Destiny, greatness - there are times when Clark grows tired of these words.

He has heard them so many times, from so many people. Jor-El thinks he is destined to rule the world. His parents, Chloe and, most recently, Lionel Luthor see in him the potential to save mankind. Even those less knowledgeable about his abilities, such as Lex or Lana, have said to him at one point or another, "You're destined for great things, Clark."

He knows that, in a way, all of them are right.

He knows he could rule the world if he wanted to, but he does not. He knows he could save mankind, but he is not so sure he is up to the task. He knows he is destined for great things, but he has never been able to fathom just what those things are.

There are times when it seems only one person doesn't see him as someone with a grand future. This person is Lois Lane.

To tell the truth, Lois never really sees him as much of anything. She never expects him to be great. She only ever expects him to be Clark Kent, and she only ever sees him as the one thing he's always wished he was: normal.

So naturally, it is for her alone that he wants to be super.
