Looking in on Change

Two years. It’s been two whole years since Sage found me on that rooftop. It doesn’t seem like it happened that long ago. Then again, it doesn’t feel like I was in the X-men that long ago either, or even in the Brotherhood. Time’s just like that I guess. The only thing that seems long term is my powers. I can remember exactly how long I’ve had those for.

It’s still weird to me how things ended up. I would figure I’d still be with the X-men, and there wasn’t any team like the one I’m a part of now. I’m glad life had a way of working itself out. I have the best friends, the best family I could ever hope for. I don’t feel so alone anymore. My life is nothing compared to what it was when I first touched Cody at that dance.

It’s kinda funny that with all this love and happiness going on in my life, no one knows my real name. I don’t even know why I keep it a secret anymore. I think it’s because my absorption powers changed who I was so much; the name I once had means nothing to me now. Yeah, I’ve changed a lot, not just from them, but from when I first joined up with these weirdoes I call my friends. I’m a bit more social and open than I was. Of course having Gambit for a boyfriend kinda resulted in that. He’s responsible for a lot of the good in my life, and a lot of the annoyances.

Clearly, I’m not the only one who has changed.

Sage hasn’t changed that much. She moved into her monitor room. I can kinda see why. We have so many people here now, and she just gave her room up. It’s better to be closer to her work I guess, but sometimes we worry that she just has this thirst to know absolutely everything. I guess that’s part of who she is, though. She’s become more used to having us all around, and lets us go on a lot more missions than she did.

Psylocke has changed a bit I suppose. She cut her hair a few weeks ago, making it just below her shoulders. She’s even kinda proud of what she looks like now. She’s even more confident than she was. She tries to show that she’s over what Emma Frost and Revanche did to her, but you can tell she is still a bit haunted by it. She and Warren are still together, and I’d like to meet the next blonde who wants to try and tear them apart. Betsy’s always gone off with him, but she’s still around.

Domino is so much different than she was the day I met her. She hasn’t been the same since she took Vanessa’s life. We will get one of her old wise cracks once in awhile, but it’s nothing like it used to be. She’s so withdrawn now. Sometimes I think she’s only here because she has no where else to go, and she still wants a few things in her life to remain the same. Or maybe she just stopped caring. Whatever it is, I’m just glad she hasn’t taken off again. I think Cable could also have something to do with her staying, but again, I’m not sure.

Lorna is basically the same person she was, though her confidence skyrocketed. She’s still a bit shy, but she’s a lot more secure of herself than she used to be. She’s really adapted to this way of life. She even cut her hair. It’s about the same length as Betsy’s. She also doesn’t wear that huge sweater anymore, though she just got a newer, smaller one. She and Bobby are still together. I’ve never been able to figure out how she stands that idiot. I doubt I ever will.

Just like her sister, Wanda’s changed a fair bit too. I don’t even think I can explain the differences that occurred within her. She grew her hair out. Her anger, though, I have no clue what happened to it. She didn’t kill Magneto and I still don’t know why. That’s what she always aspired to do. It’s almost like she tucked away all of her malicious thoughts. I’m not sure if something happened in Mexico that changed her ways, or if it’s just Pyro that keeps her like this.

In my eyes, the person who has had the most change in their personality, or look, would be X-23. She’s less naïve and a bit more socialized with the world around her. She’s become a bit sarcastic and bitchy. She does still have her little confused moments, which we have all grown accustomed too. She’s even dating that guy she used to hate, Julian Keller. Those two have been off and on again ever since they hooked up. Pietro’s in that mess somewhere too, but I don’t really pay attention to it. It’s just weird seeing her with anyone.

We’ve all changed our equal bit since we all met up. We live in a bigger house, with two of the most irritating males ever. Yes, Pyro and Gambit live with us. I don’t know what the hell Sage was thinking when she allowed that to happen. I don’t even wana remember the first week they were with us. We even have an odd alliance with the X-men, and though I’ve been long done with them, I still keep in contact with Kurt and Logan.

Why am I even thinking about all of this stuff? I’ve seen it all with my two eyes, yet here I am reflecting on it for no reason at all.

Hmm.

I guess I’m just looking in on change.

Next Chapter: Double Mission

A/N: Okay, just this chapter was in Rogue’s point of view. I did that because the beginning of the first fic was based on her joining up with the team, so I wanted to show what the team looked like now in her point of view. Just a little intro to the fic and a bit of character things I’m planning. The title is based on a music video I made about the team awhile back, so yeah. If anyone was wondering about that. It also has to do with a lot that will be happening in this fic. I’m not sure how long it will be right now. As for updates, I’ll continue with Fridays and sometimes Saturday depending on school. Anyhow, I hope everyone liked this chapter and please review :). Oh and here’s some ages incase any one is curious and ya:
