Chapter 1

The cold steel of the Bo staff hit Robin across the chest. He flew backwards and across the cement. He sat up. Slade stood over him, his Bo staff facing towards him. "Come now, Robin. You and your little friends can do better than that." His voice was filled with mockery. Robin gritted his teeth, clenching his fists. He charged again, lashing out at Slade. Slade blocked him with ease, kicking Robin in the stomach. He flew backwards once more.

Starfire turned to him "Robin!" she screamed. She turned back to Slade, sending a shower of star bolts down upon him. Slade dodged, throwing a disk at her. It exploded a few feet away from her and she dropped to the floor. It was about nine in Gotham City and Slade had been spotted at one of the old machinery storage units. He stood on the roof of the two story building, the Titans facing them. Cyborg fired his cannon and Raven threw some old crates at him.

Slade leapt over the crates, sending a foot down on to her. She held her hand up above her face, a black barrier forming around her. Slade jumped off the barrier, bringing both feet down on Cyborg. Beast Boy turned into a rhino, charging at him. He hit Slade square in the back, sending him into some crates. Robin charged forward, his staff making a slight cracking noise as it hit Slade's jaw. Slade stumbled backward. Robin's eyes narrowed, his teeth clenched tightly.

"Enough games." He snarled "What are you planning?" Slade stood up, chuckling. "Stupid boy…" he murmured. "What I plan is merely an intention…One I plan to make a reality." He started laughing.

Robin arched an eyebrow "What's so funny?" Slade turned his head slowly. Even though he couldn't see it, Robin could feel that Slade was smiling under his mask "To put it simply…I want you to die…" The Titans froze in shock of Slade's words. Slade pulled out what he had taken from the storage unit two stories below him. It was particle blaster that had an appearance similar to a large hand gun. "Good-bye Robin…" he said quietly and pulled the trigger.

A large red and blue blast shot from it. Robin remained frozen as the beam hit him square in the chest close to his head. He flew backwards off the building and disappeared. Starfire was the first to react.

"Robin!" she screamed flying in the direction he had been shot. Slade laughed to himself, disappearing. The Titans took no notice to him. The Titans ran to the other side of the building. Starfire gasped, stopping dead in her tracks. Cyborg and Beast Boy followed "What is it Star?" He stopped dead in his tracks, realizing that he had answered his own question. Below them was a highway, the red and white lights of cars streaking by. All four Titans stared in horror. "

Robin!" Star screamed once more, flying down towards it. The street thankfully showed no body. Star landed on the street above it, looking around. Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy landed next to her. "He flew in this direction didn't he?" Beast Boy asked "So where'd he go?" Cyborg looked to the scanner in his arm, shaking his head. "His locater's not responding. It must have been damaged when he landed." Raven opened her eyes, shaking her head "And I can't access him with my thoughts."

Beast Boy's eyes suddenly filled with panic "Dude! What if Robin's…dead?" Starfire shook her head furiously "No! I refuse to believe that!" Cyborg held up his hands, attempting to calm her "Calm down, Star. We'll find him." Raven sighed, deep in her thoughts "People don't just disappear. Where could he have possibly gone?" The Titans remained silent for a long time. Finally, Beast Boy's eyes met with a puddle of crimson on the pavement close to the edge. "Hey what's that?" The Titans turned to it "Someone probably spilled a red drink or something." Raven said almost instantly. Cyborg leaned over it "I don't think so…" he held up his scanner to it. He remained silent for a long time. Starfire clasped her hands together, holding them to her chin. "Cyborg…?" Cyborg turned, his face filled with horror "This is blood Star. Robin's blood." Starfire fell silent; looking to the sky in hopes it would give her answers. "Robin…where are you?"
