A/N: Two words: it's. Corny.
...Really. o.o
December 25th, 2oo6
Okay, so Christmas is supposed to be a happy time, right? Well, it is. Destiny Islands, albeit living in a tropical climate with no snow, was a very festive place. Christmas was also Sora's birthday, ironically. ("His birthday's on Christmas, and when he stabbed himself, he bled no blood, but light. This proves Sora's Jesus." Riku would always joke.)
It was also the day Sora had to leave again to save the worlds.
Sora and Riku received a letter from the King, saying that they needed to go fight again.
It also said not to bring Kairi, for worlds where a Princess of Heart resided were protected from the danger of the Chasers.
Violet eyes wrenched shut with pain as her two friends left through a black portal. She never wanted this day to come. Ever. The day they had gotten rid of Xehanort was supposed to be the end. "Wherever one of us goes, the other follows", whatever the hell happened to that? Just the possibility she could never see Sora again.
Sora. . .
He was perfect. Like a dream come true. Kairi had often gotten lost in oceanic blue eyes, those eyes that were always filled with concern and determination. She just wanted to run her fingers through his chocolate spikes of hair, and kiss him until he couldn't see straight.
Was that too much to ask?
Apparently, it was.
"Please, Sora, don't go… Not now…" Kairi begged, clinging to Sora's hand, her violet eyes pleading, pearly tears streaming down her cheeks, speckling the sand as they hit the ground.
"Kairi… I have to." Sora said for the thousandth (millionth?) time, but did not sound exasperated, for with every time he repeated it he sounded more sorry and heartbroken than before. His hand left Kairi's as Riku beckoned for Sora to follow, and Kairi could still feel the warmth from his touch.
"Kairi, remember what you said before? I'll come back to you! I promise!"
"I know you will!"
There was the possibility he couldn't keep that promise this time. Every single star was a world, right? There were billions. He would have to save the worlds. One step at a time. He would probably never finish saving them all.
"Sora, wait!" Kairi choked out, and Sora turned around, and their eyes locked for one last time.
"I love you." Kairi said softly, stating those three simple words, and she threw her arms around Sora's neck and gently kissed him on the lips. Her eyelids fluttered shut and her eyelashes tickled Sora's face, leaving her tears on his skin. When they broke apart, Kairi looked away.
"Go." She said, her voice low. "Just go."
"Sora! Come on! The King's waiting!" Riku said again, and Sora followed his friend into the portal. When it shut, Kairi crumpled to the ground on her knees, shaking violently, crying for the loss of love.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come t r u e
All I want for Christmas is...
…Y o u…

Riku had come home.
Sora had not.
Kairi begged her silver haired friend to tell her what had happened to him. Riku would not say a word, but merely shook his head sadly. Kairi didn't want to fear the worst.
Perhaps that's why she didn't go to his funeral.
The King had arranged a large funeral for Sora, who had been gone now for quite some time. Many from other worlds attended. Kairi refused to come, no matter what anyone else said.
"Are you coming?" They would ask, it was so obvious Kairi had been head over heels for Sora.
"No." She would reply, purple colored eyes steely.
"Why not?"
"Because he is not dead."
Everyone would just 'tsk'. She knew what they said behind her back. ("The poor girl, she refuses to believe that he's really gone. That he isn't coming back.")
Kairi sighed as she left a rose on his grave.
Today was his birthday.
Today was also the day she finally gave up.
He wasn't coming home. Not now, not ever. And she knew it.
I won't ask for much this Christmas
I don't even wish for snow
I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the .m.i.s.t.l.e.t.o.e.
I won't make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeers click
'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do
Baby all I want for Christmas is you

Sora smiled happily as he walked along the streets of Destiny Islands. He was home, home at last. After 4 years of adventuring, and 5 years of being stuck in Kingdom Hearts, which he now referred to as the 10th Circle of Hell.
There was one person Sora wanted to see more than anyone, one person he cared more for than anything.
Kairi.
He never got to tell her than he loved her. And when he and Riku split up in the End of the Worlds, Sora assumed he never would. His morale got even lower as he got trapped inside Kingdom Hearts. But he finally escaped, after all these years. He wondered what had happened to Riku, but knowing his friend, he did not worry at all, for a long time ago back in The World That Never Was, Sora had worried and made himself look really stupid. He also wondered what had become of Kairi… Did she still love him, after all of this? He still loved her.
No matter what, that'd never change.
Sora blinked as he reached her doorstep. What if she, say, had fallen in love with someone else? It was possible. After all, he had been gone so long, people would begin to think something had happened to him.
Sora shook his head of chocolaty brown spikes. If she had given up, the he would have to as well.
So with a sigh, he rang the doorbell, and Kairi answered it.
Hell, that was an awkward silence if there ever was one.
"Sora…?" Kairi said softly, her statement turning itself into a question.
It took Sora a moment to respond. Sure, Kairi was beautiful when they were teens, but now she was just drop-dead gorgeous. Her hair now came past her shoulders and her eyes sparkled even more than they did before, making them like shimmering amethysts. Her smile was also ten times as prettier.
"Kairi…?" Sora said, wondering if this beautiful woman was the pretty girl he had fallen in love with at the age of seven.
"It's you, isn't it? It's really you." Kairi said softly, smiling gently, red wine locks falling across her face. Sora clasped her hands.
"It is. It really is." Sora said, smiling his crooked grin like he did back when everything was normal. However, the moment was interrupted by a little tuft of silvery hair. Sora then looked down and noted the tuft of hair was actually a five year old kid.
The kid poked Kairi. "Marlene and Denzel want to know if I can go play hide and go seek with them." He said, sweetly.
Kairi nodded. "Okay, Zephie." She said, nodding. The kid skipped off.
Sora blanched. So Kairi did fall in love with someone else. Well, that was to be expected, wasn't it? He had been gone for ten years. He didn't even manage to tell Kairi that he loved her back that fateful day years ago. She probably thought it was love unrequited.
Sora gave a small sigh and shuffled his feet. "Uh. Who's the father?" He said, gesturing to where Zephie once was.
"Riku." Kairi replied, and Sora felt like a ton of bricks just hit him.
Fuck Riku! Left me in Kingdom Hearts to die, and now he takes Kairi away from me! The little bastard! Sora thought, enraged, and then Kairi began to giggle.
"Hahaha, you should've seen your face! Zephie isn't mine, he's Yuffie's. I'm just watching him until Riku and Yuffie come back from their little party they were at last night. Knowing them, they probably have huge hangovers." Kairi said, and continued to laugh. Sora softened, and in his mind took Riku off his 'No Forgiveness' list.
"Riku and… Yuffie? Have I missed something?" Sora chuckled, and Kairi too laughed.
"You've missed a lot, really." She said, tucking some red tresses back behind her right ear.
"Gah." Sora said, shaking his head. "Next thing you know, you're going to tell me Tidus has paired up with the Queen of Hyperness, also known as Yuna…"
Kairi grinned. "Well, then I won't, because he has. Match made in hell, really. The world died of sugar overdose the day of their wedding." She then motioned for him to come inside. "Come on, I'll tell you everything." She paused. "That is, if you tell me everything first. From the beginning of when you left."
"Okay." Sora said as he walked inside. "Well," he started, and Kairi looked at him intently, "to start from the very beginning, there is something I wanted to say to you but never go to…" He said calmly but his heart was racing a million miles an hour. He slid his arms around her waist and drew her close and then whispered into her ear.
"I love you too, Kai…" He said quietly, using the nickname only he was allowed to use.
Then next thing Sora knew Kairi slammed him back against the wall and began to kiss him fiercely, and he pressed his lips back against hers. After a while, they began to need an itty bitsy thing entitled 'oxygen' and they broke apart.
"Geez, Kairi, we aren't even under any mistletoe." He chuckled and Kairi nestled her head in the crook of his neck.
"Who says I need an excuse to kiss you?" She said with a bit of a purr, trailing her finger along his jaw.
Sora let out a little 'heh' and just held her for a bit. "By the way," Sora said, and Kairi looked up at him, "what do you want for Christmas?"
Kairi giggled softly. Sora smiled, he loved her laugh, it was like windchimes. "I already got what I wanted for Christmas."
"And what would that be?" Sora inquired.
Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see my baby
Standing right outside my door
Oh I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my .wish. come t r u e
Baby all I want for Christmas is...
"You." Kairi replied, smiling.
A/N: Uh. Yeah. . .
You died from it's sheer cute corniness, didn't you? Well, review from beyond the grave, please.
