Surprise...
For Carolina. As a little joke we decided to post our feelings on what should have happened many pages ago!
not mine.
Acheron pushed his ear against the door, listening intently.
“I told you not to follow me,”
“And what was I supposed to do?”
“Leave me alone and go talk to the others,”
“Yeah right Lei.”
“I mean it.”
Acheron held his breath and suddenly heard Lei stop ranting.
“Acheron. Go. Away.” Acheron backed away from the door with ease, his fury feet preventing him from making too much noise. His claws clicked against the floor as he walked dejectedly back towards his room. His curiosity had gotten the better of him though he knew what consequences he would face if Lei’ella caught him eavesdropping. The yelling would come, then the pissed off Varden would follow that, and he would, once again be made to look like a fool and a child. Not to mention he might be threatened a few times with by the dagger. He winced at the last memory. Maybe he should stay away from the door for a while.
“Because. I asked you not to. I asked for a little privacy.”
“Fine. You got your privacy. I was only following you to let you know that we should practice more...”
“Varden,” she said coolly, “that’s bullshit.” Heat rose to Varden’s cheeks, turning a brilliant shade of flushed pink.
“I know, but it was worth a shot,” he said coyly, slipping his sarcastic demeanor over him as easily as Lei’ella could slip on her cloak. He knew she hated when he didn’t take her seriously.
“Fine, Varden, you want to practice? Then lets practice with your stupid toys.”
“Daggers.”
“Same thing.” She said icily, pulling out a pair of wooden knives that he had given her when her cherished first been left behind. All of her had been left behind, and she was glad to start over, in a sense. She watched as Varden rushed towards her, she pulled the knife up to block him and he narrowly missed her. She was getting better. She thrust the knife at him but he blocked it effortlessly. She groaned and shifted her feet, but he caught her off guard and pressed the tip of the blade against her warm pale skin.
“Pinned ‘ya,” he said softly. She pushed him away and jumped across the room, he followed suit and they soon found themselves flying around the room, just like the characters of a fairy tale coming to life. Her long legs carried her swiftly from one stance to another and she had even managed to nearly slice his head off a few times.
But now she found herself pressed against the only goddamn corner in the room; one hand on the side of cheek pressed against the wall, and another holding the blade against her neck. Lei’ella let out a slow breath, and she watched it form into a puff of visible condensation.
“Don’t move,” he said forcefully. She hadn’t planned on it. She also hadn’t planned on what happened next. Varden’s lips pressed against hers. Don’t move, he’d said. The blade was still pressing against her neck but she felt him drawing it away allowing her to breathe. Alarmed by the sudden and unexpected closeness of him, Lei’ella shoved him away, sinking to the floor. Varden followed suit.
“Did I scare you?”
“Not at all,” she whispered.
“Oh stop complaining Acheron.”
“But it isn’t fair. For all I know they’re in there and talking it away and I’m learning nothing.” Neirenn smiled. He really was such … such a guy.
“Oh, something tell me you aren’t really missing out on an important information,” Neirenn said softly.
“Oh and you call – Wait, what?” Acheron said confused.
“Come on,” Neirenn giggled, “What do you think they’re doing?” Blush rose to Acheron’s cheeks.
“Well that’s important information!” Acheron’s rebuttal was forced.
“Why don’t I show you some more magic, Ash?”
“Isn’t that all you ever do?”
“What do you want me to do? Write you a novel?”
“That’d be nice,” Acheron mused. Neirenn jumped off the bed and started chanting and Acheron ducked, waiting for a splash of water to befall him.
“Tada,” Neirenn smiled. Acheron was impressed. In her hands, Neirenn held a spider made of water. It crawled across her skin and up her shoulder, even began to spin a web between her finger tips. Neirenn let out a slow breath and the spider started to slowly diminish itself until it was no more then a droplet of water in her palm.
“Where’d you learn that?” Acheron said astonished.
“Just a trick I picked up on,” Neirenn smiled.
“Can you teach me?” Acheron asked in earnest.
“Don’t think so, come on, let’s play cards.” Acheron groaned. Neirenn always cheated.
“Maybe we should go before she…” Neirenn started. Lei’ella’s ears perked up and she turned bright red.
“What?” Varden asked stupidly.
“Get out,” Lei’ella screamed. “Have you ever heard of knocking.”
“We did knock, but someone chose not to answer!” Neirenn screamed.
“Well whose fault is that?” Varden snapped.
“Yours!” Neirenn and Acheron shouted at the same time. Varden shut up after that.
“Sorry that we interrupted your practice time,” Acheron muttered. Neirenn just walked out, unsure of what to say.
“Maybe we should wait till after they’ve become unconscious?” Varden asked. Lei’ella nodded with silent laughter, allowing her self to sink back into the comfort of his arms.
did anyone catch the Lion King phrase I used?
