A Dream
The Phoenix rises
Hope made feathered flesh
From the ashes
Of impermanent demise.
The new age dawns
Freedom becomes a right
Not a privilege
That divides society
With imagined lines,
Thicker than battlements.
People toil
In harmony contented
As they share the bounty
Of Earth at peace.
Armies sleep
Their purpose disbanded
As nations deliberate
The lives of their citizens
Valued by far
Over power and riches.
Countries defy
The hypocrisies of the chessboard
And honour peace
Over propaganda of war.
Birds soar
The peoples’ spirit symbolized,
In living metaphors
Of freedom and hope.
The world turns
Completely ambivalent.
