend, Lio. A lot of girls admire Kai, but he doesn’t seem to care about them. Everything changed when he met a girl named Ruri.

Ruri is a cute little girl. Ruri’’s very cheerful and friendly, but she is clumsy. Ruri tries to befriend Kai at anyway she can, she wanted to change his cold attitude, but it doesn’t seem to work. Kai always teases Ruri and becomes rude to her sometimes, but Ruri still has hope, that she will be able to help Kai. It has been 2 years now and Kai’s attitude, remained the same...

One day at school...

“Good Morning!” Ruri said to the class

“Good Morning Ruri!” her friends greeted her back.

She went to her desk and put down her bag. Just then, Kai comes in...

“Good Morning, Kai!” the class said

Kai ignored the usual greeting of his classmates.

“Hi Kai!” Ruri said

Kai just ignored her and took his seat. (Which is right next to Ruri’s.)

Ruri sighed, and just sat down.

Their teacher, Ms. Mayama, entered the room.

“Good Morning teacher.” The class said

“Good Morning class, let’s begin the lesson.” Ms. Mayama said.

After the class, the students went home.

Ruri was taking a walk, when he saw Lio, Kai’s, bestfriend.

“Hi Lio!” Ruri said

“Hello Ruri...” Lio said

“Why isn’t Kai with you?” Ruri asked

“He wanted some time alone...” Lio said.

“Where is he?” Ruri asked

“He’s at Fountain Park.” Lio said

“Thanks, well I’ll see you later.” Ruri said

“Sure, bye...” Lio said

Ruri went to the Fountain Park, where he saw Kai, sleeping, next to a tree, with a book covering his face.

“Kai? I better check if he’s awake.” Ruri said.

She went closer and took the book covering his face...

She saw a very innocent-looking sleeping Kai. She had never seen Kai look so calm before. Ruri just stared at Kai’s face when...

“What are you staring at?” asked an awakened Kai

Ruri was shocked to find out that Kai was awake.

“Well, Lio said you were here, so I decided to see you...” Ruri said.

“When will you stop following me? You’re annoying...” Kai said

“I just wanted to know how you were doing that’s all...” Ruri said.

Then there was silence between them...

Then Kai spoke...

“Hey listen...” Kai said.

“What is it?” Ruri asked

Kai stood up, and walked towards Ruri...

Ruri thought that Kai would tease her again, but all of a sudden, Kai, hugged her...

“Wha-?” said a very confused Ruri

“You see...I...I...” Kai tried to speak.

“I...I love you...” Kai said

Ruri was shocked, she didn’t know what to say.

“Ever since I met you, you’ve managed to change me... I wasn’t as bad as I used to be. You were always so kind... I know I was rude to you but the truth is...I really...love...you...” Kai said and he hugged Ruri tighter.

Ruri blushed, and then she smiled. She managed to hug Kai back. Tears started to roll down Ruri’s cheeks...

“I love you too, Kai...”

“What a boring book...” Natsume said

Natsume finished reading, just then; he realized that he was the only one in the class. All had gone up to their rooms.

When he stood up, he saw Mikan, sleeping on her desk. It seemed that Mikan fell asleep while reading her book. He walked to Mikan, he was about to wake her up, when he remembered about the story he just read.

He started to realize that the story was kinda related to him.

When he looked at Mikan’s sleeping face, he kinda...blushed...

“Do I...Like...Her?” he asked himself
