Okay... this is also now a cross over with Hellblazer, which i also don't own
If the Cat was still with Kyo, even he would have purred. It was almost ridiculously warm on the roof and Kyo found he had nothing to complain about. For once. He wasn't stupid, he knew the rest of the cursed would start interrogating him about his cure soon. He also knew that Anna was really going to start WWIII, not that she cared. Hell, for the moment Kyo didn't care. It was too nice under that sun with a little autumn breeze.
He couldn't purr, but he could moan. It felt like staying in the caccoon of warmth on a winter morning. Oh, he still found the Rat to be insufferable, but knowing that the other was still cursed made it seem like picking on a dying man. Unsatisfying. Even the thought that despite his cured state the Sohma god would still lock him up didn't penetrate his fog of content. He was no longer bond, he could simply up and leave after graduation, maybe even before then. Anna did say that she knew people.
Besides, having his soul entwined with that of the Cat's for so long had made certain attributes of the Cat Cursed permanent. Such as his power over spirits. He could always ask some dead spy how to get away undetected. He may not have learned to use his abilities beyond communicating with the spirits who were already there, but he didn't really need to.
The sun really was quite nice. It didn't take him long to fall asleep. But, as the day wore on and the sun's warmth waned, restlessness roused him from his slumber. Stretching in satisfyingly painful arches, his eyes of blood rubies blinked several times. Blink. Blink. Blink. Ghosts of deceased Sohmas who had been in seeing range of this image could not help but wish that they were still of flesh, that boy was just too delectable to be mere eye candy.
Kyo, unknowing of the impure thoughts that he had aroused in the dead, nimbly stepped off the roof onto the ground. He started to walk away from the Sohma property. About half an hour later, Kyo was bored as he trudged through the streets. Night would fall soon but he did not feel like going home, he really did not feel like being asked questions that he would not answer. Thus, he trudged. He did not watch where he was going. When he finally looked around to see where he was, he almost cursed. Cursed. It figured that he would find himself where the magus wannabes would be. He had heard the ghosts laugh at these idiots, at how they actually believed magic could make their lives better.
Idiots.
He turned and made his way to leave, when he saw someone in a cracked window. A man with fading blond hair and an almost psychotic smile waved at him. The man's trench coat looked like it had seen better days, if the blood staining the hemming was any indication. Kyo rolled his eyes and walked towards the cafe. He ignored the bell and the greetings of the owner.
"Kitten." Gods, he hated that grin.
"What the Hell are you doing here Constantine?"
That grin was more shadow than light. "Big bad demon. Date."
"Damnit, almost fifty and you still talk like an idiot."
There was no pause. "Fuck you."
"You wish."
"Pretty little BOY." He did not sound too irritated. They both knew he was too lazy to actually learn Japanese in depth. Damned British bastard.
It was quiet for a bit, Kyo ordered a milk. He ignored the look of amusement on the older man's face. "What do you want?"
"Talk."
"Don't bullshit me Constantine. I'm not one of your toys. We're not friends. We're not enemies."
"You owe me."
"I didn't need your help."
"I see. Want be demon's whore."
"What do you want?" Kyo did not need to be reminded of what his bastard of a father had done. He did not need to be reminded that he had been auctioned off to the highest bidder, or that the bidder had been looking for a pet for a demon prince. No, he did not need to be reminded at all.
"Not much. Help. Demon. Easy."
"Liar." It didn't take a genius to figure out why he had walked so far from his usual treks. This man was dangerous. "What do you want?"
A mock shrug. Seemingly careless. "Hatsuharu Sohma."
"Why?"
Kyo was wary. He doubted that it had been out of the kindness of his heart that the Englishman had 'saved' him from slavery, he doubted that very much. He doubted that this man ever did anything out of the kindness of his heart, assuming he had any. The elder had occasionally popped up to say hi and would disappear again. Kyo wondered at such times what the man had planned.
He did not like the feeling of being an investment. He did not like the thought that his cousin would be dragged into this world.
"Brat holds demon soul."
"No idea what you're talking about. What the fuck do you want me to do?"
"Fuck him."
"What?" Kyo didn't wait for the answer. He upped and left.
The owner turned to the Englishman with a glare that made it quite obvious he was expected to pay for the boy's drink. He chuckled. That kid. It would be interesting if the brat ever really got into this world. Worrisome too. There was potential in that kid, not as much as Timothy Hunter but still there was potential. Hunter was power, but Kyo was something different. He wasn't even like John, no he was too honest to be like him. But he wasn't stupid either.
He would do perfectly.
Kyo scowled as he stormed up the stairs to his room. He ignored the calls of the various cousins who had come over. He fell to his bed with substantial anger. He should have seen this coming. He knew Constatine had 'saved' him for his own gain, he should have known that his use to the man would be along this vein. He owed the man nothing.
He was not going to fuck someone just because the bastard told him to.
He was not a whore.
He was not someone's pet.
No.
The door opened and tainted light crept into the unlit room. He could hear the steps of the mouse. Or rat. Either creature would be prey. But this rodent had never really lost to the Cat. Anna's words came back to Kyo and he found the thought rather irritating. If you cannot be something, you assimilate it into your life. How weak. He'd like to be calmer, but you don't see him lusting after Hatori.
"Stupid Cat. But I guess I can't call you that anymore."
If that pansy came one step closer, Kyo did not know if they will ever find all the pieces of the body. Lucky for Yuki, he had some sense to stop.
"You are a self centred bastard. You're not the only one who has suffered from the curse. You have no right to keep this information to yourself."
"What do you know about magic?" The boy on the bed did not wait for an answer. "What do you know of consequences? Magic isn't an easy answer. It's not kind. It takes from you more than it gives. It destroys lives. Arrogant fucks who think they can use magic end up in body bags. Don't fucking tell me that I have no right. You have no right to expect a person to give up their life, Prince."
"What are you talking about?"
"It takes a lot of spiritual energy. Permanently. To cure one person would take the equivalent of four average shamans' spiritual energy. I was lucky. Damn lucky. Once that energy is gone it cannot be replaced. Cannot be regenerated."
"What do you know about magic?"
"Enough to never want to try it."
Yuki left. It was obvious his cousin would speak no more on the subject.
THE NEXT MORNING
Anna walked as a queen would walk as she approached the massive doors of the Sohma Estate. The guards that greeted her did not know whether to laugh at the audacity of this girl or to whimper in fear. She was a plain girl, to say the least. Long blond hair that didn't quite shine like silk and black eyes that did not glitter like jewels. She was thin, almost lanky. She was not luscious, but it could not be denied that she was a female. Indeed, she should be plain. If not for the divinity that seemed to envelope the girl.
She was power wrapped up in hatred after all.
The poor guards knew not what had happened until an escort had appeared to take this girl to their clan head.
Anna followed the man who would show her the way to the false god. The blind poet had once said quite profoundly, if somewhat sarcastically, that it was better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven. The itako mused viciously that this false deity must have been everyone's bitch in heaven to want rule such a diseased clan. Yes, the sickly form that met her does appear to be one of a frightened little girl dressed up in daddy's clothes.
Akito glanced up from where she sat. The guards had not said that the visitor from the Asakura clan was a girl. She scowled. She hated girls being in the same vicinity as any of her twelve. He pushed the thought of the cat away. That monster was not worth her thoughts.
Black eyes burned her. A voice too cold to be mortal reached her ears. "Do not ever refer to Kyo as a monster. Ever."
Rage filled the false god. "You dare tell me what to do girl? You dare?" a pause. "He is mine. Stay away from him."
"Yours? Kyo is his own."
"Fool. You have known him for how long? Do not think I have not heard of the ugly wench who dared to slap my Hatsuharu. You have been here but two days and you dare intrude upon my family?"
"I have known him since before his mother decided to kill herself."
"Liar."
"I have known him since before he started his training. I have known him since before you defiled his sanctities. I know him. He knows me."
"Get out!" the false one's rage is bound to attract attention from her well trained hounds. Anna found she did not care as she stepped forward and gripped the other's hair. Such a weak excuse for a being.
"Do I frighten you false god? Or do I anger you?"
"How dare that cat tell you our secrets!"
"You claim to know who I am, yet you know nothing. I know your every thought. I know your every emotion. I know your fears. Poor little lost girl. Stay away from Kyo. Do not ever even contrive of hurting him in any way. He is not yours. He will live, but not in your pathetic little cage. You will die from this curse False God. But Kyo, he is free." she threw the sickly one to the ground
The blond brushed passed the frantic guards who dared not lay a hand on her. Who was she? To cause such fear to shine in the eyes of the fallen god? They rushed to the one on the ground, desperate to change her mood. Whoever the girl was, she had just unleashed hell on the Sohma.
Anna smiled. It was not a pleasant one. Though, the boy who watched her from a tree branch found it charming. A smile to match the one below traced cruel lips. This was the cruelty that had brought about the curse on this family. This family had dared to question him, dared to say they were greater. This was the cruelty that had cloaked their cure in the guise of curse. This is the cruelty that wanted that girl as his.
Kyo was jolted from his nap when someone hit his tree. Hard. Scowling, he glanced down to see a smiling Anna. Warning bells rang in his head. Shit, why didn't he buy that bomb shelter when he had a chance? He leapt down, he landed on his feet nimbly despite the impossible height. Even if the Cat no longer nested in his mind, the vengeful spirit had been his one constant companion since birth. The feline had given him presents that many knew nothing about. Gifts are not meant to be returned.
"Who did you kill?"
"How vulgar."
"Whose mind have you twisted beyond sanity?"
"It wasn't sane to begin with."
"Compared to what they will be like when you're finished?"
"No one you need to worry about."
"I don't need you to protect me from Akito."
"I recognized the handy work. I know the one who started this. That bitch is nothing but a forgotten doll whose crafter does not even give a damn she exists."
"I do not want to know."
"Good. I'm hungry."
Grumbling, Kyo started his way back to Shigure's house. This girl really needed to learn how to cook. He had a feeling that she had had servants at her beck and call before she came looking for him. Honestly, was she that lazy? No, he knew she wasn't He also knew that she couldn't possibly be that bad of a cook. Not if she had walked all the way here with no money.
He just hoped the stupid dog kept his thoughts clean.
Unfortunately, Kyo was never really lucky. Though it was rather interesting to see Anna killing the perverted dog with her beads. He should have guessed that even her jewellery was dangerous...but seriously, shouldn't the string have given by now? It was with professional interest that he watched the pervert go blue. Honestly, a grown man so easily killed by a mere slip of a girl.
"Anna. He pays the bills." the girl looked thoughtful for a moment before releasing the lech.
Shigure coughed before grinning. "So, Anna is it? How is it that you know our precious little kitty?"
Kyo had to remind himself of what he had just told Anna. Unfortunately(?) If he so much as punched the baka inu, the itako would take that as a go ahead in killing the dog. Kyo wasn't lazy, but he didn't feel like dealing with bills, they tend to be very boring. But he did wonder, why the hell did she come here today. Did she really want to deal with all the questions?
The girl just looked at the dog. "That is none of your concern."
"Oh, I think it is."
Kyo was really quite glad that the damned rodent and Tohru had gone shopping. He wouldn't put it past his friend to not dissemble the dog and throw him to...well, the dogs. He wondered if they had any lime in the house.
"Do not test me. If I say it is none of your concern, then you would do well to not interfere."
"By law I am his guardian."
A smile that should have never left hell. "You will find, Sohma Shigure, that the laws you speak of do not apply to me."
"Frightening."
"You have no idea."
"Then tell me, what is my business?"
"Kyo does not know how he was cured, only that he was. It is pointless to ask him. Before you ask, I have no intentions of helping the rest of you."
"How cruel. Not even a hint?"
"If you want the cure, find the curser."
"How kind." Shigure's voice was rather dry.
"Death alone cannot destroy one whose very whim lasts so many generations. I believe one of yours has met him."
Kyo nodded grimly. "Hatsuharu."
Shigure turned sharply. "You know who the curser is?"
"No. But it's hard to deny it when you see him. But I wouldn't try anything if I were you, the Destroyer is not one to be played."
Light clapping could be heard. Asakura Hao walked in from no where and took a seat at the table. His smile was oddly charming. Fire luring a child with its light. And the idiot dog was seduced, Kyo twitched. Hao smiled at the former cursed, but a glance from Anna prevented anything else.
His smile easily seduced the dog.
His smile easily made wary the cat.
...His smile did nothing for the itako for whom he had travelled so far.
