Need for help

Chapter 1 The little girl

It was 9 pm when Dr. Temperance Brennan finally left the Jeffersonian. She had been working on a very difficult case for a week, but they finally found out who killed the little boy, whose remains were found under a bridge just out of DC.

Brennan drove to a Chinese restaurant to get some food. When she stepped out of the car she suddenly got the feeling that someone was looking at her. She looked around, noticing a girl from about 10 years old was staring at her, from across the road. She was sitting on the ground in de dark, with her back leaning against a tree. The girl looked scared.

Brennan shut the door and walked across the road.

“Hey there, are you all right?” She asked the girl. No answer. “My name is Temperance.” She continued. Again the girl didn’t say anything.

Then Brennan noticed a big bruise on the girl’s forehead. God, what happened to this girl, she’s so scared Brennan thought. Seeing a young girl so sad and scared, broke here heart.

“Please talk to me.” Brennan said “What’s your name?”

Still no answer.

Brennan toke the hand of the girl, which was shaking a little. “Please, let me help you.” She continued. “I won’t hurt you, you can trust me…. I promise”

The girl looked at Brennan and slowly the shaking of her hand stopped.

That’s a good sign Brennan thought.

“Please go with me, I’ll give you some food and you can sleep a little. You can’t stay here all night.”

The girl finally nodded.

“What’s your name?” Brennan asked again.

“Jessica” The girl whispered.

“That’s a beautiful name.” Brennan said while she helped Jessica into the car.

During the ride to her apartment, Brennan tried to talk with Jessica, but Jessica remained silent.

At Brennan’s apartment she gave Jessica some food, which she slowly started to eat. In the clear light, Brennan saw how many bruises Jessica had. How could somebody hurt such a beautiful girl so much.

Jessica finished the soup and bread Brennan gave here and she looked a little stronger already.

“Shall I tell you a story?” Brennan asked. Jessica nodded.

Brennan remembered one story her father told her when she was really young, and she started telling.

During the story Jessica came closer and closer to Brennan. And when Brennan finished Jessica was sleeping with her head in Brennan’s lap.

Brennan Looked at Jessica and sighed. She had beautiful long brown hair and a lot of freckles, she looked so innocent and vulnerable. She still couldn’t believe that somebody hurt that little girl and frightened her so much.

Next morning Brennan was still sitting on the couch Jessica still asleep. She must have been exhausted. Brennan thought. She took a pillow, sliding it gently under Jessica’s head. She walked to her phone and dialed the number of her partner and good friend Agent Seeley Booth.

“Booth” She heard at the other side.

“Hey, Booth, It’s me.” Brennan said.

“Bones? Why are you calling me so early?”

“I’m sorry,” Brennan said, realizing it was only 6 o’clock.

“What did you call for?”

“I can’t come to the lab today, Booth”

“What? Are you sick or something?”

Booth didn’t understand, Bones would never miss a day at work.

“No, I’m fine.” Brennan answered.

“So, why aren’t you coming to work, what’s the matter, you love your work.”

“Yes, I do, but I just can’t come today.”

Jessica woke up, and she apparently didn’t remember where se was and she started crying.

“Listen Booth” Brennan said. “I have to go.”

“Everything is fine, so don’t worry. I’ll explain to later.”

“But Bones…”

“See you.”

And bones hang up quickly going to Jessica.

“It’s okay, honey, don’t be scared.” She said, putting Jessica on her lap and she brushed Jessica’s tears of her cheeks.

“You’re save here, nobody is going to hurt you.”

Jessica stopped crying. Brennan sighed. Poor little girl, what happened to her?

“Shall I make you some breakfast?” Jessica nodded.

She gave Jessica some papers a pencil, and Jessica started drawing, while Brennan went to the kitchen to make some toast.

Brennan returned with the breakfast, she looked at Jessica’s drawing. Her stomach turned upside down and tears burned inside her eyes. On the paper was a boy and a girl and a big man that looked very scary, the man was holding something that looked like a knife and the boy, was all red. Brennan assumed that had to be blood. The girl had brown hair, brown eyes and freckles, just like Jessica.

Brennan didn’t know what to say. Jessica’s drawing was really good for a ten-year-old, Brennan admitted, but she was shocked.

She putted the toast in front of Jessica and Jessica immediately started to eat. Brennan sat down on the chair next to her and looked at the drawing again.

“What did you draw?” She asked

Jessica didn’t answer.

“Is that you?” she asked, looking at the little girl on the drawing, hoping it was nothing more than just a drawing.

Jessica nodded.

“Who is that?” Brennan continued pointing to the bleeding boy

“Matt” Jessica said, almost whispering.

“Matt?”

“Brother. Mommy told me to take care of him.”

“Where is he?”

Tears appeared in Jessica’s eyes. She wasn’t able to answer.

So, shall I continue?? Please RR
