“Your eyes... are... cer... cerulean... orbs,” Kiba struggled, grimacing slightly with the effort of making the words sound sincere rather than memorized from a dating guidebook.
It was their first official date, and Hinata didn't need the Byakugan to see Kiba's nervousness. Hell, even Naruto would have noticed. And that was saying something.
“Nice try, Kiba-kun,” she giggled quietly, “but you don't know what 'cerulean' means, do you?”
Kiba promptly became fascinated with his shoes and mumbled something intelligible.
Hinata laughed, and reached for his hand.
Later that night, Kiba decided as she led him away, he was gonna burn that damn useless book.

49. Adore
She wakes one morning to Kiba, fully awake and lying beside her, eyes open.
“What are you doing?” She whispers sleepily, and he smiles.
“Watching you sleep,” he whispers back. He leans in to kiss her forehead, and she wraps her arms around him, snuggling into his warmth.
And promptly blushes, because while Kiba may be fully awake, he is most certainly not fully clothed...

He paces back and forth, back and forth, back and forth across the pink-and-white tiled floor, hands in his pockets and eyes on the ground.
Hinata is on the other side of that wooden hospital door. She's screaming in pain, and he can't do a damned thing.
Pink, white, white, pink, back and forth and back and forth.
The screaming finally stops, but not really—it's quickly replaced by another's screams.
Kiba can't help himself anymore. He bursts through the door, ready to either kill the nurses for making his wife go through so much pain or—
Pink.
Hinata's brow is covered in a slight sheen of sweat, but she looks happier than ever. Cradled in her arms is a rosy-cheeked child, wrapped in a blanket and crying like—well, like a baby.
Kiba touches the baby's face with a loving gentleness as Hinata whispers, “It's a girl.”

22. Crumble
They watch as Kurenai gently lays the flowers on the grave, and she feels his hand tighten around hers—or is it her hand tightening around his? It doesn't matter, she decides as the funeral procession trickles out the gates. But seeing their sensei like this—grief-stricken, desolate, alone, broken—Hinata can't help but wonder—will this be her fate, too?

04. Lost Scene
“Mommy,” a little girl tugs at her shirt, “when is Daddy coming home?”
Hinata reaches down to pat her daughter's head. “I don't know, sweetheart..
The little girl frowns and goes back inside the house, but Hinata will wait.
She will wait.

“Mommy, when is Daddy coming home?”
“I don't know, sweetheart,” is the only answer she can ever truthfully give.
Hinata will wait.

“Mommy,” the little girl asks softly. She isn't so little anymore; it's been two years. “Daddy isn't coming home, is he?”
Hinata turns to her daughter and cries.
