A/N: This is a different take on the treadmill scene from "Cane and Able" when House is trying to get his leg to work. Told from a You point of view in House's perspective.

Silence Becomes You

You feel the pounding run through your legs as you continue to push. Your right leg burns more than your left, more than you remember.

Pain shoots up your leg and you stumble. The button is pushed, and you level your leg and try to defeat the pain. At that moment you rub over the scar and shut your eyes, panting from exertion, pain, and the suffering you know is coming.

Thinking back, you remember the look in Cameron's eyes and shake it off as you, once again, turn on the treadmill and run again. Running frees you, before you ran all the time, now you feel you've gone too far.

Sweat slides down your face, into your eyes. You close them, welcoming the sting.

You feel fire ignite in your thigh and you start to hobble, not ready to give in. Eyes open and you are staring at the wall. The hobbling intensifies as you start to cave towards the right.

You increase your speed.

Stumbling, you barrel backwards, your lungs are on fire as you feel your ass collide with the floor. Pain engulfs your leg as you try to stand.

Sliding towards your bag, you grab it as the treadmill continues to run. At the bottom is your Vicodin, the very thing you tried to stay away from this whole time. Your hand shakes as you open the bottle, desperate for relief.

You turn to see a figure standing by the window. The silhouette is foreign to you, but not so much as she comes closer.

Cameron, you think she knows, but she says nothing, just turns off the treadmill and turns towards you. It's late and you wonder why she's here, wonder how long she's been watching.

Her hand stretches out and you turn your head, not ready to give up, give in. She stays silent, you can feel her eyes on you. Turning, you see her hand is still outstretched, waiting.

Finally you lift your hand and grip hers firmly and feel yourself start to rise. You never knew she was so strong. At this point, you figure 'just once' in silence you'll let this happen. Once, you'll let it go. Or maybe you're out of your mind.

Silence becomes you both.
