I decided to try something different. This is my 'something different'.

This story will probably end up being longer then I think it will. I guess we'll just have to wait and see :P I revised it, because I mixed up some characters, and I redid the first chapter after I straightened everything out. Sorry if there are any mix-ups!

Note: In the course of this story, there may be spoilers for the all of the sailor moon series mentioned once in a while. Just a warning.

Disclaimer: I do not own Sailor Moon

Prologue

She ran towards the door.

"NO!" she screamed, "NO! Stop! I won't let you-"

"Serena." he turned towards her, holding the sword in his hand, "Above everything else, I am your husband and I am a warrior. It it my duty to protect what is mine."

Serena shook her head, "No, I won't-"

"Chaos is marching on our city as we speak." he said, "She played us, Serena. She made a tready with us, and she was just playing us."

Serena turned around, hearing the explosions in the distance, and the ground shook again. Her beautiful city was being destroyed. Everything they loved, everything they had fought so hard to protect was going to be destroyed because she had-

She could barely stomach even thinking about it. The whole of the situation had not even hit her yet. As the reports were comming back from the front, they had lost the solar castles on the allied planets. The closest sister system was on their way for reinforcements, but as far as Serena knew, they were being attacked by the dark forces as well.

The Tau Forces.

"Serena." Mamoru clamped a hand on her shoulder. Taking off his uniform jacket, he slipped it over her shoulders, "I will fight to protect what we have."

"What DO we have, Mamoru?" she whispered, "Everyone's fighting and dying...everyone-"

"Everyone believes in you." he smiled brightly at her, "Everyone believes in what we have. You're not the only one that cares about this Universe, Serena."

"Mamoru-"

He kissed her, "I promise that everything will be alright. You will wait here for me, yes?"

She could feel the tears sinking over her cheeks.

"Serenity..."

"I promise." she said, "Even if I have to wait forever."

Jupiter slammed her first into another Tau force solider. They kept comming, from where she did not really know, but they were formless, shapeless beings. They gobbeled up the Solar army and ate their souls. Jupiter could hear the cries of the unfortunate around them.

"Damn it!" she roared, "Damn it, where are the reinforcements?"

Mars shook her head, "We can only do so much. The other systems are being attacked as well. The Bellatrix System, Canius, Vega...they are all being attacked."

"Damn it..." she cursed, "Where's Mina?"

Mars' eyes trembled at her, and she shook her head. Jupiter let out a vicious curse, Minako was gone...

There was a rumble, a different sort of rumble, but familiar. The scream of a World Shaking shot past them and slammed into the enemies attacking them. Uranus landed next to her. Jupiter stared at her horrid appearence. There were tears pouring down her cheeks, mixing with the dirt and blood the covered the rest of her.

"Haruka-san-"

"They murdered them." she murmured, "They murdered my family, Makoto."

Jupiter did not say anything as she watched the aura surround her commrade.

"Michiru is gone." Uranus murmurded, "Setsuna managed to sacrifice herself to close the time door. At least they go back in time and kill us all. Hotaru..." she stopped a moment, "...she's disppeared. She was the only one able to pass threw the Forbidden Door. She's gone into the Tau galaxy all by herself."

"Haruka-"

"Tell Her Excelency that we'll fight them in hell even if we have to." she said.

Jupiter watched as her friend shot towards the dark army. The explosion engulfed them, and that was the end.

She turned to Mars. They were the only two left.

"Rei."

"We'll go down fighting, Mako."

They stared at each other, and turning towards the cries of Sailor Chaos' dark force, they walked on.

He threw himself at Chaos, blocking her sword.

"You're fight is futile." Chaos smirked at him, whipping the black sword threw the air to clear the blood off it.

He staggered backwards, "I can't stop. I refuse too..."

Serena sunk to her knees on the floor of the royal hall, wrapping her arms around herself.

Mamoru...

Unless she did something now, the war would be lost and everyone would be dead.

She suddenly found herself chuckling as she stood up.

It always came down to her in the end. During these times, sometimes she wished that she had just remained some normal, carefree citizen on earth. Married to Mamoru, a few children, with a nine-to-five job, a car...was that much of a dream? Too her it was something that she could always fantasize about. Having a life that she could call her own, and knowing that someone else more powerful then her could protect everyone else for once.

Sometimes it made her guilty to think such things. Right now, she felt like she was entitled.

With Mamoru's jacket still resting on her shoulders, she walked towards the enterance of the massive, crystal palace. As she walked through the streets, the building were falling, and burning around her. Most of the people had already been evacuated, but she could see the fallen around her, and it brought tears to her eyes.

Rini.

She still had not told Mamoru yet, no doubt he would be estatic if he knew. Pulling the jacket closer around her, she walked up the cobblestone street. Hearing a cry of a Tau force solider behind her, she simply raised her hand and vaporized it into a burst of light. It attracted others nearby.

She was running now, pointing hands at her attackers. It was against the morals to simply destroy something, but she was beyond caring. All she wanted was things to be back to the way they were before.

That was all she wanted.

Chaos cackled as Mamoru fell to knee, blood seeping from the wound in his side. It was too close to his vitals, he would not survive that wound...

"Damn you." he murmured, looking up at her, "Why? Why did you have to come here and-"

"I'll tell you why. You're going to die anyway." she walked towards him. The wind nipped at her wild, dark hair, her red eyes glowing at him, "Because I could."

He gapped at her, "What?"

"Because I could. Because this can be mine." she held out her arms, sneering at him, "All this beautiful purity and power in the hands of a little bitch that doesn't know how to use it. She's even a traidor to her own kind. Marrying a human? A child of the stars like her marry a commoner like you?"

Mamoru gritted his teeth, "What does it matter where we come from?"

"It matters." she said, "It matters because you're a tint on the royal bloodline of the cosmos, Chiba. You can't handle the power that comes along with blending yourself with someone like Serenity."

"You're talking about her like she some sort of thing." he growled, "You don't know what you're talking about."

Chaos raised the sword again, "You know what, Chiba?" she chuckled, "For a time, I envied her. I envied her for being able to even get a handsome, loyal man such as yourself. For a time, I would have made the same mistake Beryl did. Making a war on such a scale for a man. Such foolishness."

"Mamoru!" a voice traveled over the battlefeild.

"Serena..." he murmured, "No! Get away!"

Chaos ignored them, and she brought the chest down into the center of his chest. Serena stopped, seeing him sink foreward to the ground. Drawing the sword back, Chaos turned towards the moon queen.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Serenity-chan." she said, "You're quite a legend throughout the Chaos and the Universe for being the most powerful being alive."

Serena ignored her, walking over to Mamoru. He was gone.

He was gone...

She sunk to her knees, and laid a hand on his face. It was already cold.

"They tell me you can fight and defeat your enemies now without killing them." Chaos snickered, "Let's see if the saves you!"

She rose the sword into the air, and to her shock, Serena caught the blade inbetween her fingers.

"Neo-Queen Serenity." Serena stood up, "When you are in my territory, you shall refer to me in formal terms."

"You little-"

Shoving her backwards, Serena rose her hands over her head, the eternal staff appearing in her hands. Whipping it through the air once, she planted it swiftly into the ground.

"I do not have the strength to beat you." she said, "But I can do something else."

"You fool!" Chaos screamed, "If you do this-"

"I would gladly give my life up if it would return everything to how it was before you came." she said, "I only wish I could do more..."

"NO!" the black-haired queen shook her head, "NO! Stop! You don't know what you're doing!"

"I know exactly what I am doing."

A light erupted from the staff and swollowed the planet. Looking over her shoulder, she let go of the staff, and walked backwards. Metallia disappeared into a whisp of light. She would be bound to her own planet. It would not stop her from sending her forces to other worlds, but enough time to hold her.

Serena gathered Mamoru into her arms, and smiled sadly.

"Rest with me, Mamo." she murmured, touching her lips to his forehead, "Rest with me, and when we wake up, this will all be over, my love."

The crystal structure began to grow around the staff of the light, and when it reached them, Serena looked towards the dark skies.

She would be back. Mabye it was take a year, decade, or a millenium...but she would be back. Everything would return to normal again, and she would have her life back. Maybe it would be an abnormal life, where she had to go to peace tready meetings, sit in a dressing for hours while her assistents demanded that they tend to her every need, or where she was ruler of the free Universe...but it was her abnormal life. A life that she never regretted for a single moment.

The darkness began to creep over her as the crystal cover her.

A single tear slid down her cheek, "Mamo...sleep with me." she said, "We'll never be alone then, hm?"

Then she knew nothing more.

I decided to take a little old-school trip back and write a Sailor Moon fic. Why? Because I can. I don't know exactly how long this story will end up being, but I think it'll have a good number of chapters. It won't be the top of my priority on my fic list, but I will update enough where hopefully people won't want to stab me. The next update will hopefully be soon.

Review and tell me what you think :D
