He knows that he is being a dead weight, but as his leg twitches in pain, he cannot find it in him to care. The bombs are exploding to the east, screams are echoing to the west, and damnit all, he just wanted to seek shelter now and wait until the world ended.

Vash has another idea, though, one that is futile and rather stupid.

But if he wants to carry his poor brother around on his back, then more power to him.

"Vash, shelter would be nice right about now. The spiders will kill themselves off soon, we can wait for a little while and then it'll all be fine."

"No, we're getting to this town, and then we're going to--"

He breaks off and stops walking, his shoulders begin to shake and no sound is heard to their deafened ears.

The city is still standing, there are people flooding in the gates. It is another days walk, but it is still there.

"Look, Knives. Medical treatment."

He grimaces at the thought of letting a spider touch him again, but as he lets his head fall back as he is placed on the ground, he figures that he won't mind it so much if Vash started being happy again.

He wants his brother to be happy. Just like he wants his leg to stop hurting, and just like he wants the spiders to kill themselves so that he can relax in paradise, just like his dream that was dreamt so many centuries ago.
