Prologue
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the great Akira Toriyama or Rumiko Takahashi character's, places, and things.
A young man around seven years of age, wearing a blue Chinese shirt and black drawstring pants, looked across at his family gathered. The mourners have left, the extended family had gone home, his father's friends have returned to wince they came, leaving him, his younger siblings, and his mother left. Hiryu Saotome, had spent the long hard days following his father's heart attack, mourning his father's passing, while secretly wondering how he, his younger twin brother and sister would be able to complete the martial arts training, without their father to guide them and train them. His mother was better than average weapons fighter, she had excellent skill in swordsmanship. But his father wanted them, to follow his path of unarmed combat. He looked to his younger brother, Ranma, the pint sized pig-tailed martial artist clutching his mother desperately, his twin sister Ranko doing the same on the other-side. Nodoka herself, gently consoling her two youngest children, with words of comfort and gentle hugs, then two five year olds sadness and grief slowly subsided for a bit. She knew she was in for more than a few long nights with them. She looked up at her eldest son, who gave her a weak smile before looking thoughtful, even at his surprising young age the boy held intelligence for someone twice his age.
"Mother, father made me make a promise. That Ranma, Ranko, and I go out on a training journey, and finish our martial arts training," he said softly.
Nodoka frowned, she remember that pact, it was before her beloved yet annoying husband had come down with the strange heart illness. He was going to take all three kids on a training journey to make them masters of the Art. "Son, your only seven and your brother and sister are only five, it would be impossible for you to go by yourselves."
Hiryu's eyes downcast, "It was father's last request, he gave me all these training manuals, guides of places to train, and even gave me his forbidden techniques. I know I'm not old enough, so about I take them out to forest just outside of town and train them there using all those things father gave us and we just come back after every other month?" he asked.
This gave his mother a pause they would not be to far away; if she wanted to know if they were all right all she have to do is make weekend trips to the forest campgrounds. She smiled, "Very well, Hiryu, that would be fine. Just remember stay near the camp grounds, so I can visit you on the weekends."
Hiryu smiled and went over to hug his mother, tightly, "You got it mom," he said softly. Nodoka hugged back just as tightly, while both Ranma and Ranko shared annoyed looks at their older brother.
Five Months Later...
Hiryu had just finished teaching and learning all what been given in the pamphlets, on martial arts techniques, minus the really scary Neko-ken training. He read everything including the fact knows one trained with that anymore since it drove the subject nuts. So he skipped that going for the more impressive works of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kun Do book his father had manage to find. After he would finished reading then learning everything until it was perfect and perfected he would then turn around teach Ranma and Ranko it, after they learned the basics, they go into these long sparring matches, that would last the majority of the day. As promise Nodoka would arrive each weekend to see how they progressed, and was amazed at how well they were doing, turned out Hiryu had a knack for learning and teaching the art, while Ranma and Ranko seemed to have this ability to absorb each thing taught. She knew by the end of the year they would have completed the training, stuff they had given then would want to begin the journey part, going to the different martial arts training sites that Genma had left them. She sighed heavily; it was inevitable they would leave. She thought at first about going with them, but she needed to stay behind run the house. She knew they be around a few times to visit, she bit her bottom lip and she wondered how they would react to the fact that Hiryu or Ranma would eventually have to get engaged to one of the Tendo daughters. She remembered how well Ranma and Akane had gotten along, before the funeral. She remembered Ranma looking so lost when Kimiko's youngest daughter ran up to the boy sitting next him asking why he was sad. When Ranma explained, the girl pouted, then gave him a big hug asking him if he wanted to color with her. Ranko feeling left out went with them, and three hours later Ranma's depression was changed to that of pure delight. She smiled at the memory, Maybe he remembers that day, and maybe the engagement won't be so bad. But unlike my husband I will not force him or Hiryu to decide.
Seven Years Later...
Hiryu was now 14 years old his hair looking wild and going all over the place, following behind him were his 12-year-old siblings Ranma and Ranko, all three looking tired. As they enter a valley filled with bamboo poles, springs, and a short looking guide dressed in a Chinese Military outfit. He walks, "Good Mornings Sirs and Miss, welcome Cursed Springs Training Ground Jusenkyo. A tragic tale for each spring."
Hiryu frowned slightly one of over a dozen training areas that had catches to them, he was beginning to think that his father was a moron, time after time that line of thought was being proven and reproven. "Why are these springs so bad sir?"
"Each spring have own tragedy happen, a person, animal, or otherwise has fallen in these springs and drowned, so many tragedies happened that a curse had befallen this place. Now whoever fall in spring, will take the body of whatever had drown in it," he pulled out a rat and toss it into the spring in front of them, when the rat emerged it was now a black piglet. Hiryu cautiously looked over to make sure the guide wasn't pulling their leg when he saw no rat; he was convinced.
Hiryu gave a good look around and found poles that weren't over any springs or even close to them. "Can we train over there away from these springs," he states pointing to the poles. The guide nods and walks into his hut, he pulled out a map of the springs, which held the names of each spring. He noted that something new had been added by his daughter, who had gone off to school. His eyes widen.
"Oh dear permanent spring," He runs out of the hut just in time to watch his guests converge over three poles. They were engaged in a series of midair combos before all three plummeted to the ground crashing through some highly disguised dirt, wood, and water. "Oh dear you three fall in permanent Spring of Drowned Monkey Tailed Alien, 12 year ago a spherical object fall from sky on night of rain a seal broke of spacecraft causing baby alien to drown. Now whoever falls in spring get Monkey Tail."
Hiryu was the first to crawl out holding an orange ball with four stars; Ranma and Ranko appeared shortly later, all three crawling out. Hiryu stood up and watched as his new appendage start moving around, to his temperament, "Damn it," he mutters.
The guide looks at all three sadly, "See you have now Monkey tail, so far none have fall in spring so have no knowledge of what curse does, other than give monkey tail."
Ranko snorts in a very ungirlish manner looking to her twin brother and their eldest brother. Her hair had become wilder than it usually was, Ranma's seemed fine at the back of his head except the fact it broke off the area his pigtail once was now jutting straight out with a smooth part in the middle then goes up from there, (Goku's hair), her's didn't mimic that, instead seemed to bunch up close, she then looked over at Hiryu who's hair seemed to just jut out in front in odd angles,(Gohan's hair after he comes out of the Hyperbolic time chamber during the Cell Saga). "Yeah I guess that spring should also be called spring of wacky hairdos."
Ranma snickered at his sister’s remark, he notices something about himself, he felt lighter than he had been. "Well, how do we get rid of these tails then?" he asked.
"Once we tell mom I'm sure she can have them surgically removed," Hiryu replied looking down at the small orange ball he found. He wasn't sure what it was but he had a feeling deep down it was special.
Not far away a young girl around Hiryu's age with blue-green hair, and deep blue eyes was holding out a round object scanning the surrounding hills. She was dressed in a pink outfit, that barely reach her thighs, the outfit had the word Bulma written on it, and at her waist, was a belt that held myriad of items, including a steel case filled with hoi-poi capsules, her father's most talked about and useful inventions. Those Capsules made Mr. and Mrs. Briefs very wealthy people in a short time. Bulma Briefs had grown up spoiled, but was feeling lonely, most guys in her high school, could only see her money, so she decided to go on search for the dragon balls to wish for a guy who had no idea who she was or how much money she had. She managed with the help of her father to build her Dragon Radar to find those elusive and sought after orbs, according to the legend there were seven and once gathered together you can summon the Eternal Dragon and be granted one wish, for anything your heart was to desire, good or bad, the Dragon had no loyalties.
Bulma clicked the radar twice and found the next ball she was looking for was in the valley next to a set springs. She hopped on her bike and sped forward determined to get her wish. As she came around the mountains and into the valley nearly collided with the three people who had her latest quarry. "AHHH!" she screamed screeching her bike to a halt.
Hiryu, Ranko, and Ranma all jumped clear as the bike crashed. Hiryu landed first spinning around getting into a defense posture, his siblings closely following. "What are you doing attacking us?" he growled.
Bulma slowly stood up, holding her arms in a defensive, "Wasn't my fault, you guys just walking in the middle of the road like that!" she stated irritably.
Ranma tapped the motorbike, a few times looking at it oddly, "What a weird bike."
"It's a capsule bike, which is now busted thanks to you three," Bulma snapped. Ranko walked up to her poked Bulma in the chest, the blue-green haired girl blushed, "What are you doing?"
Ranko looked up, "Yours aren't as big as my mom's, but their bigger than mine."
"That's because I'm older than you," Bulma yelled mortified at the other girls bluntness. Hiryu tried hard not to laugh, his sister and brother were quite the pair, they still maintained much of their innocents over the years, so they were still very naive on some issues. "Now Ranko, it's not polite to poke or judge a person."
Ranko pouted, "But I want big things like mom!" she whined.
Hiryu laughed hard, "Don't worry sis their genetic, your just a late bloomer," he stated Ranko smiled walking over to Ranma who was still poking over the capsule bike. Hiryu turned to Bulma and bowed in apology, "Pardon my siblings, they tend to speak out what's on their mind. Names Hiryu Saotome, those two are my younger brother and sister, Ranma and Ranko."
Bulma sighed, "Name's Bulma Briefs," she paused waiting for the traditional replies like, 'Wow as in like Inventor of Hoi-Poi capsule Briefs' or 'Wow, your daughter of Dr. Briefs'. After a few seconds she watched the boy who was about her age nod, with no recognition on his face.
"Nice to meet ya, Bulma. Sorry for the accident we caused," Hiryu stated suddenly his tail appeared.
Bulma did a double take, "Y-You got a tail!?"
Hiryu looked sheepish and scratched the back of his head. "Um, sorry about this, long story," Bulma did the only sane thing she could do when she saw Ranma and Ranko reveal their tales, she feinted.
Author's Note: This is a fusion of Ranma/DB and DBZ, elements are like such, Ranma, Ranko, and Hiryu take the place of Goku, there so it's doubtful Radditz will make an appearance, Vegeta and Nappa will. The DB storyline will be skipped with some minor flashbacks telling the story. Ranma will take Goku's role as the central character even though the sole made up character took center stage, during the prologue. There's no Chi-Chi, no Yamcha, so that means no OX king, Oolong, or Paur. Roshi, Krillin, Piccolo, Kami, Mr. Popo, Yajirobe, Tien, and Chaozu will appear. The Canon Ranma series will take place with some major changes, since Genma died before taking Ranma on his training trip, he didn't meet Ukyou or Ryoga, they did meet the Amazon's but things went differently. To take up the slack of no Genma, Soun's wife doesn't die and depending on what you believe her name was either Kimiko, Keiko, or Kikyo, I'll be using Keiko. As it is most of the character's in this will be slightly out of character, namely Ranma, Akane, and Nabiki, see why during the story. Also Bulma and Hiryu, kinda fall for each other, Vegeta won't get killed and stay that way, I already took the liberty of giving him a mate as he says it.
