August 1778

Felicity broke away from the boy that she was kissing to look at him again. He stared at her with his large brown eyes that just seemed to say, "What are you doing?" She smiled and pushed her lips back onto his.

The short demure kisses only lasted a few minutes before she felt her partner's tongue pushing against her lips, begging her to open up. She slowly parted her lips, and the boy slowly pushed his way in, taking his time to survey his new territory of teeth and gums. His tongue finally found its way to hers; touching tips and placing new pressure on the center of her tongue. Felicity giggled with the new sensations happening in her mouth, and she pressed harder against the boy's lips to see what else he would bring.

To her dismay, he broke away from her lips and started a trail of kisses up to her ear, and traced the tip of it with his tongue. A shiver shot down Felicity's spine. He seemed to know exactly where she was sensitive. He now took his trail of kisses down the side of her neck. She arched her neck out towards him and took his brown hair into her fingers. He slide his tongue down towards her developing bosom, but instead of following through, he broke the contact, and returned to her mouth.

Felicity unlaced some of the top ties of his shirt, and started to move her hands over his chest, but quickly he grabbed her hands and whispered, "This is for you, not for me." Her partner started reaching for her bosom, but before he got there, Felicity took a glimpse down. "Is there something wrong with your pants?" Her partner laughed and pushed his mouth back up against hers.

Then Felicity woke up. She felt sticky from a thin layer of sweat that must have formed from her vivid dream. She had never had a dream like that before. She was distressed because she couldn't figure out who the boy in the dream was with her. She recognized the face, but couldn't put a name to it. She sat up in her bed and wiped some of the sweat from her brow. She glanced over at the bed next to hers, Nan's bed. Her ten year old sister was sitting up in her bed, looking at Felicity with an inquisitive look. "Felicity?" she asked.

"Yes, Nan?" Felicity answered.

"You're really going to miss Ben when he leaves for the army, aren't you?"

"Why would you ever say that?"

"You were just repeating his name over and over in your sleep. You were kind of moaning it, like you thought that he was going to get hurt."

Felicity thanked God for the darkness of the bedchamber as she felt her cheeks redden.

"Yes, I will miss Ben. He's been like an older brother to us all. Now go back to sleep Nan."

"Goodnight, Felicity!"

"Goodnight, Nan."

Felicity snuggled back down on her bed and pulled her sheets up tight to her chin. Was it really Ben that she had just dreamed about? Nan was right; she was just going to miss him. He had been her older brother figure ever since he came to live with the Merrimans.

So why was she dreaming about him?
