Shugo: Reading this fic, some of you might be going ''WTF?'' Don't worry. I don't think you're supposed to get it. Even I don't get it and I wrote it. Yes, I tend to write things I don't understand. Anyway, some if this was inspired by Switchfoot's songs, suuu... um... yeah... I just happened to be listening to them as I was writing the ending xD

And um, yes... the pairing is sakuraxsora... as in sakura kinomoto... as in carcaptor sakura... as in tsubasa reservoir chronicles. That Sakura. Crossovers are fun.

woohee :D

beautiful letdown
sakuraxsora

Cerulean waves crashed against powder white sand. Emerald leaves swayed in a nonexistent wind. Silver moonlight reflected against sapphire eyes.

''Where the hell is everyone?'' Sora shouted, frustrated. He swung his Keyblade against a palm tree, the thin trunk bending dangerously and then swinging back in place.

Last time he checked, Riku was in the Secret place, Kairi was at home, Selphie was at the dock...

Was he dreaming? After all, no one was there, and Sora smelled darkness. He couldn't pinpoint the direction, the smell was new to him. Not that he didn't know the smell of darkness anyway. He could tell what kind of heartless had appeared by its smell. But this smell was different. It was... lighter somehow.

''The key that holds the power of the stars.…’’

Sora turned toward the direction of the voice. Light burst against the dark-blue sky. It hurt to look. It was like being blinded by formaldehyde.

It was the most amazing light show Sora had ever seen. She was the most amazing girl he had ever seen.

''Reveal your true form to me...''

An opaque-blue orb of light floated in front of her. A yellow circle of a star, the sun and moon surrounded her and blue light pulsated in.

''I, Sakura, command thee under consent...''

The orb rose in front of her, hovering a few feet in front of her face. Her face... Cream tinted skin, auburn hair... But Sora was more entranced over her emerald eyes. You didn't see eyes like that very often. Save for two certain people but these were pure emerald. Sora was sure there were no other like them.

''Release!'' she shouted, throwing her hands forward. Wind erupted from the ground and the object inside the ball of light whirred. The object gained length (which now suspiciously looked like a key) and the girl reached out for the staff, spinning it like a baton a few times before swinging it down sharply beside her.

''Hi there,'' she said, turning to face Sora. The brunette jumped. She probably knew he was standing there all along.

''Um, hey,'' Sora said, hesitating only for a few seconds. Only a few. ''What was that?''

''This?'' The girl asked, holding the staff out in front of her with a smile. ''It's my Sealing Staff.''

Feeling the ruffles of a conversation, Sora stepped forward. ''Seal what?''

''Cards. You have one too?''

''What? This thing? This is my Keyblade,'' Sora laughed, somewhat nervously. That was only because he had no clue how his Keyblade had suddenly appeared in his hand.

Was it possessed?

''What does it do?''

''Locks worlds.''

''Oh, I see. Are there many worlds here?'' Sakura tilted her head and hopped forward a stepped.

Sora felt the heat from her body and felt his own face burn up.

He didn't believe in love at first sight. His paper heart would bleed.

''Yeah, there are lots,'' Sora replied. ''Say, have you seen anyone? Like, any people?''

''Nope.''

Sora dropped down to the ground. ''This has to be a dream.'' He shook his head. No one could just up and leave like that all of a sudden. Especially some hundred people.

''Well,'' Sakura said, idly spinning her Sealing staff, ''Maybe I'm dreaming and you're in my dream. Or maybe I'm in your dream. Or maybe we're both dreaming and we met in the same dream.''

Sora had to shut is jaw. ''How does that work?''

Sakura shrugged and paced around a bit, first kicking up the sand, then drawing lines with her foot. ''What's your name? Mine is Sakura.''

Sakura...

''I'm Sora.''

''Well, So-ra, you remind me a friend.''

''I do? Which friend.''

Sakura shrugged. ''I don't remember him. All I know is that I have a friend and that you remind me of him.''

''Then how do you know he was your friend?'' Sora asked, confused. ''How can I remind you of something you don't remember?''

She held out her hand and Sora took it. Sakura didn't let go.

''I don't know,'' she said. ''But I can feel it. And I don't know how exactly you remind me of him but, you do. That's the feeling I'm getting.''

Maybe our love will catch like fire...

''Oh.'' Sora smiled. ''Well, you remind me of someone too.''

Sakura's eyes lit up and she jumped up and down, taking Sora with her. ''Really? Tell me who! Tell me who!''

Sora released his arm and stepped a good distance away. ''I'm not telling you,'' he teased, sticking out his tongue.

Sakura made a semi-twirl and stuck out her tongue too. ''That's okay too.''

Sora laughed. He didn't know if that was what he was expecting. But it felt okay to laugh. She even started laughing too.

If this was a dream, that meant he couldn't have her.

But it was still a dream. So maybe in a dream you could have anything you wanted. Even if it was until you woke up. Then you waited for that dream again and again every time to went to sleep...

I used obsess over living
now I only obsess over you

''C'mon So-ra!'' Sakura sang, pulling on his hand.

She took him to the edge of the shore, right where the sand met the sea. On the edge of the world...

This has been said so many times that I'm not sure if it matters
but we never stood a chance and I'm not sure if it matters
if you are the shores I am the waves begging for big moons

''Now look.''

''...What am I supposed to be looking at?''

''Lives.''

Sora thought he misheard her. The stars? Lives? ''What? Lives?''

Sakura nodded and began walking down the beach. ''There are so many stars here. You know what a pretty thought is? A star appears every time a life is saved. Or when lost friends are found.''

He jogged up to her.''But there are so many stars, Sakura.''

''Well, there are lots of people in the world.''

''What about reasons?''

''Reasons?''

''Reasons for one thing.''

Sakura stopped walking and turned to Sora. She looked down in thought and looked back up, her unbelievably green eyes unbelievably wide.

''But Sora, how can there be so many reasons for one thing?''

''Simple,'' Sora answered, and put his arm around Sakura's shoulder.

''I like you Sakura, even though I just met you. One reason,'' he pointed to a star, ''Is because you have a pretty smile.''

Sakura blushed next to him. ''R-really?''

''Another reason,'' another star, ''Is because your personality is so unique-ow.''

''Oh stop it,'' Sakura laughed. ''How can you have so many reason for liking me?''

''That's simple too,'' Sora said, shrugging. ''I just ran out of stars.''

''Well you must think that I'm something special if you can find so many reasons for liking me.'' Sakura smiled and tilted her head at him. Her fingers drummed softy against Sora's shoulder.

And the air exploded with nitroglycerin...

You're on fire when you're near him…

Sakura stretched up on her tiptoes and pushed her lips against Sora's, smiling. The cliché came and went and Sora kissed her back before he suddenly found her running down that last small stretch of beach, laughing. And Sora ran after her. He just did not understand that girl. She was an enigma.

Up ahead, rocks cut into the ocean, waves crashing around them and the spray bursting up like white fireworks. They rained back down into the black ocean depths with all of the drowned stars and the sunken moon and extinguished sun.

''There are stars in the ocean,'' Sakura said, pointing into the water while trying to keep herself steady on the rocks.

When you're with Sakura, you have to think like Sakura.

''Then are those the lives that weren't rescued?'' Sora asked softly.

Sakura's arms dropped to her sides. ''I... suppose they are...''

She knelt down beside the water and ran a hand through it. ''Sora... I hope they're not lonely. They aren't lonely are they? Do you think they're sad or angry that no one helped them?'' She looked up at him with sad eyes, tears rolling down like a nostalgic melody. Like broken music.

Sora smiled sadly and knelt down beside her. ''At least they're together.''

''Yes, that's true.'' Sakura cupped some water in her hands and threw it up against the moon. And just for a moment, the water froze in midair, reflecting against all of the light in the sky and fell back.

The two sat back and Sakura wrapped her arms around her knees.

''Sora?''

''Mm?''

''If this really is a dream, does this mean we might not remember each other when we wake up?''

''I...'' I don't want to wake up... ''I don't know. Maybe we will forget each other. It's usually hard to recall dreams.''

''But what if this isn't a dream?''

''Then it's not.''

''But if it is?''

''You already asked me that.''

''Sooorraaaa!''

Said boy sighed and ran a hand through his chocolate brown spikes. ''I really don't know. If we forget each other, maybe we'll meet again someday.''

''But then we won't know who the other is.''

''Well, look at it this way. If we do meet again, then we'll definitely remember each other. Because our dreams are stored away in our away in our memories. And maybe that dream ends up under tons of other memories and we don't remember each other right away, or we might not even remember each other at all. But the thing is, is that we still in each other's memories because... well... yeah...''

Sakura giggled. ''So technically, what you're saying is that we'll always be in each others hearts?''

Sora smiled. She was a complicated simplicity. ''Yeah. That's what I mean.'' Sakura leaned against him and Sora rested his chin on her head.

You're my only hope.

They would be like this forever. Unless it was a dream. If it was, they would wake up and search for each other. They could forget. Then they could only hope that they wouldn't wake up from this picturesque fantasy.

When I look at the stars, I'll only see you...

Sora toppled off of his bed and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

- - -

Sakura pushed her window open quietly, careful to not wake up Kero.

- - -

He breathed in the fresh air and the scent of ocean water that was carried by the wind. The stars burned brightly in the sky like miniature fireworks.

''I don't know where you are right now, Sakura...''

- - -

''...But I remember you Sora.'' Sakura leaned farther out the window, resting her elbows on the frame. ''I hope you remember me too. One day...''

- - -

''...I'll come looking for you, Sakura. Even if you won't remember me...''

- - -

''...Then that'll be okay. Because it's like you said...''

- - -

''Our memories are always with us.''

- - -

''And you're always with me.''

- - -

When I look at the stars, all I'll see is you...
