A/N: Ehhh... The ending was better in my mind on this one.
Twilight Town- Visit
"Hey, Sora, do you know a girl by the name of Kairi…?" Pence had inquired Sora in a bit of a small voice, sounding slightly unsure. Sora couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"K-k-k-kairi?" Sora said, his blue eyes wide in astonishment, and his heart fluttered inside his chest, and the butterflies in his stomach weren't just flitting about, they were having seizures. "You bet I do!" Sora cried, feeling a bit of the heartache he had felt when his friends had romances that ended happily, like Will and Elizabeth, or Donald and Daisy.
"C'mon, then." Pence said, his brown eyes lighting up happily. So she was right. (He didn't really doubt her, the way her eyes lit up and her face flushed with the color pink, and also how she seemed to talk faster whenever it was about Sora, which was really her one and only subject to talk about.) "She's at the station with Hayner and Olette." Pence said, and ran with his usual waddle. Sora followed him; longing to see the girl he had missed so much, and cared for more than anything. Donald and Goofy looked at each other with knowing looks in their eyes, and followed Sora and Pence as well.
Sora skidded to a stop as he reached the Station Plaza, recognizing Olette and Hayner, and his pulse sped up for the second time as he watched the sun reflect prettily off some dark auburn hair. She was talking to Olette, and her friend pointed over to where Sora was standing, and it was as if she had turned in slow motion. They got a glimpse of each other for the first time since that day almost a year and a half ago.
Sora blinked his cerulean eyes. She had changed- but for the better. If anything, she was more beautiful, something that Sora had not thought possible. Her hair was longer, she was taller, and her figure was as fragile (for lack of a better term. Anything else would probably get him slapped one way or another.)
However, the look in her violet eyes, that determination, that spark of never-ending hope, was still the same, just like the smile that was now playing on her pink lips.
"Sora…? Is that really you…?" Kairi said slowly, taking one slow step forward, not wanting to believe what she saw. Gone was the timid Sora from the island days, and now before her a teen with serious determination, and his frame no longer small but rather muscular. (Oooh he's model gorgeous. Not that he wasn't always… Kairi had thought to herself.)
"Yes, Kai." Sora said, softly, using the affectionate shortening of her name. "It really is me." He let out a small sideways kind of grin, just like the ones he always used to have before the islands had been destroyed that day.
Without any notice whatsoever, Kairi had run up and flung her arms around him, causing Sora to stumble back just a bit. Tears leaked from beneath her eyelids, and she nuzzled his face with hers lovingly, eyelashes tickling his face, leaving drops of salty tears onto his tanned skin. Sora wrapped his arms around her, one arm around her waist, the other hand up in her hair, running his fingers through her silky locks.
Hayner sniggered and Donald let out a wolf-whistle. The duck grinned mischievously. "Kairi's coming onto him!" He said, cackling. Goofy glared at him and Olette smack the duck upside the head. Sora and Kairi, however, took no notice at all.
Kairi's head was now neatly tucked under Sora's chin, and Sora felt the temperature rise in his face. He didn't think they had ever been any closer than this. Kairi's lips were near his neck, and he blushed when they grazed his skin slightly when she spoke.
"I missed you… I didn't want to think that you weren't coming home… That'd… that'd be unbearable." She murmured, her hands gripping onto his shirt as Sora rocked her gently in his arms.
"I'm so sorry…" Sora said into her hair, continuing to stoke it. It broke his heart to think that he had caused her grief. He had broken his promise to her.
"What about?" Kairi inquired, her left index finger now trailing along his neck, her touch like a million butterfly kisses.
"What do you mean, 'what about'?" Sora said, surprised, and Kairi looked up at him, her violet eyes blinking. "I broke my promise. I didn't come back to you."
"But you weren't done saving the worlds yet. I meant after that." Kairi giggled quietly, and Sora softened, he loved her laugh more than anything else. She pulled away slightly, Sora already missed the warmth of her body. She cocked her head to the side, her eyes sparkling knowingly. "Did you think I wouldn't like you anymore then I already do?" She laughed again. "Silly. I can't like you anymore than I already do. Because…" Sora's heart nearly thumped out of his chest as she leaned in and whispered three words he desperately wanted to hear.
"I love you."
Sora then heard squawking- Donald's voice.
"Sora? Sora?"
Sora blinked.
He was on the Gummi Ship, headed for Radiant Garden. Kairi had been kidnapped by Axel. He didn't get to Twilight Town in time.
"Sora…" His duck friend poked him questioningly.
"Sorry…" Sora said, running a hand through his hair, blush creeping upon his face. "Just imagining stuff… daydreaming… you know…"
His romance was all imaginary
