Chapter Seventeen: When Moms Attack

Hunter and Luke both shared the same sheepish and guilty expression as Cristina looked back and forth between them. Luke would have given anything for her to yell at him to tell him he was taking advantage of her daughter but instead Cristina was staring at both of them, a portrait of tightly controlled calm anger and it scared the crap out of him and Hunter.

“Mom . . . ” “Don’t say anything.” Cristina stated holding up her hand, “Don’t say anything until I come to grips with what I saw.”

Sighing Hunter bit her lip and looked over at Luke who looked positively petrified and she was sure she looked like she was scared for her life as well. Whenever her Mom was, calm Hunter would always feel extremely scared it was like the phrase “the calm before the storm” and right now Cristina fit that expression perfectly.

“Why the hell were you making out with my daughter in a hospital hallway across from the busiest nurse’s station in the hospital? Are you that stupid, that dense? And Hunter I thought I raised you better! Since when do you make out with random guys, especially guys you refer to as disgusting pigs and continually complain about every time you leave Meredith’s house?”

“Mom!”

“Don’t Mom me, you don’t get to Mom me not after what I just saw! Look I get that your hormones are raging and blah blah but couldn’t you two have been a little more discreet? Both of your parents work in this hospital! What the hell is wrong with you?”

“Hello!” Cristina yelled standing directly in front of Luke, “I’m asking you a question!”

“Sorry I wasn’t sure it was directed toward me. And you can’t blame all of this on me your daughter is the one who kissed me. It’s not my fault. I’m irresistible.” Luke mused smirking.

Cristina shook her head in disgust remarking, “Ugh you are just like your father when he was intern here. I hope you grow out of your disgustingness soon.”

“Mom can I say something?” Hunter asked raising her hand as if she were in school.

“Go ahead. You have five minutes to defend your actions and tell me what exactly possessed you to do what you were doing.”

“Look the only reason I’m here meaning in the hospital today was so I could talk to you about my date with Luke . . . ”

“Your what!” Cristina shrieked before she glared at Luke saying, “You coerced my daughter into a date? Is that what this making out was all about?”

“Hey I didn’t force or coerce Hunter into doing anything she didn’t want to do.” Luke defended himself.

“Yeah Mom I knew exactly what I was doing when I accepted the date. It’s just a movie and maybe ice cream and I swear nothing’s going to happen! Just let me go on this one date and then you can ground me you can do whatever you want.”

Cristina sighed as she looked at her daughter and could tell she really wanted to go why Cristina didn’t really know but there wasn’t any real reason she couldn’t go and she knew that if Hunter asked her father, Preston would cave. He really went soft after Hunter was born, she should talk to him about that.

“Fine you can go but on one condition: I’m talking to your parents about this date thing and then if they convince me you’re good enough for my daughter to date you then Hunter can go. Now both of you get out of here before I change my mind.”

The two quickly scrambled out of their chairs and left Cristina’s office, Luke leaving the hospital completely after deciding he could talk to his Mom about Izzie helping out with the bake sale later and Hunter going to her Dad’s office so she could talk to him about the date.
