miss fortune

It was the opportune moment. (the one you've been waiting for)

It's him and her and they're alone, because Sora's sleeping on the beach and he knows she's going to wake him up but he needs this chance to say things and he needs this time to tell her and he needs this moment so bad it hurts and he's so glad he got it (even though he thought he never would).

It was the opportune moment. (the chance of a lifetime)

It's him and her and they're alone and she's looking at him with those big blue eyes like she's got somewhere to go and he's looking down at her like he's got something to say, and they're both looking at each other and he's trying to form the right words to say, but nothing sounds right and she's still looking at him and he's still looking at her and crap, the log is really heavy.

It was the opportune moment. (so take it, stupid)

It's him and it's her and they're alone and she's going to walk away and she's walking away and he's still looking for those perfect words and he's needs this moment, so he grabs her wrist and the words, those perfect words for that perfect girl, are finally starting to come together and she's looking at him with those big blue eyes and he knows she's got somewhere to be, but he has something to say and he has to say it now, now, now.

It was the opportune moment. (and it's oh-so divine)

He's got it all figured out and she's looking at him like he's got it all messed up and he knows what to say and he opens his mouth and as her name comes out, blue eyes flicker towards the dozing boy on the beach and the words slide off his tongue, slip through his fingers, and shatter on the ground like crystalline tears, because in that instant, he realizes she loves Sora more than him.

It was the opportune moment. (the one passing you by)

It's him and it's her and she's going, going, gone and he's standing there, staring, with a log under his arm and a sigh in his throat, because it was bound to happen, it was going to happen, it needed to happen. So he shifts the log and kicks the sand and walks over to the no-longer dozing boy and the perfect girl and makes a joke and they laugh and he teases her and it's the way it's always been.

It was the opportune moment. (the one that got away)

The darkness comes and pretty keyblades won't save her and it's him and the darkness and the once-perfect girl and the witch and the enemy and it's all tumbling down around him, but at least it's him and it's her and she doesn't realize just how much he'd give up for her. They're never alone, but he's got her and Sora doesn't and those pretty blue eyes aren't looking at either of them, and maybe that's better then them looking at all.

It was the opportune moment. (it's going, going, gone)

It's him and it's her and there's no dozing boy, just a monster and a body and the maybe perfect ending and the almost perfect words and the so very perfect girl are dancing in front him, and maybe it's all going to kill him in the end, but he doesn't quite care enough to concern himself with things like life and death.

He concerns himself with her and her blue eyes and those not-so perfect words that are tumbling out of his mouth even though she can't hear him.

"I know you don't care and that you probably wish I were Sora and I know this is all kind of borderline pointless, but I'm doing a lot of things for you and I don't want it all to go down the drain, so please, please, please, open your eyes and smile or groan or anything and let me know I'm not going to keep talking to a lifeless body until I go insane."

Nothing happens, not that he expects anything to.

But he can play pretend for just a while longer.

It was the opportune moment. (or maybe it wasn't)
