Ally was busy working on her case as she heard someone fumbling with her door. She looked up and recognized Nell poking her head in. The blonde one's traditional long cherished locks were tied up on her head as she grinned oddly.
"You busy ?" "It depends..." Ally's voice was slow and honeyed as if she'd been caught in a erotic daydream.
"Well," Nell closed the door and casually sidled up to the desk. "It's about my sister, and I know you've sort of had experience with... sibling repercussions."
"I'm sort of an expert." Ally responded with her pencil still in her hand.
"Well," Nelle forced her grin again. "It's like this, my sister, uh, er, uh..."
"Lucy."
"Right." The two started chuckling together. The shorter actress pretended to good naturely rap her co-star in the jaw before turning away with a warm grin - a characteristic so alien to the character she played.
"Cut." A bell sounded as Calista and Portia broke up. Calista's make-up was touched up once more and the script girl ran over and let Portia regain her lines again. Getting up from the director's chair, Amanda Bearse was sort of tongue in cheek as she scratched her cheek.
"Let's take a break," She sort of missed her days as an actress. "Thirty minutes."
"Thirty minutes !" Her assistant called the crew as the bell buzzed again. Set decorators readjusted the set as guest star Markie Post looked around hoping to meet Catherine Zeta Jones, the actress who played the recurring role of Nell's sister who was dating John Cage. Peter MacNichol rounded his eyes to wake up as he glanced at his script. Jane Krakowski hugged Greg Germann and kissed him a bit as they reverted to reality.
"Peter," Jane kissed him platonically. "Did Ron Howard get in touch with you about that role in the movie I'm doing with George Clooney ?"
"No," MacNichol looked up with his big brown eyes. "I'd like to get a serious role for a change. My god, I'm in the third sequel to Dude, Where's My Car."
"Another one ?"
"It's a cult hit..." He looked up as a busty blonde had entered the set with a notepad. The overly obvious beauty had stopped a gaffer and looked around as she asked a question and got a response.
"Wow," MacNichol's eyes really noticed her. She looked like a shorter version of Pamela Anderson and her white sweater looked as if it were about to explode. "I saw her in Cool Hand Luke when I was a kid. She's a cult star herself."
"Oh yeah," Jane recognized her a bit put off by her shape. "The car wash scene..."
The blonde had noticed Calista in the office set. Slipping through, she headed up to the Ally McBeal star and grinned admirably to her.
"Mrs. Flockhart ?" The blonde started. "Joy Harmon, Celebrity Magazine. We have an appointment ?"
"Oh, sure..." Calista felt like Ally again as she sat behind the desk once more. The set was partially getting empty as Joy sat in one of the prop chairs.
"First off," Joy set her recorder. "How are you doing ?"
"Oh just fine," Calista responded. "Kept really busy. We'll be getting ready for our Eighth Season pretty soon and the scripts are getting better. Robert is keeping his head clean plus Gil Bellows is returning for more scenes. Courtney too as her hectic schedule prohibits."
"Robert as in Downey Junior, correct." Joy scribbled her notes. "I imagine Courtney is busy on According to Jim. Was it shakey when you were almost cancelled ?"
"Very," Calista sat back. "As you and the fans know, I was getting burned out on the role and was wanting a way out, but then NBC bought the rights and David talked us all back with better scripts from out of those Internet fan fictions. I'm personally getting to direct a little bit, more old characters are returning, things are returning to the mood of the first season, things are getting interesting and I'm happy."
"I imagine your schedule is busy with the two shows." Harmon asked. "How do you handle it ?"
"David and Dan Curtis are really working together as to afford me a regular life too." Calista looked up when her assistant brought her her lunch. "I play single Ally here and then go play married Ally on Dark Shadows. I'm gratified by the fact that I'm getting to be part of such a long running institution as Dark Shadows. I mean, it's going into it's fortieth year; I only hope I can do Ally half as good there as I do her here."
"What series you like best ?"
"Oh, well," Calista swallowed her bite of sandwich as she poked her fork into her salad. "I'm very happy with both. I mean, David gave me my break and I'm indebted to him both loyally and as a sense of honor, but Dark Shadows is so much fun. We did the Star Trek crossover last season and I got to wear the uniform and walk the Enterprise and next season we're going into the Sixteenth Century. It's a lot of fun wearing those costumes plus especially with the prime time budget it now has. It's finally being done the way it was supposed to be."
"Who's your favorite love interest ?" Joy grinned devilishly as Calista grinned similarly.
"Uhhh," She clicked her tongue. "Robert comes to mind of course, he's so much fun to work with, but Bill who's my husband on Shadows, I think I could see myself really married to him. He is just like his character. I guess I'd have to add Dean Cain and Tim Daly too. Their brief roles last season were a lot of fun."
"Any new revelations on Ally's love life ?"
"I'm not allowed to say. David's keeping things under raps, but as the tabloids reported, he has a plan to bring Billy Thomas back, so we're all hoping Gil's interested."
"Michelle Pfeiffer back as your sister ?"
"Possible," Calista sipped her tomato juice. "Kevin Bacon loved playing my brother Spenser so much he's talking to David about another possible Ally spin-off."
"How about your relationship with Harrison Ford ? How is he after his by-pass surgery ?"
"Any new film projects ?"
"Yes," Calista finished her lunch as a few crew members readjusted cameras. "During the hiatus, I'm going to be playing Lizzie Borden in a remake of the Liz Montgomery movie. It's going to be darker and more psychological and then I've got another one with Geoffrey Rush and Halle Berry set to start filming in Australia. I'm really looking forward to it."
"Wow," Joy grinned as she wished she was still acting. She noticed her watch. "Thank you for allowing me to take up some of your time..."
"Not a problem..." Calista shook hands with the former Sixties pin up.
