A/N: Hello! I’m happy to say that this is the beginning of a new fan-fiction. I’m so happy, because it’s been such a long time since I started a new one, in my opinion anyway. You’ll never guess who’s doing the disclaimer this time…I would like you all to say hello to Miss Kairi. She’ll be also doing the second disclaimer at the end of the chapter, since I’m too lazy and everything. -Sweatdrop- What can I say? I have tons of other things to do, lol. Anyway Kairi take it away.

Kairi: Hello, I hope everyone is going to like this fan-fiction. FlowerLady-Aerith can be so strange at times, don’t you think? You should’ve seen her last night…she was about to fall out from exhaustion from DDR. Riku had to knock her out and Sora and I dragged her upstairs and threw her in her bed, don’t tell her that though. She doesn’t know how she got there. Anyway, FlowerLady-Aerith doesn’t own Kingdom Hearts.

Anything For You

Disoriented

Strength isn’t measured by brawn

But by heart

The heavy odor of blood and must filled the air. Screams could be heard from all around the burning garden. The once lush streets of Radiant Garden were now being burned down to the blue cobblestones that blanketed the streets, and even they were being degraded into ash. Large embodiments of darkness marched throughout the garden attacking anything in their path. Their bright yellow orbs cut through the eternal darkness that covered the once beautiful, peaceful place.

In the center of the terror was a great palace, the target of the darkness. Inside there was a secret meeting being held between the great Merlin, a merely lucky sixteen-year-old boy, the King and Queen of Radiant – and their princess. Merlin and the majesties were speaking in hushed whispers while a few feet beyond them the lanky boy and the princess were waiting.

The boy kept his eyes focused on his bloodstained yellow shoes. Among the footwear, the gloves that black gloves that covered his hands and the rest of his black outfit were also bloody. Several scratches were deeply marked into his tan skin; a specific one slashed through his left eye was blocking his vision. His chocolate brown locks were sticking to his sweaty face except for some locks that were sticking up from the center of his head like a rooster’s feathers would. His cerulean eyes glanced beside him at the fearful princess.

She was to be considered the most beautiful girl in all of Radiant Garden. After all she was the daughter of King Ansem and Queen Luna. She was Princess Kairi. Her face usually held a pleasant smile that was favored among most of the townsfolk – that were now being devoured by vicious creatures of darkness. Wasn’t he lucky to be one of the last people to look upon her lovely lightly tanned face? To see her intriguing amethyst eyes that were the only ones to have the right to wear the label ‘exotic’; that were now filled with fear and worry for both her personal safety and those who lived in the kingdom.

She was dressed in a lavender gown that stopped on at the tips of her white slippers that held no heels. The straps were sliding off of her shoulders showing signs that the dress was a little too big for the princess, besides the fact that her cleavage was partially visible. Not that he had noticed. Her flaming auburn hair was tightly fastened with several sparking diamond clips that formed her gorgeous mane into a French bun. The princess was not known to wear it down, ever.

Princess Kairi directed her gaze to the boy beside her; she had noticed he had been staring at her for quite a while. A sad smile formed on her red lips only enforcing the fact that she was very frightened by the entire ordeal. “Are you scared too?” she asked in a perfectly tuned voice destined for the heavens. The words simply slid out of her mouth so clearly and innocently.

The boy was taken aback. Had he really been staring at her that long? He was silent. Why weren’t his mouth muscles responding to the commands his brain nerves were sending? Was there some sort of traffic jam? He opened his mouth only letting is terrible breath escape from the gap. He quickly closed it with the palms of his hands.

The princess didn’t notice the foul, foul odor that had been released into the wild. Instead of making faces she tilted her head. “Is there something wrong?” she inquired once again hitting the poor boy with her beautifully arranged voice.

“Nothing,” the boy croaked out. His cheeks turned red and he quickly directed his direct vision to his shoes while his peripheral vision still stayed on the lady. She giggled sweetly. She gently placed her hand on his shoulder as if to say, ‘It is all right understanding the circumstances.’

As things seemed to be fine and the battle going outside seemed to disappear – it all came back in flash. Thousands of dark creatures flooded the palace chapel, which they had come to for refuge. Princess Kairi screamed covering her eyes with her delicate hands. The boy’s eyes widened and he took a step back as the creatures approached. Merlin quickly created a glowing white barrier around the five.

“How long will it hold up?” the king asked referring to the barrier the great Merlin had just created.

“Not long enough,” Merlin replied holding his hands in the air as he watched the dark creatures be destroyed with one touch of the shield. The Queen frowned and beckoned the princess to come to the arms of her beloved mother.

Princess Kairi did as she was told and quickly…but gracefully ran into the arms of her mother tears falling on the lovely white satin dress the woman was wearing. “Don’t cry darling,” the queen cooed as she gently stroked her daughter’s hair.

“But mother we’re all going to fall like the rest of Radiant Garden!” Princess Kairi cried burying her head further into her mother’s clothes and smelling the sweet scent of her cherry perfume, because of this she did not notice her mother secretly slip something into her pocket.

The Queen looked over at her husband expressing her worry only in her indigo eyes. The King nodded slowly looking over at the boy who had fallen on the floor and was now staring at the shield in awe. Sadly, a boy of his stature had never gotten a chance to see great magic at work, so it had caught him a little off-guard.

“You,” the king sounded his deep voice echoing throughout their little bubble. The boy stumbled to his feet his cerulean eyes meeting the man’s fierce blue ones. “You will escort Princess Kairi to the gummi ship on the other side of the palace and take her to Traverse Town.” The boy was shocked. Did the King actually trust him, a mere peasant, to take care of his one and only daughter? “Do you understand?”

By the restating of orders the boy knew he wasn’t dreaming. “Yes your majesty,” the boy replied bowing humbly.

The distraught princess burst into tears upon hearing her fate. “No father don’t make me leave your side!” she pleaded releasing her mother and running into her father’s arms. “Please! How will I live without the two of you by my side?” she whined pounding her fists onto the King’s chest. He gently pushed her away staring directly into her amethyst eyes that were beginning to get red and puffy.

“Now what princess acts like you are?” the king asked raising his left eyebrow. Princess Kairi shook her head looking the other direction; she had no intentions on listening to another one of her father’s ‘listen to my command’ lectures. “Go with this boy, you must save yourself so you can continue the Radiant Garden legacy, you are Princess Kairi you must fulfill your duties.”

“Who will know if I don’t?” Princess Kairi inquired. “Everyone is dead! Why can’t I just die along with my lifestyle! I don’t deserve to live!” she shouted slowly loosing her stance and sinking to the floor. “I don’t deserve to live!” she cried again sobbing into her hands.

The King looked over at the boy who was still baffled. The whole ordeal was both scaring and confusing him. What was he supposed to think? He wasn’t even a resident of Radiant Garden. “Take her,” the king commanded lifting his daughter from the ground and gently pushing her in the boy’s direction. The boy nodded grabbing the princess’s hand and quickly walking towards the edge of the shield.

With a wave of Merlin’s hands the barrier was gone and the creatures leaped into action immediately attacking the threesome. Princess Kairi looked back to see her father and mother fighting off the heartless to the best of their ability. She cried out their names attempting to run back, but he had already pushed her into the hallway and closed the door sealing any further contact between the loving family.

“We have to keep going,” he said pulling the mess of a princess down the hallway as she quietly wept. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. She had probably just lost the only people in the world that would ever show her unconditional love. Now she would just be looked at as ‘The only survivor of Radiant Garden’ rather than ‘Princess Kairi of Radiant Garden.’

The boy kept a stern face. He would have to block out the princesses’ cries if they were going to make it out alive and in one piece. “Where are the nearest gummi ships princess?” the boy asked addressing her in a very sincere manner.

Princess Kairi looked up slightly shocked. She hadn’t expected him to talk to her. She took a deep breath attempting to calm herself down. The princess cleared her throat and was now able to speak clearly. “If we take a left in the next corridor there will be a pair of large wooden doors leading to the gummi hangar,” she explained in her sweet and newly raspy voice. The boy nodded mentally taking note of her directions.

“If we are going to stay alive we need to stay quiet,” he whispered. Princess Kairi nodded walking closer to the boy. She was scared and mostly scarred eternally for the rest of her emotional life. The boy grinned. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you forever princess,” he said squeezing her hand in reassurance. She smiled weakly tightening her grip on his hand.

“Something isn’t right,” Princess Kairi whispered staring at the back of the boy’s bloody head. He stopped suddenly feeling a wave of distress sweep over him. Something big was coming; he could feel it in his bones. The bones that were now aching and wishing for him to rest, but he did exactly the opposite.

“Run!” he cried. The instant he cried thousands of dark creatures flooded the corridor cornering the two survivors. Perhaps they wouldn’t be known as the only survivors of the Radiant Garden massacre? Princess Kairi shrieked cowering behind the boy who was just as scared as she was. They were weaponless, there was no possible way they could defend themselves.

“Protect!” Princess Kairi shouted raising her hand into the air. Out of her palm emerged a silvery liquid that spread about the couple shielding them from the creatures. “That will only hold for so long,” she replied frantically. The princess looked to the boy for answers, but he had none.

He looked behind him staring at the lovely princess. How could he let the King down? It had been his final wish, and he had been too weak to fulfill it. “No,” he whispered balling his right fist. “Lower the shield,” he commanded.

“But we’ll be killed!” the princess cried staring into his cerulean eyes.

“Trust me, you have to trust me this once princess!” the boy pleaded. His eyes showed his worry, but he wasn’t about to back down. The princess nodded regretfully. The shield disappeared leaving them victim to the creatures. The black bodies sprinted into action leaping to attack the two. Princess Kairi shrieked grabbing the boy’s bloody back for shelter, but he could not provide any.

A white light emerged from the ground and covered the boy and the princess completely. The boy felt something buzzing in his right hand. He looked down and saw a silver blade forming in his palm. He gasped shocked, why did the blade resemble a key? What was he supposed to do with this key? Why did the key come to him? He was suddenly torn away from his thoughts upon hearing the princess’s shrill cry. Princess Kairi had been struck.

“Princess!” he cried. As if on instinct the boy swung the key at the monster destroying it in one slice. His eyes widened. This wasn’t just any key; it was the legendary keyblade. The keyblade had chosen him?

Now wasn’t the time to think. The boy needed to get the princess out of here. He quickly lifted her from the ground. “Come on!” he shouted. He began running through the dark creature’s formation slicing anything that got in his way. He would get Princess Kairi out of here; now that he had some sort of weapon they had a chance of survival. They had a chance of being the only survivors of the Radiant Garden massacre! It wasn’t something he would be so proud of.

Princess Kairi was hardly able to breath. Running had never been her best asset, especially since she happened to be literally, running for her life. She didn’t have time to look back or process where the boy was taking her. All she could think was ‘keep going’ it was her only determination. Everything faded into slow motion. The boy had turned around and had started screaming at her, but she couldn’t comprehend a word he was saying, everything went black.

Princess…

…Princess?”

Please you have to wake up.”

Eyelids slowly rolled up revealing beautiful, exotic, but drowsy amethyst eyes. They wandered around the light blue room to the face of a tanned brunette boy who looked very relived. These eyes belonged to none other than Princess Kairi. She quickly sat up off her cushiony bed. “Are you all right?” she asked fearfully examining all the dirt, blood, and scratches all over the boy’s body and face.

He only grinned. “I should be asking you that, once that thing slashed you across your back…I thought you were gone,” he replied. “I had to carry you the entire way to the gummi ship, it was hard, but I managed.”

Princess Kairi smiled. “Thank you for saving my life,” she whispered sweetly. “How can I ever repay you for your great kindness…?”

“My name’s Sora,” he said finally introducing himself. He gently picked up her hand and kissed it figuring it was how she was used to being treated. Sora wanted to make this as easy on the princess as possible. “Don’t worry about it princess, I don’t expect anything in return.”

“Well in that case, please just call me Kairi,” she said with a smile. That’s when the pain hit her like a brick colliding with her head. She groaned suddenly crouching over. Sora gasped quickly but gently laying her back down on the bed.

“You need rest…Kairi, you’ve been through so much today and you must feel weak so let me take care of everything,” Sora said placing the blanket over her frail body. “I understand how it is to lose everything, so just rest.”

Kairi shook her head stubbornly. “No, I-I can’t let you do everything y-yourself,” Kairi stuttered finding it harder and harder to process words. Her eyelids started drooping and the room began to blur. She saw Sora looking down at her with concern and saying something that she couldn’t make out; then everything went black.

Sora frowned as he stared down at the sleeping princess. “I guess this really has took a toll on her…but what do I do now?” he asked himself. Sora sighed and spun around on his heels. He wished he could sleep, he wished he could tend to his several wounds, but he had a job to do. A job in which he would complete at all costs.

He exited the sleeping quarters and walked down the long, blue, metal corridor that led to the cockpit. Sora had set it to autopilot, but he figured he should be there if there should be some sort of problem. He slumped down into the pilot’s chair staring out into space. He had to admit it was very soft and made him feel really…sleepy.

Sora’s eyelids started to droop as he fought to stay awake. “I…can’t…let-,” Sora mumbled before a loud yawn erupted from his bowels. There was no avoiding it; Sora was about to fall asleep. “No…no,” Sora whispered before drifted into his slumber. His bloody head dropped to his left shoulder and his hands lost its grip on the control board and slid downwards switching off the autopilot.

The gummi ship slowly started its descent towards the bowels of space. Sadly, the only two souls aboard this cruiser were unaware that they were headed to nowhere. Hours passed by quickly and the gummi ship’s descent picked up speed as they fell. Soon enough the ship had flipped completely so it was falling nose first.

Sora’s body flew into the windshield with a loud cracking sound echoing from his back. He winced quickly waking up. His cerulean eyes widened as he saw the sight of space spiraling around in circles. “Princess!” Sora cried flipping over, but his body was still tied to the windshield. The gummi ship was moving so fast he couldn’t move a limb on his body. “Princess Kairi!” he yelled as loud as he possibly could.

The boy could only imagine her limp body being crushed under tons of metal chunks. He bit his bottom lip looking to the door that led to the sleeping quarters. “I have to get there,” he gasped closing his eyes. A scream suddenly sounded from behind the metal door. Sora instantly recognized it as Kairi’s; after all he had heard it the entire time on Radiant Garden. “Princess!” he shouted.

As if on queue the door opened and Kairi fell through. Sora strained trying to reach out for her, but instead of grabbing her she fell onto the windshield right next to him. “Princess, are you all right?” Sora asked worriedly. Kairi panted trying to breath, but she found it hard since her lungs were being crushed onto the windshield.

“S-Sora I-I-,” Kairi gasped as the side of her face was trying to become one with the windshield. Sora moved his arm over to her and moved it under her stomach. Kairi groaned as she was slowly pulled over to his side. Kairi looked up at him as she was positioned to lie on his body.

“We’ll be all right,” Sora cooed trying to console the distraught princess. Kairi peered over his shoulder looking straight out the windshield. Instead of seeing only space she saw another world growing larger as they approached. She gasped watching as they entered the world’s atmosphere. Flames appeared around the tiny ship as their speed increased. Kairi felt as if her rib cage had crushed and all the splintery bone pieces had pierced her inner organs.

The princess tried to scream but only air came out of her mouth. Though she wasn’t the one getting the worst of it. Sora was being crushed between both her body and the strong windshield of this gummi ship. He was afraid if any more weight were put on him he and the windshield would shatter.

Down in the world of Traverse Town the citizens were carrying out their usual routine. The bakers were baking, the servers were serving, and the merchants were…merchanting. A little brunette girl skipped around the First District of Traverse Town happily licking a blue ice cream bar. She suddenly heard the sound of something burning. The girl looked up at sky and saw a flame engulfed gummi ship quickly descending down into another district.

The little girl couldn’t see over the tops of the roofs so she couldn’t see the large impact the ship had on the ground. She only saw the rise of the flames over the town and she only heard the crackling sounds of scrapping metal. She screamed loudly her ice cream slipping through her fingers and falling to the ground with a quiet splat. It wasn’t only the girl that had realized Traverse Town had just been crashed into; the other citizens had rushed into action.

Like an elite force blue mages ran towards the third district where the collision had occurred. Behind those blue mages ran a couple of white mages. They would be going to see if there were any injured victims. In spite of it the entire incident little girl became overwhelmed and fell onto the ground.

A tall feminine figure stood over the little girl; a smile was on the pink lips of this woman. She was wearing a button-down pink sundress that was covered by a cropped red jacket made out of jean material. On the woman’s feet were thick brown boots that were carefully laced into perfect bows. The woman’s brown hair was tied back in a long braid that fell to her waist. Two pink ribbons were holding this braid together. The woman bent down showing the little girl her emerald eyes. “Are you all right Marlene?” the woman asked in a soft-toned voice.

Marlene slowly nodded. “I’m all right Miss Aerith,” she replied in a squeaky childish voice. Aerith quickly examined Marlene noticing that the little girl had chosen to wear her hair in the same style. Aerith smiled lifting Marlene off the ground.

“Now what is going on here?” Aerith inquired. “What collided into the ground?” the woman repeated with her hands on her hips the black bracelets around her wrists clanking together.

“A small gummi ship crashed into the Third District,” Marlene informed as she dusted off her white sundress. “It was engulfed in flames and it spiraled into the ground!” she exclaimed her chocolate brown eyes gleaming with excitement. Things as unusual as this usually didn’t happen in Traverse Town.

Aerith smashed her fist into her palm. “I guess we should help out then,” Aerith said with a sly smile. Marlene nodded eagerly and offered her hand out to Aerith who gladly took it. The two walked hand-in-hand towards the sight of the collision.
