Is Change Really Good?

You look at him and wonder how he manages this. He's just standing there watching them put his old carpet back and you wonder why. Never knowing why. It confuses and intrigues you at the same time. That he wants this. He was shot in this room, his blood in that carpet. Remembering that day brings tears to your eyes…you almost lost him that day and don't want to remember it. The scar on his neck constantly reminds you of that.

Inside you know that he'd never want you to bring up how you felt that day. How worried you were. Walking next to him she looked at him, at the scar, then down at the carpet.

"All change is bad? It's not true, you know."

As soon as the words leave you mouth, you look at him with a soft smile. He looks back and you're caught between that moment for a bit and wonder if you should lean forward a little. However, you hold back. It's not the right time…it has been difficult and strange.

You watch as his gaze returns to the carpet and then your gaze returns also. It's that split second, that one glance and you know he's awkward once again. Always awkward and silence is the best way, you figure, always has been and always will be.
