A collection of song fics about either E/C or R/C. This is entilted 'You and Me' because I thought it was fitting. Chapter One is 'Iris' Although the title says 'You and Me'.
You and Me
Song 'Iris' by the Goo Goo Dolls
Christine looked warily over at Erik. He was eyeing her with something she couldn't place. She wasn't sure what it was, but she could feel it in the air. She shivered, and turned to look out across the lake, yet she could still feel his cold stare of her spine.
The hair on the back of her neck began to stand up, and goose bumps formed on her arms. She shivered with the chill. "Please. Stop staring at me like that Erik. You make me feel so young and vulnerable."
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
His voice rumbled, "Compared to me, you are." Christine flinched at what he could possibly have been implying there, but she didn't want to think about it.
"I'm not a child any longer. You still may be my angel, but I am not the girl you used to teach." She said, trying to swallow down her fear.
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
His laughter echoed, loud and hearty, but at the same time not a real laugh. "That may be Christine, but that does not change the fact of what we are." He gestured wildly to his mask, which lay above the disgusting disfigurement beneath it. "You married me Christine. Don't you remember?"
She looked at him, and he smirked. "Yes. How can I forget so suddenly that I'm married to you Erik?" Her voice attempted to feign sweetness, but it wasn't working out as much as they had both hoped. Silence stood between them, seeming to push them apart when Christine blurted out, "Oh Erik! Do take it off, please!"
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
He blinked twice. She had never asked him to take it off. He placed a hand on his ivory mask, and watched her, waiting for some sign of repulsion. But she barely moved. She barely breathed. He pulled it off slightly. Still nothing.
"All the way off Erik." She said gently. Her brown eyes stared deep into his gold ones, and for the first time, he was the one who felt uncomfortable about the whole situation. He was the one who felt vulnerable.
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And the mask slid off and fell to the floor. The noise seemed to echo dully around them. Erik winced, preparing himself for Christine's shriek of terror, or some other fearful reaction. But all she did was smile.
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
All she did was smile at him.
