Chapter 5

Bittersweet Revenge

Winerva gathered her things together and mounted her skewbald stallion. The shire would usually be pulling the caravan but today he only had one rider. Winerva wanted to find her daughter and inform her of her father’s death, the rain outside gushed down in torrents but Winerva did not care.

Fallon walked around the grounds trying to find something to keep her occupied, she could go on a ride with Moondance but she was not in the mood. So instead she wondered around pointlessly until she caught sight of her mother breaking through the trees; she was soaked. Her hair was tangled with leaves and twigs, she had scratches on her cheeks and she was tired. Fallon rushed over to her and helped her over to a seat in the grounds. “Mother what happened?” fallon inquired as she sat with her,

“Your…father…your…father is…gone,” Winerva faltered

“Where has father gone?” Fallon said confused

“Fallon don’t you understand, your father is dead” Winerva said, she wasn’t exactly breaking the news to her daughter gently.

“What? No! He can’t be!” Fallon turned away from her mother and rushed up to the stables where she hauled Moondance out of her stall. Drake and Josh had been in there at the time and asked where she was going, she did not reply but instead rode off and out of the city. Fallon could not believe what she had just heard; he was not dead. He couldn’t be.

She reached the caravan and pulled Moondance to a halt, she dismounted and made her way over to the door. She wrenched it open and saw the gruesome sight within. Fallon gasped as she saw the lifeless body of her father laid on the bed. His clothes were bloodstained and he bore bruises and wounds from the attack. This isn’t happening Fallon thought to herself, “No” she whispered. As she crossed the room to her father she held his hand in her own and a pearly tear ran down her face, why was this happening. WHY? Who was going to be there to walk her down the aisle? Who was going to be there to hear her speech? Who was she going to turn to when times got rough? Who was she going to come home to when she felt alone? There were so many questions rushing through Fallon’s head, but the most important one was… Who did this?

Fallon raced home to find her mother; she did not have to look hard as her mother was sitting with Tamara. The pink haired beauty stood up as she saw Fallon coming, “Fallon I heard about what happened and I’m so, so-” she began

“Mother who did it? Who killed him?” Fallon interrogated

“I don’t know his name, he had fairly light brown hair and really vivid blue eyes. I thought it was Drake at first-” but Fallon had already stormed off and was in search of the trainer that so many had trusted…David.

“I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him, I’ll kill him,” she muttered under her breath.

David was in the grounds with the pack and was in the middle of a training session when Fallon walked up to him, She punched him in the face and began kicking him in the stomach. Drake ran over and pulled her off him, but she carried on kicking and kicking and in the end it took all three knights help to get her off the wreck of a man. “Why did you do it? Why did you kill him?” She yelled

“What do you mean? I didn’t kill anyone,” David said calmly as he wiped the blood that trickled down the corner of his mouth away,

“Don’t lie to me! You killed my father and I’ll kill you!” Fallon screamed, as she broke free from her stunned fiancé,

“Yes I killed your father!” David said in a harsh voice, “But If you weren’t wearing that Moonstone I’d kill you too!” and as he said it Fallon tore her Moonstone off and threw it to the ground

“Go on then kill me!” She screamed, Drake advanced to help his fiancé but she stopped him.

“This is my fight not yours!” She screamed as she fought David off. He clasped his hands around her throat and squeezed. She choked for air, she kicked him in the groin and pulled his dagger as she did. David got up in agony and ran towards her. However she was ready and lifted the dagger at the same time whispering a spell and plunged it into his stomach. David froze. "No." He whispered. He staggered backwards and fell to the ground. His eyes still open.

"DAVID!" Starla screamed as she ran down the gardens towards him. "Fallon! WHAT did you do!" She bent over his lifeless frame. She grabbed her sunstone from her chest and tried with all her might to revive him. "You put a killing spell on that dagger didn't you! you cold hearted bitch!"

Fallon stood in cold shock. She dropped the dagger and raised a hand to her mouth. She turned on her heel and ran to Moondance.

It would take all summer to forgive Fallon. Fallon knew it and didn't plan on trying to speed up the process.
