Disclaimer- Do I have too? Fine! pouts

I own nothing of Standoff or Starbucks, although writing this has given me the biggest craving for a Frappucino (SP?).

Thanks for all the Reviews, Guys! This is for all who reviewed, oh and twinmuse, I unfortunately wasn’t able to make and Smores, but when I do, you’ll be the first to get one. :)

P.S.- if you recieved another chapter earlier today, please delete it. I decited it was not good to mix that chapters dark mood with this storys cheery one. I haven't gotten the whole 'update' thing down, and I kinda messen up. XP!

“So what’s the story on this one? Crazy woman get pissed because the place ran out of espressos?” Emily guessed in a clearly aggravated tone.

“I thought it was your job to figure that out?” Frank said. “I’m here just in case the Crazy woman decides to shoot civilians; I don’t do that crazy negotiating stuff.”

“Come on guys, I want to be here just as much as you do. Let’s get this over with so I can get back to the office and take a nap.” Matt snapped as he handed Emily her ear piece and put on his own. “Lea, can you put me through?”

Already there” Lea’s voice spoke through the head set.

Matt glanced at Emily. "You still mad at me taking the coffee?" he asked.

Emily was silent for a moment, when she let out a breath and said, "No. I'm just fustrated because I feel like today is a very important day, but i really have no clue what it is." She turned to Matt, as though waiting for an answer. "Well?" she asked.

"Well what?"

"Well, what's today!? You obviously know, and refuse to tell me" Emily huffed.

Matt gave a goofy grin and shook his head. "I really can't believe you forgot. Tell you what. You help me wrap this up within three hours, and I will tell you tonight." he bargained.

"Deal" Emily agreed.

Three and a half hours later, seven free hostages ran up to their families, and a round of hugs and tears were exchanged before Emily approached Matt.

"Okay. A deal's a deal. Will you please tell me what is so important that it has made you smirk non stop all day?" Emily demanded.

"You're right. Deal's a deal, and I will tell you when we arrive at the resturant. I have to get back to the office to finish up some paper work, so go home and shower and get ready and meet me at the office by six." Matt orderd.

"But you said that-"

"I know what I said, and there's been a change of plans. Now go home!" Matt pushed her into the Ford and waved her off.

"God I hate it when he does that!" Emily exclaimed. She drove home, which took her half an hour, got the mail, fed her cat, and slipped out of her jeans and top and exchanged the both of them for something a little more casual.

When she decited on her black fitting pants and maroon low cut top, she examend herself in the mirror, looking for any flaws she didn't spot before. while Emily was doing this, her heart raced just a little at the thought of her and Matt finally geting a night to themselves.

Slipping on her black flats, she grabbed the keys, her purse and headed out the door.

When the gray office building came into view, she picked up her cell and scrolled down the address list until she came upon "Matt". She pushed the talk button, adn listen to the dial tone until he picked up.

"Hey, could you come up real quick? Cheryl wanted to talk to the both of us in private." Matt quickly said into his cell, then hung up.

Emily rolled her eyes, got out of the truck, and slammed her door shut. Typical of Cheryl to come up with something at the last minute.

"You look nice" Lea exclaimed as Emily walked out of the elevator. "Whrere were you headed tonight?"

"Oh, no where, Lea. I just decited to dress up nice for once" Emily said tiredly. She didn't even put any sarcasm into her words.

"Well you look nice. Make sure Matt doesn't see you while he's working" Lea said and rushed off. Emily thought it was a trick of the light, but she thought she saw Lea wink at her. Also, as Emily turned the corner where her office was, she saw that every light was turned off. "What the heck is wrong with everyone-" Emily began, but never finished.

All the lights were clicked on as every co-worker she worked with jumped out of some hiding place and screamed "SURPRISE!"

Emily herself screamed, but not as loud as them. As she looked around the room, she saw Frank and Duff licking the frosting off of a giant white cake that read "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMILY!" Cheryl was pouring glasses of sparkling water for every one. and Lea and her fellow computer nerds clicked on a string of multi- colored lights. The room was filled to the top with balloons, ribbons, and smiling faces.

Emily started to laugh, hard. "Oh, god. I can't believe I forgot own friggin' birthday!" She was in hystarics.

"Well, do you think we would let you forget?" Emily turned around and was face to face with a rather giddy, and hansome, Matt.

Emily was taken aback, for she had never seen him look quite this nice. Altthough he was donned in the jeans he wore that day, they looked rather casual with the jet black turtle neck sweater and kakhi blazor. But what took her by suprise was the single red rose he was holding in his hand.

He walked over to her, gave her the rose, planted a small kiss on her cheek, an whisperd,"Happy Birthday" in her ear. Emily smiled as tears came to her eyes, and she placed her arms around his neck. "Thank you for remembering" she replied.

"HEY! Come on guys! I just cut the cake. I don't want to barf all over it!" Frank interrupted them.

After two pieces of cake (Frank's wife insisted she had another), Matt presented her with a gold coverd package, topped with a red bow.

"Matt, this was really great. You didn't have to-"

"Yes I did. You would have killed me otherwise." Matt said as Emily unwrapped the present. "The manager of Starbucks was thankful we fixed the situatin today."

Emily grinned widely as she unwrapped Starbucks House Blend, her favorite type of coffee from there. "I guess you don't owe me anymore."

"That's a relief" Matt said, as Emily hugged him once more. He kissed the top of her head.

"I guess this means I can't put anything in your drink tonight" Emily sighed.

"WHAT?!"

"Nothing!" Emily said quickly as she smiled to herself.

Again, sorry for the mess up. I'm really happy with this ending instead of that other one.

Constructive criticism welcome. My fireplace is welcome for the flames (it's supposed to be cold tonight)
