I can’t offer an appropriate apology for not updating. What I can offer, though, is an explanation you may view in my profile.

This is for the lovely Whiterabbit Tale, be sure to check out her awesome fanfiction! This is my first AK drabble; so don’t be surprised if I totally bastardize the pairing with fluff. I want to write something other than deep, melodramatic things for once.

Yes, I know putting a conversation into a paragraph is a no-no, but I was never into the “writing rules” anyway . So please, don’t point it out in your review. Enjoy.

OoOo

“Aoshi?”

Her voice was soft, an innocent lilt draping the words. Aoshi looked down silently, noting her radiant smile and fresh yellow kimono; her favorite summer attire. “Yes?” The man replied quietly, a breeze sweeping over his ebony bangs and white yukata. “I’ve been thinking,” The girl mused, slender hands folding themselves behind her back. Her geta clapped beside his, kicking away fallen petals upon the stone laden ground.

Kaoru remained silent, cornflower eyes fixated downwards. “I’ve been thinking, do you like summer?” She blurted at last, raising her face to stare inquiringly at him. Aoshi raised an eyebrow, pale eyelids closing. “Yes.” He answered curtly, folding his hands inside his yukata. “Oh.” Kaoru murmured, falling mute once more. “Do you like winter?” She smiled, sunlight filtering through the blossom-laden canopy. “Yes,” said Aoshi again, lips stilling as he resumed walking slowly. “I see,” Kaoru replied.

Kaoru paused, a lovely hand clasping over her heart.

“Aoshi?”

“Yes?”

Kaoru blushed.

“Nothing.”

Aoshi nodded, waiting as she began walking again. Another perfumed breeze tickled over the two, rustling more cherry blossoms from their perches. Birds gabbled excitedly from above, swooping over the candy-blue horizon. Their sandals continued to clip-clap against the pavement, clothing flapping against the gentle wind. Kaoru’s lips pressed into a line, an unusual gleam splitting across her eye. “Do…you like the color purple?”

“Yes.”

“Green?”

“Yes.”

“..Blue?”

“Yes.”

“..Okay.”

Aoshi opened his eyes too look down, unbeknownst as he looked at her. She was adorable, the way her brows were furrowed, her cheeks alight in color, lips pushed together. Her long hair whipped against her poised back, falling over glittering eyes playfully. She was a mystery to him, so unlike Misao and the other girls he knew. At times so determined and confident, others so fickle and hesitant. Gentle and serene, stubborn and brash…just Kaoru.

Aoshi closed his eyes and looked away.

Kaoru gazed at him with a smile. She loved the way his hair rippled as the air passed by it. The way his face would get that thoughtful look, his aquamarine eyes become calculating. But he wasn’t always like that. Sometimes she would catch his face with an amused sort of expression, his eyes loose that thinking gleam. He spoke when he saw it fit or important, but other times he spoke because he wanted to. Sometimes he would speak to her softly, like he was now..

Kaoru looked away, grinning sheepishly.

“….Aoshi?”

“Yes?”

“Do you love me?”

A wry smile, a pretty blush.

“Yes.”

OoOo
