Chapter 1: Annie

Annie Wheaton sat in her room playing with the doll house she had acquired three years ago before leaving Rose Red. It was a miniature model of the house. She hated thinking about that house. It brought up so many bad memories. Too many people lost their lives in that evil house. Her sister, Rachel or Sissy as she was better known as, and she were tow of the group that survived. Steve had survived as well and was now married to Sissy. Annie was currently living with them. Emery and Joyce also survived. Emery was writing a book about the experience at Rose Red. Joyce had become mentally unstable and was committed to an asylum after they left Rose Red. Then there was Nick. He came to visit every weekend to see how she was doing. She loved when he came to visit because he always brought her a red carnation. She wasn't sure when it happened. No, that was a lie. She knew exactly when she developed a crush on the charming, sarcastic, British telepath.

It was the first day she met him. Sissy and she had walked up to the group who was standing around the van. He had smiled at her. It had caused her heart to flutter, which in turn caused the wheels on the bikes to start spinning. That was when Sissy yelled at her to stop it and Emery had insulted her. Nick had defended her to Emery. She knew at that exact moment that she had feelings for him. Her musings were interrupted by the doorbell ringing. She smiled knowing it was him and went to answer the door.
