Well, this is my first Code Lyoko story. As I told you, it’s an UlrichOdd story. The title basically says it all.

Chapter One

Am I Really Stupid?

“Ulrich.” Ulrich looked over at Odd, who had just sat down by him on the bench. “What?” Odd kicked at some dirt with his feet. “Do you think I’m stupid?” Ulrich looked at him in surprise and he would have laughed but he saw Odd was serious. “Well, stupid may be a bit strong. Why do you ask?” Odd sat back and sighed. “Some boy just called me a stupid little fairy.” Ulrich nearly dropped the book in his hands. “Odd, do you even know what that means?” Odd tapped his chin in thought. “Um, that he doesn’t think I’m very smart?”

“No Odd. The word ‘fairy’ is rude and mean way to refer to someone who’s gay.” Odd’s eyes widened in surprise. “But, I’m not gay.” “I know that Odd. And they probably do too. But they’re making fun of your bright purple outfit.” Odd was quiet after that. Ulrich felt slightly guilty. He laid a hand over Odd’s as a gesture of comfort. “Odd, some people are so immature, and others have to put other people down to make themselves feel better. And if anyone ever calls you a fairy or anything like that again, you tell me and I’ll make them eat their words.” Odd smiled.

“Thanks Ulrich. I feel much better now. And, um, you can let go of my hand now.” Ulrich released his friends’ hand, blushing slightly. “Oh, sorry Odd, guess I got carried away.” Odd laughed. “It’s okay, it’s nice to know I have a best friend like you.” Ulrich arched an eyebrow. “Like me?” Odd tapped his chest lightly. “Yeah, like you. Someone who’s strong and kind, and always there for a friend when they need it, yet willing to tell the truth. Even if that truth is a little bit hurtful.” Ulrich couldn’t help but smile.

“Thanks Odd. Nice to know you feel that way about me.” Odd smiled in the sweetest manner he could. “Well, I’ve got get going. Bye Ulrich, see you later!” He waved as he walked away. Ulrich gave a small wave. ‘Oh, Odd. If only I could get up enough courage to tell you how I really feel about you.’ Ulrich sighed and closed his book. He was late for his study date with Jeremy.
