Max stared forlornly at the colorful, gaudy banner hanging from the ceiling. "HAPPY HOLIDAYS!" it said...

Happy Holidays...

When was the last time she had a happy holiday? Practically never...

Max heard a groan beside her. Glancing to her left, she saw Nudge, unconscious, hurt, and Max couldn't do anything to help...

On the other side, Max could see Angel, her poor baby, also senseless... Farther on, there were Fang, Iggy, and the Gasman...

They were all so still! So still...

Who knew if they were only knocked out? What if they were... dead?...

Max would never be able to live without them...

Blinking back tears, she once again looked out at the banner, out through the bars of her cage, her dog crate...

Happy Holidays...

No happy holidays for you, Max, cackled the Voice...
