He watches the darkness settle within the room without moving. There is never anything in the room; he knows if he doesn’t chill out soon he’s going to give himself a heart attack. He wonders if he learned this from his childhood or if he’s just naturally a bundle of worry.

What he doesn’t know is that it is genetic.

He can’t shake the idea that he could have done better.

What he doesn’t know is everyone he meets worries the same thing about themselves.

The only difference being that their worry doesn’t involve the actual darkness swallowing them whole.
