Okay - I know that I havent updated The Littlest Fairy in, like... FOREVER, and I apologise. Unfortunately, I don't really have an excuse - I have had four one-shots (this being the first) just sitting on my computer, for a few months, just waiting for me to post them. So - sorry! AND, if I get enough reviews, I might post the next sequel thing.

Hint hint.

The quote ‘Home is where the heart is’ runs through my mind again as I see his tall figure standing in the kitchen doorway. I look at him incredulously, completely forgetting about the small smear of chocolate on my cheek and wearing my little pyjamas, and stare at him with wide, shocked eyes. I gently place little Martha into her little booster chair, feeling numb and unsure. She gurgles happily, and Rachel and Janine are giggling softly, but I barely hear them as I stare at the tall, black haired man in the doorway.

I stare at him for a moment, my heart swelling with happiness and longing. Before I know what’s happened, my feet are moving of their own accord, and we meet in the middle of the kitchen. I’m hesitant – after the fight I don’t know where I stand to him.

He looks as handsome as always, a good head taller than me, so that I have to look up at him. His elegant, yet casual, dark hair is falling into his eyes, making me want to reach up and brush away the silky strands. His eyes are the dark shade of grey that I love, and his lips are curved up into a tiny, hesitant smile.

I’m inches away from him, but neither of us speaks. My heart is thumping in my chest loudly, and my hands feel cold and clammy. And then, slowly and uncertainly, he pulls me into a tight hug. All of the emotions of missing him that I’ve felt are drifting away slowly as he holds me in his arms. My feet are just scraping the floor, my arms tightly wound around his neck, and he tightens his grip around my waist.

I’m crying, for my parents, for Sirius, for what we had and might never have again. The salty tears silently stream down my cheeks, and Sirius gently brushes them away with his thumb.

‘I love you,’ he says.

And I’m home again.

We hold each other and I don’t know for how long. We just stand there, in the middle of the homey little kitchen, in one another’s embrace. I’ve never felt more safe or secure in my life, and my heart is thumping loudly in my chest. He turns his face slightly, and I can feel his hot breath against my lips. Just as our lips are about to meet…

Giggle.

Sirius and I stare at one another for a moment, and then spring apart. He looks amused, but my cheeks are a light pink. Rachel, Janine, Joanna and Maria have innocent smiles on their faces, and Martha is gurgling softly. Joanna makes her way forward out of the line they had, and smiles up at Sirius, fluttering her eyelashes.

‘Hi,’ she says, a sweet look planted on her face. I look at her incredulously, but she doesn’t take her eyes off of Sirius. ‘I’m Joanna, but you can call me “Jo”.’

‘Nice to meet you, Jo,’ Sirius says pleasantly, taking my hand in his inconspicuously.

‘I’m almost ten,’ she says, eyes fluttering excessively.

‘Err… really?’

‘Uh huh,’ she says. ‘What’s your name?’

‘Ah, Sirius Black,’ he says, absentmindedly fiddling with my fingers. ‘Do you girls mind if Faye and I have a moment?’

Joanna’s eyes narrow, but she grudgingly leads her sisters out of the room, leaving only baby Martha behind. Before Sirius can say anything, Martha starts to fuss, so I send him an apologetic glance and lift her up into my arms.

‘So,’ I say awkwardly, rocking Martha gently. ‘How… have you been?’

‘Good,’ he responds. ‘And yourself?’

‘All right.’

He runs a hand through his hair agitatedly, and gives a weak smile. ‘Okay, so I lied.’

‘When?’ I say, wincing slightly as Martha squeezes the life out of my left hand pinky.

‘Well… Just then, and also before we… you know…’ He hesitates. ‘Broke up.’

‘Oh?’ I ask, because I really don’t know what else to say.

‘Yeah. Look – I’m not good. I miss you. I didn’t mean –’

‘Really?’ I say dryly. ‘Because I thought your meaning was pretty clear when you said – what was it? Oh, that’s right – “We’re through, Summers. I can’t take this anymore” and spent the rest of the school year snogging random girls –’

‘I don’t understand you!’ he snaps. ‘One minute you’re hugging me, and the next you’re accusing me?’ His voice softens. ‘Look, Faye – little fairy – I’m sorry.’

‘Sirius…’ I protest.

‘No, just listen for a sec… I was an idiot, okay? I was a stupid, blind, jealous idiot, and… I really do love you.’

‘You do?’ My heart melts.

‘Really,’ he confirms. ‘I haven’t been able to take my mind off of you, the whole summer, wondering if you and Walker…’

‘We didn’t,’ I cut in.

He looks relieved, but in a sudden burst of honesty, I start again, blurting out, ‘Okay, we did. Sort of.’

His eyes fall. ‘Oh – right. Well. I’ll be going, then, I’m… sorry to have wasted your ti–’

‘No, no, no,’ I correct him quickly, ‘it’s nothing like that. I kissed him –’

His eyes burst back into life, flaming angrily and narrowing.

‘Calm down, Sirius. I kissed him, and he made me realise that, well… he’s more like a brother to me, than anything. I was just lonely, I suppose, and it’s totally platonic between us.’

Sirius breaks into a smile. ‘Good man, that Walker.’

I laugh, setting a content Martha back into her chair.

‘So – does that mean I’m forgiven?’

‘If you’re willing to forgive me.’

He pulls me into a tight hug. ‘There’s nothing to forgive, little fairy.’ And this time, when he kisses me, there are no giggling little girls to interrupt us. It’s slow and sweet, and sends tingles through my body. I run a hand through his silky hair, and he pulls me closer to him. We draw back slightly, and when he speaks I can feel his breath against my lips.

‘Have I told you that I love you?’ he murmurs.

I laugh softly. ‘Yes – but you can tell me again, if you like.’

He chuckles. ‘I love you.’

‘That’s good. Because I love you, too.’

‘So – what now?’ he questions me, gently kissing me again.

‘Well,’ I say thoughtfully. ‘My brother and his wife have just had their first baby, whom I haven’t even met yet. We could visit them – I want you to meet them.’

‘That sounds good,’ he acknowledges, planting another kiss on my lips.

‘And then…’ I hesitate. ‘And then, maybe, we could go to the Caribbean…’

He smiles. ‘That sounds good, too. Just the sand, the sun, the water, you and me.’

I smile. ‘That sounds perfect.’

‘I love you, Miss Summers,’ he comments again.

‘Another of your little endearments for me, Sirius?’

‘Why, of course. “Summers” when I’m upset at you – of course, only on the rarest of occasions – “Faye” when I’m content, and “little fairy” normally.’

‘And when “Miss Summers”?’

‘Only when I’m perfectly and utterly elated.’ He bends down and kisses me. ‘Miss Summers.’

Okay - I know it was really short, but sorry! I was just wondering, myself, what happened after that scene in the Walkers' kitchen, so I simply HAD to write it.

Review, and I'll post the next sequel!
