A/N: This one was fun.
;
Naminé and Roxas were doing what they usually did every Friday night.
Absolutely nothing.
It was the second to last winter break they would have until they'd leave school, and that was a scary thought. However, neither of them mentioned that, and just continued to throw darts and knives at Roxas's Hilary Duff poster.
"You know what I want to do this year at New Years?" Roxas asked his best friend as he chucked a dark at the poster (it hit Hilary right between the eyes.)
Naminé narrowed her blue eyes. "No matter what, I am NOT going to let you get drunk. You even go NEAR anything alcoholic and I will personally kill you." She said, tartly. Roxas laughed at Naminé's seriousness, he often told her she needed to lighten up.
"Wouldn't dream of it, Princess Naminé." Roxas said sarcastically causing Naminé to stick her tongue out at him. "Actually," Roxas mused, putting his hands behind his head, "I was thinking of trying out that tradition. You know, kiss someone at 12?"
Naminé let out a little cackle. "No girl in their right mind would ever kiss you." She said, bluntly, and chucked a dart at the poster. It hit the idiotic actress/singer in the eye.
Roxas frowned. "You're kidding! There was that time with Tifa…"
Naminé rolled her periwinkle colored eyes. "Tifa is a whore, Roxas. Say it with me. Whore. You paid her to kiss you that night of the basketball game."
Roxas sighed. "Yeah, she is a whore… That was way overpriced…"
Naminé smirked. "But still, I bet you $20 that you won't be able to kiss a girl at 12 o'clock."
Roxas returned the smirk. "I bet you $20 that you won't be able to kiss a guy at 12 o'clock either."
Naminé's eyes glittered, making Roxas melt into a pile of puddy (for some odd reason… Why had he been feeling like a pile of gloop whenever she smiled, lately? He never did that before…), and she spoke gleefully. "It's a bet."
;
Roxas sighed as he flopped down on his bed, and he ran his hand through his head of blonde spikes. He flicked through the school yearbook. He and his friend Tidus had gone through and circled all the girls that supposedly liked them. Roxas let out a little 'tch' of happiness as he looked through the random pictures of groups of friends in the front, and spotted one of him and Naminé. Naminé was up on his shoulders and holding a basketball, about to shoot. He wondered how the heck did that get caught on film anyway? It was times like this when he wondered if he liked Naminé as more than just a friend, but even if he did (which he didn't), it would never work. He was the jock. She was the pre-valedictorian. The most unlikely best friends in the entire school, unless you counted Tidus and Yuna, but they weren't exactly 'friends'. (More like, 'friends with benefits'. Har har.)
Roxas continued to flick through. Aeris? No, too happy. Olette? No, she's taken, by Hayner no less, and that would mean a black eye if he even so much tapped her on the shoulder. Rikku? No, unless he wanted raped. Paine? Too gothic. Selphie? Too random.
Kairi?
Roxas considered this for a moment. She looked almost identical to Naminé, spare the hair color, which contrasted greatly. Naminé was a blonde, Kairi was a deep auburn. But what did that matter? It was rumor Kairi had liked him for a while (but only because Roxas looked like the guy she used to crush on before he moved away), and Roxas had to admit, she was kind of cute. 'But not as cute as Nam.' Roxas thought to himself, them smacked himself upside the head. 'Did I just think that!' Roxas shook his head, spikes of gold falling into his face. No, he didn't.
Roxas dialed Kairi's number, and after two rings, someone picked up, and that someone happened to be Kairi herself.
"Hello? Kairi speaking." The girl's voice said on the other end.
"Hey, Kairi? It's Roxas." Roxas said, and in his mind praised the heavens he hadn't screwed anything up yet. He was, in all reality for being on of those popular guys, really shy around girls.
"Roxas…" Kairi said, sounding slightly suspicious. "If you want the answers to our homework, don't ask me, because I'm not giving them to you-"
"As if I'd want your answers." Roxas said jokingly and on the other line Kairi let out a little 'heh'. "Would you like to come to a party at my place for New Year's… say… starting at around… 11:30? Runs until morning."
There was a pause. "As in… sort of a date kind of thing?" She questioned. Roxas kicked himself mentally. He forgot this was Kairi. Nothing got past her.
"Uhm. Yeah…" Roxas said nervously.
To his surprise, Kairi replied cheerfully. "I'd love to." She had said. Roxas pumped his fist into the air. Take that Naminé! HA! Now he could get that new CD he wanted.
"Okay, see you then." Roxas said and hung up.
;
Naminé was taking a much more different approach than Roxas. Being blonde, she had many more opportunities to attract guys' attention in public. (Blondes have more fun, right?) So she was hanging around the park, attempting the 'Haha look at me, boys. Yup. You can look but you can't touch' kind of thing.
Naminé eyed some of the guys. Too scruffy… Too old… Too young…
Then one caught her eye.
Naminé sucked in some air and gasped.
He looked so much like Roxas…
…
Waitwaitwait.
Why should she care they look so much like Roxas? Well, Roxas was adorably cute. He was also the sweetest, most caring-
Wait.
Ew, Naminé.
This is ROXAS we're taking about. You know, the only guy who can burp the ABC's backwards? Naminé shook her head of blonde hair, this was showtime. Not a time to think about Roxas (of all people. Geez.)
"Hey." Naminé said, leaning against a tree as she spoke to the guy. "Haven't seen you around here before." The guy looked at her. Oooh, they even had the same eyes.
"Just moved here. Used to live here a long time ago but moved." The guy said, and shook his head of chocolate brown spikes. "Sora." He said, extending a hand to shake.
"Naminé." Naminé replied and shook Sora's hand.
"You know," Sora said, grinning (Naminé thought his smile wasn't as pretty as Roxas's), "I was just thinking that you look like one of my best friends here before I moved."
"Heh! That's funny. I was just thinking that you look like my best friend now!" Naminé said, and the two laughed. Time to move in for the kill. Hahaha, guys were such suckers for blondes.
"Hey, would you like to come with me to a New Year's party at my friend's house? Starts at 11:20 and runs until the mooorning…" Naminé said in a sing-song voice, and Sora snickered.
"Do you ask out guys you've just met often?" Sora inquired, interested, and Naminé smacked him on the shoulder.
"I was just wondering!" She said, smiling, and Sora chuckled.
"I was kidding! I'll come." He said, laughing. Naminé brightened.
"Okay then, see yah later!"
"See yah!"
;
It was now time for the party. Roxas and Kairi had been waiting for Naminé and Sora to arrive (they came at 11:40, just to make Roxas mad).
"Well, I don't think we'll end up owing each other money." Naminé snickered, and gestured to Sora. "Roxas, meet Sora, Sora, meet Roxas."
"Hello, Roxas." Sora said, and Roxas nodded his greeting. This little brunette got to snog his Nam. Lucky duck. (Wait, no, Roxas! GAAAH! You're doing it again! You. Aren't. In. Love. With. Naminé!)
"Well, I bet you two know each other, but if you don't," Roxas said, and yanked Kairi over to where he was standing. "Kairi, this is Naminé, Naminé, this is Kairi."
"Oh, Naminé, right? The girl who is determined to get above a 4.0 GPA?" Kairi said, with a chuckle.
"That's me." Naminé said proudly.
It was then time to introduce Kairi and Sora to each other, but it wasn't like they needed to.
"K-kairi? Is that… You?" Sora said, astonished, and Kairi's jaw dropped.
"You've got to be kidding me… Sora?" Kairi said, and the two clasped hands, while Roxas and Naminé just gaped, dumbfounded.
"Yeah! It's me! I just moved back." Sora said, and Kairi giggled. "You look so different."
"Well, you've missed a few things." Kairi said, with a laugh, and tugged on his hand to pull him outside onto the deck. "C'mon, let's go. We can talk about everything."
"Sounds like a plan to me." Sora said, grinning, and followed Kairi out of Roxas's house.
"What the…?" Naminé said, blinking, and Roxas just shrugged.
"I have no idea…" The blonde said truthfully and Naminé laughed.
"Well, we proved each other right. Neither of us have anybody to kiss at 12." Naminé said with a sigh and forlornly watched the ball drop.

There was the possibility Naminé could kill him. But he was willing to take that chance.
Naminé looked at Roxas, because he had a bit of an odd expression on his face. "Roxas, you okay?" She said, and chuckled. "Oh, come on, I was kidding about how no one in their right mind would kiss you, tonight's just a bit of bad luck."

"So…" Naminé said, smiling. "We owe each other $20."
"No we don't." Roxas said, and Naminé looked at him, confused.
"What?"

12:00am.
Roxas, without so much a warning, kissed Naminé passionately on the lips. He had fully expected her to pull away and smack him, but instead, to his delightful surprise, she deepened the kiss and slowly wrapped her arms around his neck. Roxas felt as if he could fly. As soon as the kiss began, it ended, and it took Roxas a couple seconds to realize it did. Naminé's lips had been light as feathers.
There was a long silence and Roxas shuffled his feet awkwardly. "Uhm. Isn't this the part where you slap me for doing that?"
"No." Naminé said, smiling coyly. "This is the part where we kiss again."
"Oooh. I like that part." Roxas said and Naminé laughed and their lips became one again.
