Chapter 2: Custody
There was something in the wind. Something different…
The young shinobi who defied his home village looked at the grey sky. The wind was playing with the leaves and that could only be a bad signal. Or so he thought.
“Konoha…” he whispered in the dark. His companion looked at him.
“Did you say something, Itachi?” Kisame looked at his companion. Itachi was deadly serious as always, but something was slightly unusual.
“Change of plan. I have unfinished business in Konoha” Itachi turned back at him and glared as if daring him to say something against the statement.
“Can I know what is about? You said that it wasn't worth the risk of trying to take right Naruto-kun now. That we should wait”
“I never said something about Naruto-kun. This is personal” Kisame didn’t feel like arguing with Itachi, so he just nodded.
“Fair enough” And with those last words, both shinobi made their way to Konoha.

Something was seriously wrong with Sasuke, Neji had decided. The dark haired genin had been there, just drawing, for hours. Neji had change position a couple of times by himself and other times by Sasuke’s orders.Because his words were far from a request, Neji thought.
And he was still wearing nothing.
Neji was cold by the time Sasuke finished his fifth drawing, and he felt relieved when the Uchiha handed him his cloths back. He dressed without thinking it twice.
Sasuke was revising his new drawings while Neji was dressing. He smirked at the five different sketches. He was satisfied with his work for now. The genin took the drawings and place them in the large box with the drawing book and the carbon crayons. Looking over his shoulder, he saw that Neji was fully clothed again. He took the box and place on the desk at the back of the room.
“I’m going to train with the dobe and Sakura now. I’ll see you in a few hours”
Before Neji could say anything, Sasuke took his lips in a deep kiss. Neji closed his eyes. Sasuke’s hands were tracing his neck for some reason. When the other boy let go of him, Neji saw that he was now wearing an Uchiha fan pendant around his neck.
Neji took the pendant in his right hand and stared at it for a few seconds, then looked at Sasuke, who was smirking. Neji knew that Sasuke was daring him to take it off, but he just wanted to get out of that house at the moment. Neji just slipped the pendant underneath his shirt so as to not let it be seen by anyone.
Sasuke’s smirk went even wider. Neji knew that he had just let Sasuke win over him, and he felt very low for allowing it to happen.
With one hand over his chest, over where the Uchiha pendant was, and the other at his side, Neji walked out of the house with his gaze lowered, as if part of his soul had just been ripped away.

Gai-sensei was going easy on them for two different reasons. The first one was that Lee was still recovering from his operation. The second was that the mind of his students were far away from the current situation. He knew Tenten and Neji were worried about Lee, even though the boy was showing great recovering status. But besides that he couldn’t tell what was wrong.
When Lee’s foot connected with Neji’s chest for the first time, sending him flying, he thought that maybe Neji had under estimated his team mate’s recovery, and when Tenten’s shuriken passed over the Hyuuga’s face causing a little wound, he wanted to think that Neji was distracted and Tenten was getting better. But when Lee hit him again and at the same time Tenten did, he stopped the training.
“Neji” called the jounin, the Hyuuga boy looked over his shoulder to meet his sensei’s serious expression “Something wrong?”
“There is nothing wrong, Gai-sensei” he replied. Gai send him a death glare. Neji hated when he did that. It was telling him without words ‘I don’t believe you and you know it’. Neji lowered his eyes “…I’m just tired”
“Let’s take a little break” Gai announced “Neji I want to talk with you”
“...yay…” Neji thought to himself. Tenten and Lee looked at him with worried eyes. He ignored them and followed his sensei. Gai took one of the bento boxes that Tenten had prepared for them with him and guided Neji away from his team mates.
Gai sat down against a tree near a lake. Neji was sat in front of him. His sensei took one of the rice balls and toss it to Neji, who caught it in his hands.
“Thank you” murmured the boy.
“Neji you know that you cannot fool me” Gai said not looking at him. Neji closed his eyes “Are you having troubles with your family again? With Hinata-chan maybe?”
“No” Neji opened his eyes to look at him “My relationship with my cousin is getting better. We agreed in spend some more time together to work on it…”
That was truth. After the chunnin exams and the attack on Konoha, Hinata had talked with him about their problem….
“Neji-niisan” Hinata looked at his cousin with sadness in her eyes. Both of them were in the Hyuuga manor’s main garden
“What is it, Hinata-sama?”
“Do you hate me?” The question hit him like cold water and the boy didn’t know what to do. Hinata was waiting for her reply.
“I…”
“I’m sorry if I did something to you and because of that you hate me. I assure you, it was not my intention” She was shuddering and trembling, yet looking at him in the eye. The reality was that it had taken her days to pluck up the courage to pop the question. She couldn’t go back now.
Neji closed his eyes.
“I don’t hate you. I apologise for my behavior towards you before. I was being selfish to blame you for everything, though I knew that it was not your fault…” Neji could not say anymore. He didn’t know how.
He felt delicate arms around him and opened his eyes to see that Hinata was hugging him, resting her head on his shoulder. He moved his hands and, not sure of he was doing, finally returned the gesture.
He smiled. His little sister was back.
Gai sighed. At least that was fine. But there was still something off.
Neji insisted that he was just tired. After all, the pass few days had been very difficult for everyone. But it had been exhausting for everyone else, too. Gai didn't believe him. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do too much right now.
Konoha was going through very hard times. The new Hokage had only been in charge for a very short time. Tsunade was moving sky, sea and earth to protect Konoha one way or another, and almost all jounin were on missions right now. He was going to have another soon. He didn’t wanted to leave his students alone at the moment, but he couldn’t back out of an important mission either.

The young Hyuuga used his break to lie down on the grass. Neji was watching the clouds in the middle of the training grounds. He had seen Shikamaru doing this many times before. It actually felt good.
His right had was on his chest, over the pendant under his cloths. His mind was trying to cross over the web of confusion in which he was trapped, but with little success.
Neji closed his eyes.
“Hinata, you have to find a scroll with the fire signature. Neji you have to find the one with the wind signature. Go!”
Hinata did the hand seals and activate the byakugan just like Neji. The little girl was sure her cousin was going to find the scroll before her but little could be done about it. She sighed and took off towards the streets of Konoha.
Neji was near her for the first ten minutes but after that he took off to the training grounds. A hide and seek game with the byakugan. That was how Neji referred to it. He always found the objects his mentor had hide before Hinata. As time progressed, the scrolls became more difficult for them to find. The objects actually had a chakra signature that they could see, but that signature was fixed to get less and less visible with the time. The more time you take to find it, the more difficult it was to locate.
He ran crossing the training grounds, jumping on the threes to extend his range of vision. Twenty five minutes had passed.
Neji jumped from the branches. He was losing time. He looked to his right and saw a chackra signature. The boy smiled and ran to get the scroll but before he could do it a kunai almost hit him.
He fell onto the floor and deactivated his byakugan.
Neji opened his eyes. A boy older than him was offering his hand to help him stand up. He took it.
“Sorry if I interrupt you” Neji said while using his hands to take the dust off his clothes. The boy did not answer him. The little boy saw the place. It looked like this was the older boy’s training area.
He was taking back his kunai when Neji noticed that he was holding the scroll he needed. “Excuse me but, I need that scroll”
The older boy extended his hand and passed it over Neji’s hair. The little boy blinked as the older one gave him the scroll, still playing with his hair.
Without a word the older boy walked away from him. Neji saw the scroll in his hands; it had the fire signature on it.
“Hinata has the one I suppose to find” he said to himself and took off to find his cousin. It was a deal between them. If they found the scroll the other was suppose to find, they would meet up in front of stand called Ichiraku and exchange scrolls. His mentor did not know of this deal and they were not going to tell him.
Neji arrived at the place. Hinata was already there. She smiled at him. Neji was thinking of his encounter with the older shinobi, wondering who he was.
Silver-white eyes looked the sky. Neji sat up. His right hand was still clutching the pendant under his clothes. He didn’t remember his encounter with that shinobi in the training areas very only thing he could remember precisely at the moment was that the shinobi had deep black eyes.
“Just like Sasuke’s…”

Sasuke countered Naruto’s punch and jumped out of range. He was excited. Not because he was training with his team mates but because the things were going his way. He wasn’t thinking of his encounter with his brother or about the battles weeks ago. He was thinking of Neji. To be more specific, of Neji under him, screaming his name.
The boy dodged Naruto’s kick. A grin could be see on his face. Sakura and Naruto felt a chill go down their spines. It was almost creepy see Sasuke grinning that way.
Kakashi, sitting on a large log a few meters away from them with his Icha Icha Paradise book, saw this too. Was Sasuke thinking in get revenge on his brother again? He couldn’t tell. The copy ninja was still worried about his pupil’s safety. Orochimaru’s cursed seal was not giving problems at the moment but he was not calm about the whole situation. He was also worried about Naruto. His control over the kyuubi was good now but he wasn’t sure that he was the right person to train the blonde boy right now. Naruto was in danger as well now that the Akatsuki wanted him.
Kakashi had to protect his pupils. Both of them. One from a very dangerous snake-sannin and the other against a whole organization of S-ranked criminals. If Sakura ended up in potential danger too, Kakashi was going lose what was left of his sanity.
“Sasuke-teme! Stop dodging my attacks and fight back!” Naruto yelled. He had agreed to be the one who attacked first, but Sasuke had not changed roles yet. Naruto need to practice his defense too.
“Be patient dobe, and stop screaming. If you want to change roles just tell me” Naruto felt his head boil and nodded “Then I’m going to attack you know”
And they stared to spar again. Sakura was doing some chakra control exercises that Kakashi had for her. If she was going to be Tsunade’s apprentice, she first needed more control over herself.
The copy ninja looked over his book to see Gai and his team getting near them. He blinked. Lee was attacking Neji, who was dodging the attacks but not fighting back. Tenten was teamed with Lee in what looked like a let’s-get-Neji-exercise.
Gai appear at Kakashi’s side, looking at his students with a confused face. Kakashi stood up, not letting go of his book.
“Something’s bothering you?” asked the copy ninja. Gai nodded.
“They are in an attack-defense exercise, but Neji is so distracted that we ended up here, as you can see”
“They are not chasing Neji?”
“Now they are” Gai blinked several times, not looking away from the three genin. Kakashi looked over his team. Naruto had stopped because Sasuke was not attacking him anymore. The blonde was trying to make Sasuke pay attention to him with no success.
The Uchiha smirked.
Sasuke jumped and Naruto followed him. He ran towards Team Gai and got in the middle of the chase. Naruto dodged Lee’s and Tenten’s attacks.
“I’m sorry Naruto-kun!” said both and stopped, then looked at where Neji was.
Sasuke was fighting Neji, and Hyuuga was fighting back.
Gai and Kakashi saw this and then look at each other as if asking the other what was going on. Neji had changed in to his fighting style stance.
Both of them stared to fight as if there was no one but them in the area. Sasuke was acting so calm and smirking constantly while Neji was fighting with a bitter expression on his face.
“Hum… sensei” Both Kakashi and Gai looked at their students.
“Maybe we should stop them” suggested Sakura. Tenten had a hand on her hip looking the fight with confusion.
“Neji is actually fighting” said Lee “I think that he has not done that all morning”
“Yes! Sasuke has that creepy smirk of his again! I really want to punch him right now and I don’t even know why!” Naruto stroked his head in aggravation.
Sasuke dodged Neji’s palm and let himself fall to trick other boy. When Neji was about to send another attack, he used his hand to support his body and kicked Neji in the stomach.
Neji jumped back and tried to regain his breath. Sasuke was running around him using Lee’s moves. Neji clenched his teeth.
“Byakugan!” He located Sasuke and attacked him, sending him flying. Sasuke fell onto the ground but was on his feet again in no time.
Both of them ran to attack the other. Sasuke opened his eyes, revealing his sharingan and Neji stopped. Sasuke didn’t and by the end of the chase he was on top of Neji with a firm grip on the boy’s writs.
“A little distracted there, Hyuuga?”
“Get off, Uchiha” Sasuke laughed softly at Neji’s frustrated face. He saw the pendant’s black string in Neji’s neck and his eyes shone. Neji moved his hands. "Get. Off”
Sasuke let go of him and, without his consent, helped him to stand up. Neji took Sasuke’s hand away from his arm and walked over the others. The Uchiha was close behind him.
Neji looked at the specatators and blinked, noticing that in the middle of the exercise he had drove them into Team Seven’s training ground. In other words, he provoked his not-so-nicely encounter with them.
“I’m sorry for the interruption” he said to Kakashi, who just nodded and smiled behind his mask. The smile was fake of course, since he was concerned about his dark haired pupil’s behavior.
“We should get back to the exercise” Gai spoke as if nothing had happened “Let’s change rolls. Lee you are the one defending this time. Neji and Tenten are on the offensive. Go!”
“Yes, Gai-sensei!” said the three of them and ran back to their activities.
While running, Neji could feel Sasuke’s piercing eyes on his back. The boy shook his head, trying to get rid of the feeling, but it was no use.
Sasuke put his hands in his pockets, watching the Hyuuga with obsessed eyes. He decided he was going to have fun tonight.

The sun was hiding behind the horizon. The sky was dyed with fire-alike colors while the wind played with his long hair. Neji looked at the sky with bitter eyes and a sad expression, walking in a slow pace behind Sasuke inside the Uchiha estates.
If the murderous silence of the place could freeze every single feeling in him, then how could Sasuke live there? He couldn’t tell.
The lonely house that belong to the last Uchiha looked even darker now and he had just been there that morning. Sasuke opened the door and gestured for Neji to come inside first. The boy blinked slowly, looking the entrance with death eyes. He walked inside with his eyes closed.
Sasuke had a grin of satisfaction as he closed the door.
Neji was sitting against the wall, not looking at anything in particular while Sasuke was changing his cloths. Neji had removed the bandages from his limbs. He saw over his shoulder that Sasuke was wearing a dark blue robe and was sitting on the futon, looking at him.
“Come here Hyuuga or I’ll drag you” Neji bit his lip. He didn’t understand why Sasuke’s sharingan could- even if he did not wanted to admit it -scare him. He was grateful that he was not using it right now.
Neji crawled near him but stayed off the futon. He could hear that Sasuke has just let out a chuckle. Neji raised his eyes.
“Take off you clothes Neji” he said softly. But Neji did not move. Sasuke crawled over him and made him lay down on the futon. He took his hitai-ate off first and then his headband. Leaving the accessories aside he stared to kiss his silver-eyed angel.
Neji felt hands caressing his hair, removed his hair tie to make it fall free all over the mattress. He wasn’t responding to Sasuke’s kiss or moving in any other way.
Sasuke was touching him all over, getting rid of his jacket, shorts and boxers. He just left the pendant. Neji felt so defenseless and ashamed. He suppress a cry when Sasuke’s hand closed over his groin. He pushed Sasuke but the other boy did not move. He let go of him but also got a firm grip on Neji’s scalp and sat up. Neji moved too, due to the force of the grip.
Neji was on his elbows and knees. Sasuke smirked and opened his robe, reveling his erection. He guided the boy over to it and rubbed the member against Neji’s face.
“Open you mouth Neji. Do it”
Neji shook his head and pressed his palms against the mattresses to move, but Sasuke kicked him and made him fall. Neji’s gasp of surprise turn against him when Sasuke took the opportunity to shove his erection in Neji's mouth.
Neji’s trembling knees made him collapse into the mattresses. The hot organ down his throat was making him gag and the grip on his scalp was hurting him, making him move to Sasuke’s pleasure.
The Uchiha let got a moan before taking his erection out of Neji’s mouth. The brunette gasped for air as Sasuke moved behind him, taking something from the desk. Neji saw over his shoulder that Sasuke was sitting besides him, rubbing some kind of lotion in his hand. He moved to get one hand on the back of Neji’s neck and the other traced the boy’s entrance.
Sasuke moved on top of Neji, kissing his neck as he inserted two fingers into the brunette. Neji clutched the mattresses hard and gritted his teeth. A third finger was added, and the boy bit the matress, while his whole body was clenching up miserably under Sasuke’s
The dark haired boy took his fingers out and forced himself in his unwilling lover. Sasuke was hitting a spot that drove Neji to feel some pleasure, but the pain was still there and the web of bitter feelings too.
Sasuke’s right hand encircled Neji’s member again, stroking it with the same pace of this thrusts. Neji’s eyes opened wide.
“Come on Neji. Scream my name”
Neji shook his head, biting the mattress even harder to prevent himself from speak. But Sasuke’s free hand shove the cloth out of his mouth just as the dark haired boy's body to hit that spot again.
“Sas!—” Neji bit his lip and cursed himself for almost crying out, but Sasuke’s ears had caught the cut word and he smiled in satisfaction as his climax reach him. He came inside of Neji and the brunette came in his hand almost at the same time.
He collapsed on top of the Hyuuga and kissed him lightly, then rolled over. Neji moved to give his back to the other boy and Sasuke wrapped his arm around Neji’s waist, smiling to himself while sleep took over.
Neji felt hot tears fall from his eyes. He clutched the Uchiha pendant, hating himself for what had just happened.
“Why has to be this way?...” he whispered.
But nobody gave him an answer.
To be continue…
I like Hinata. She’s my favorite female character in the series and I think Neji and she have a nice relationship. I’ll explore more of it in the future. This is just the second chapter after all.
For those who have already guessed the identity of the not-so-mystery-shinobi in Neji’s flash back, congratulations! That relationship will be explored too. I have evil cough I mean interesting plans for the subject.
Observations are welcome, for questions and comments I’m at your service and thanks for taking the time to read my story.
