Missing scene from “Hydro”

Author’s Note: Since I’m a hopeless Chlollie shipper, this was what I would have liked to have seen in “Hydro.” Chlollie would be SO much hotter than Lollie.

Chloe glared at the pile of clothes beside her feet and then gave it a sour look. She had spent a good chunk of money on those clothes! Her coat alone had cost over $100! She gave another sigh before kicking the clothes into the corner of the room. She would think about that tomorrow. Maybe I can get the coat dry-cleaned, she thought morosely as she made her way into the kitchen of Lois’ apartment.

Lois was currently MIA. Chloe recalled her cousin mentioning some harebrained scheme involving Oliver and the Green Arrow.

She filled the tea kettle with some water and put it on the stove to heat up. Coffee might be her elixir of life, but tea was more soothing. And after the night Chloe had had, she needed soothing. Almost getting killed by a meteor-infected puddle person could do that to you. Chloe brought her hand up to her split lip. She gave a wince as she recalled the insane look in Linda Lake’s eyes as she had tried to kill her.

A knock at the door broke the blonde from her thoughts. Chloe glanced at the clock; it was almost midnight. Lois wouldn’t be knocking at the door to her own apartment. Chloe was pretty sure Lana was home for the night; plus, she kind of had a feeling her friend wasn’t too happy with her anyway. So that left either Clark or Jimmy.

There was another knock. Chloe glanced down at her red tank top and black shorts. She grimaced then shrugged. “Oh well,” she murmured. It was midnight and she had had a really bad evening. She wasn’t trying to impress anyone.

Chloe made her way to the source of the noise, pulled open the front door, and looked up into the expectant face of Oliver Queen. “Oliver?”

“Hi, Chloe,” the attractive billionaire greeted her. “Is Lois…” he paused, his eyes noticing her split lip. He glanced at her face, taking in her other cuts and bruises. “What happened to you?” he asked with concern.

Chloe laughed, “Oh, you know, attacked and almost killed by a meteor-freak,” she said tiredly. “Same old.”

Oliver raised his eyebrows in shock. “Are you okay?”

Chloe shrugged, “Nothing a First Aid kit won’t cure.”

Oliver’s eyes flitted behind her. He glanced around the empty apartment. “Are you by yourself?”

“Yea.”

“Mind if I come in?”

Chloe raised an eyebrow and gave Oliver a funny look.

Oliver thought about his choice of words and laughed, his cheeks flaming. “That’s not what I meant,” he said while rubbing his neck in embarrassment. “I just thought you might like some company after what happened earlier tonight.”

Chloe bit her lip before nodding slowly. “It would be nice. I don’t really want to be alone right now. I thought Lois would be home…”

“So did I,” Oliver replied. He shut the door behind him. “We didn’t end the evening on the best of terms,” he told her while removing his coat. “I felt bad leaving things that way.”

Chloe looked at Oliver with concern. Before she could say anything, the tea kettle let out a piercing whistle from the kitchen. Chloe spun around with a gasp, her heart hammering in her chest. Realizing what had caused the noise, and feeling stupid, she grinned apologetically at Oliver. “Sorry,” she said, “Guess I’m still a little jumpy. Do you want some tea?”

“Understandable,” Oliver replied as he followed her into the kitchen. “Sure, I’d love some.” He leaned against the counter and watched Chloe as she prepared their tea. He found his eyes inadvertedly taking in her appearance. He grinned at her clothing. The few times he had interacted with Chloe she had always been dressed professionally, her appearance sharp. It was interesting to see her in her down time. And he wasn’t knocking her outfit either. The tank top and shorts were fitting and showed off Chloe’s curves and legs.

Oliver mentally slapped himself for checking out Lois’ cousin. He had a feeling things between him and Lois were coming to an end though. He cared about her, but she wasn’t very trusting. And she could be incredibly stubborn and high maintenance. He wanted Lois to get to know him better, but she was too obsessed with discovering the true identity of the Green Arrow.

Oliver snapped back to reality as Chloe handed him his mug of tea.

“Looks like some intense thinking is going on behind those baby blues,” Chloe said with a grin. She stood next to Oliver, her hip leaning against the edge of the sink.

Oliver smiled down at her. “Just thinking about Lois.”

“Aw, true love!”

“I don’t know about that,” Oliver frowned.

“Why?” Chloe asked. “What happened?”

“I’m not really sure,” Oliver replied honestly.

Chloe nodded. “Lois can be a tough one to figure out… or get along with… or put up with…” she grinned at Oliver before taking a sip of her tea. She immediately recoiled in pain and set her mug down on the counter. “Damn it!” she hissed, gently touching her split lip.

Oliver set his mug down with a frown then turned back to Chloe. He stepped closer to her, gently grabbed her chin and tilted her face up to his. His eyes danced across her skin, his frown deepening at the multiple cuts and bruises that marred her pretty face. “You were really taken to the mat, huh?”

Chloe blinked owlishly at him. Her coffee levels must have been dangerously low, because at that moment, the only thing she could think of was how attractive Oliver was and how much she liked his hands on her face.

Oliver turned her face slightly and tucked her hair behind her ear, trying to get a better look at the gashes on her cheek.

Chloe shivered at his touch and quickly stepped away. DANGER! Invasion of personal space by a pretty boy is not a good idea, flashed through her brain.

Oliver looked at her quizzically.

“Um… I should find that First Aid kit,” Chloe said lamely. She quickly turned away, her cheeks flushing a bright red, and began rummaging around in the kitchen cabinets. Growing irritated, she slammed the third cabinet door shut and stood in the middle of the kitchen with her hands on her hips.

“Maybe it’s in the bathroom?” Oliver said, the amusement obvious in his voice.

“No, that would be too easy,” Chloe replied seriously. She slowly turned in a circle, her eyes scouring the entire kitchen—determinedly avoiding Oliver’s person—before they rested on the refrigerator. She walked over to the massive appliance and glared up at it. “Bingo,” she grumbled. She grabbed a step-stool nearby and climbed up on it. She heard Oliver snicker behind her as the stool barely elevated her six inches off the ground. She couldn’t even see over the top of the fridge.

Oliver came up beside her and grinned. Even standing on the stool, Chloe was still a few inches shorter than him. He stretched his arms up and felt around before pulling the dust-covered First Aid kit from the top of the refrigerator. “Found it,” Oliver smiled brightly at her, offering her the kit.

Chloe, still standing on the step-stool, could only smile back. Linda Lake must have bashed her head around a bit more than she remembered, because Chloe was pretty sure her brain wasn’t working right.

“Chloe?”

“Hmmm?” the tiny blonde replied, unable to tear her eyes away from Oliver’s face.

“Are you feeling alright?” Chloe didn’t respond; Oliver looked at her with concern. He brought his hand up to her forehead and rested the back of it against her skin. The contact immediately broke Chloe from her stupor. She jerked so violently that she tumbled sideways off of the stool. Oliver grabbed her arms, helping her to right herself.

Chloe wanted to slap herself. What the hell was wrong with her? She was acting totally enamored with Lois’ boyfriendNot to mention she had a boyfriend of her own. Good ole whatshisname.

“Sorry,” she squeaked. She quickly grabbed the First Aid kit from Oliver’s hands and hurried into the bathroom. She set the kit on the counter. When she looked at herself in the mirror she almost recoiled in shock. Her face was pale and she had a livid bruise on her right cheek. Her bottom lip was swollen, the split in it still bleeding. She had three angry scratches on her left cheek from where Linda Lake had clawed at her face. “Could I be any more gross?” Chloe mumbled to herself as she dug through the kit for some alcohol.

“I don’t think that’s fair.”

Chloe’s eyes snapped up. Through the mirror she could see Oliver leaning against the doorframe behind her. Their eyes met and Chloe quickly lowered hers, giving a laugh. “Yea, whatever you say. You’re not the one who looks like they got hit in the face with a Mac truck.”

Oliver joined her at the sink. He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned on the counter, watching her as she dabbed at the scratches on her cheek with an alcohol-saturated cotton ball. “Nah, you just look like you went a few rounds with a meteor-freak is all. They’re battle scars, Chloe!”

Chloe’s hiss of pain turned into a giggle as she looked at him out of the corner of her eye. “Guess I’m a real warrior, huh?”

Oliver grinned. “I would think so. So what happened anyway?”

Chloe filled Oliver in on her encounter with Linda Lake as she continued to treat her injuries. She made sure to leave out any details concerning Clark but told him about the gossip columnist’s unethical means of finding information and her meteor-fused abilities. Chloe clicked the First Aid kit shut and stowed it away under the bathroom sink. She looked at Oliver who was watching her with a smirk. Chloe tucked her hair behind her ear self-consciously before crossing her arms over her chest. “What?” she asked, partially annoyed by the way he was watching her.

“I’m just trying to picture this violent brawl,” Oliver drawled. “You’re so tiny.”

“Hey!” Chloe said, insulted. Her hands went to her hips and she tilted her head, glaring at Oliver. “Good things come in small packages!”

Oliver gave her a once over. “I’ll say.” He moved closer to her, his hands coming up to rest on her upper arms. “I’m only joking,” he said, smiling. “I’m sure you’re a very capable woman.”

Chloe’s brain was growing fuzzy. The only thing she could seem to register was his warm and soft hands on her bare shoulders. She shivered, “I am,” she finally answered, looking up at him through lowered lashes.

Oliver leaned in closer to her, the heat from his body warming Chloe almost instantly. He brought a hand up to stroke her hair before slowly brushing the back of his knuckles along her jaw, carefully avoiding her injuries.

Chloe’s heart was beating furiously in her chest. Jimmy had never made her feel this way. And she had done much more with him than stand by as he gently touched her face.

Oliver’s other hand burned a hot trail down Chloe’s arm as he slowly caressed her from shoulder to fingertips and back up again. His hand gently made it’s way to the base of Chloe’s head and he tilted it back so he could look down into her face. The billionaire had a rare look of awe on his face, like he wasn’t quite sure what he was doing but it didn’t really matter because all he knew was that he didn’t want to stop.

Chloe had never had such an intense experience in her entire life. Oliver’s eyes burned into her, scorching her to her very center. She felt a delicious flame uncurl in her stomach and she had to forcefully stop her toes from curling.

He bent his face down, mere centimeters away from her, his lips hovering right above hers. Chloe could feel his warm breath against her mouth, could practically taste him, and it made her want to moan in delight. She wanted to taste him. No, she needed to taste him.

Oliver turned his face slightly, his lips now a hair’s breath away from her own.

Suddenly, there was a loud slam from the front of the apartment. “Chloe?” Lois’ voice rang out.

Oliver and Chloe jumped away from each other, startled. Oliver let out a shaky breath as he ran a hand through his hair. He took a backwards step towards the door of the bathroom.

Chloe crossed her arms over her chest. She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down her rapid heartbeat. She looked up and her eyes connected with Oliver’s.

He gave her another one of those intense looks before taking another retreating step from the room. “I’m sorry,” he told her quietly before he was gone.

Chloe all but collapsed against the bathroom counter. She looked at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were wide and confused. She blinked rapidly. The back of her eyes were burning; she didn’t know why.

“Oliver?” she could hear the surprise in Lois’ voice as Oliver mad his presence known. Chloe couldn’t hear his reply or whatever it was he was saying now. She couldn’t hear Lois’ words anymore either. Just the rumble of distant voices. They were speaking too low. They were speaking in private. Chloe had no right hearing their conversation. She had no right almost kissing Oliver Queen. She had no right at all.

She was surprised to feel moisture on her cheeks and looked up to find a few tears slowly running down her face. Funny, she hadn’t remembered shedding them. She gave herself one more look in the mirror before turning around and leaving the bathroom, clicking the light off behind her.

The terror, pain, exhaustion and guilt from her night were overwhelming. Chloe crawled into Lois’ bed and pulled the covers up around herself. Lois wouldn’t mind; she was occupied at the moment anyway. Occupied with Oliver.

Chloe closed her eyes tightly and tried to clear him from her mind. Him and his good looks, his sexy voice, his scent, his warm breath and soft hands… all of him. Chloe tried not to think of any of it. She tried to think of Jimmy instead. But at the moment, she couldn’t even remember what he looked like.

With an annoyed huff, Chloe turned on her side. She suddenly felt crazy. She didn’t want anything to do with Jimmy. She wanted to laugh and cry and scream all at the same time. Her head was pounding painfully and she brought the heels of her palms up to try and press the pain away from behind her eyes.

“Chlo?” Lois’ soft voice called from the doorway. A moment later, Chloe felt the bed dip down beside her. “You still awake?” Lois asked softly, bringing a hand up to brush the hair away from Chloe’s forehead.

For a moment, Chloe wanted to pretend like she was sleeping. But she finally rolled over to face Lois. The bright light form the front of the apartment dimly lit the room and Chloe could see her cousin looking down at her with concern etched on her face.

“Hey,” Lois said. “Oliver told me about what happened. Are you okay?”

Chloe nodded, but to her horror, a sob escaped her. A few minutes ago she had almost made out with Lois’ boyfriend and here her cousin was, full of concern and worry for her. Chloe felt like a horrible person.

“Aw, Chloe!” Lois said, sounding mildly alarmed. “It’s okay! That psycho slut is toast… actually she’s more soup-like from what I hear.”

Though she didn’t know it was possible, Chloe let out a laughing sob. She let Lois hug her and stroke her hair and as the minutes went by she was reduced to sniffles. “I’m sorry,” she said at last.

“Hey, no big!” Lois assured her. “We all need a little weep time here and there.”

“Yea, I guess.”

“I know what will cheer you up!” Lois said as she lay down on her side next to Chloe so they could talk face to face. “You have got to hear about my crazy night!”

Chloe grinned as Lois told her about her encounter with the Green Arrow and Oliver’s impromptu appearance. “And before any of us knew what was going on, he had disappeared, like that,” Lois said with a snap of her fingers. “It was seriously freaky.”

“So, the Green Arrow appeared to have super-strength and he could all but disappear in the blink of an eye?” Chloe said, barely able to contain a grin.

“Yuh huh,” Lois nodded affirmatively.

Oh Clark, Chloe thought, what the hell are you up to? “So what about you and Oliver?” Chloe asked her cousin, trying to sound nonchalant.

“I don’t know,” Lois huffed. “I mean, I thought I liked him… I thought I really liked him. But now…”

“Now what?”

“Now I can’t get the Green Arrow out of my head,” Lois sighed. “I’m telling ya, cuz. That kiss was one of the best experiences of my life.”

Chloe couldn’t help herself; she giggled. Things were suddenly looking up. And she could not wait to see Clark tomorrow. Chloe couldn’t suppress a yawn as Lois gave her a dirty look.

“What’s so funny?”

Chloe yawned again before huddling down into the covers. “I just think it’s funny that you were all ‘Oh the Green Arrow is evil and trouble and a criminal,’ and now you’re all ‘Oh the Green Arrow is a hottie!’”

“I didn’t say that!” Lois shrieked. Chloe watched as her cousin seemed to have an internal debate. “But,” Lois spoke offhandedly, “there is no way someone can kiss like that and not be hot.”

Chloe giggled again.

Lois pulled the covers up to her neck and rolled her eyes. “Chlo, you haven’t giggled this much since you were thirteen. I think you need some shut eye.”

“You’re just eager to have some sweet dreams about the Green Hottie,” Chloe snickered. A moment later, she was whacked in the face with a pillow.

Lois smiled in the dark at Chloe’s muffled laughter. “Goodnight, Chloe.”

“Goodnight, Lois,” Chloe’s muffled voice replied. “Sweet dreams.”
