Chapter 1: Dark Evergreen
“I’ll take out the trash!!!” Amaya yelled picking up the bags and walking out the back door. Chucking them in the cans she then walked around to the front. As she approached, she saw him standing, with an old satchel bag slung over his shoulder, smiling.
"Hello." Amaya said kinda surprising him, the boy, who looked a year older, then spoke...
"Hi. I'm JD, a reporter. I'm doing research on the Mew Mews."
"Ah, could we meet later? I can tell you a bit of what I know then." Amaya said with a nervous smile on her face. Though he didn’t seem to notice.
"Sure. Where?" JD asked with a grin.
"My place, after dinner?" Amaya said not being able to think of any better place.
"K then I just need an address.” JD said pulling out a notepad and a pen. Amaya nodded.
“Uh, 22 Kimoda Street. It’s kinda hard to miss.” she said and JD nodded smiling.
“I'll see you then, Amaya!" JD said excitedly.
"Uh... Yeah, I can't wait!!" Amaya said with a fake grin. She sighed once she lost sight of him in the crowd. Running a hand through her ponytail. She turned on the spot and walked back to café’s back door.
“I hate to do these kinda things but I have to.” Amaya said sighing.
“How do I lead him off our track?” Amaya asked herself more than anyone else fixing up her evergreen café uniform. She looked up at the sky then towards the door again putting her hand on the knob she smiled to herself.
“He is pretty cute though.” Then, whistling to herself, she walked back inside the cafe...
"Someone's here to see you sis!" Mitzuki said, with a big grin on her face then taking a deep breath. Amaya walked towards the door slapping her sister on the head playfully before bounding down the stairs, to the front door. When she opened it, she had to stifle a laugh.
"Tried to get here as quick as I could, but I got lost. Now I'm kinda soaked." JD said his brown hair sticking to his face.
"Come on in before you catch a cold!!" Amaya ended up having to herd JD into the lounge due to a little hesitance. He sat down on the couch, sneezing every minute or so.
“Here let me take those…” Amaya said taking his bag and jacket and going into the laundry and sticking them in the dryer grabbing a towel on the way out. She then went into the kitchen, and came back with a towel and a cup of hot chocolate.
"T-t-thanks." JD stammered as she wrapped the towel around him and put the cup in his hands.
"It's nothing.” she said then it went quite only the clocks ticking. It was awkward and extremely uncomfortably and it didn’t help that she didn’t even know what to say to him yet.
“You want to stay?" she blurted out.
"N-no. I'll be going soon." JD said still shaking and Amaya frowned.
"No you won't!" Amaya replied coming up with an idea how to lead him away from the mew project.
"You’re staying and that's final." She said crossing her arms and glaring at him, he then sighed and nodded.
"Ok, I give up I‘ll stay." JD said Amaya grinned and ruffled his hair which was now pretty much dry.
"I knew you'd see it my way." She said smirking then leaving the room, and going upstairs to her room. Amaya came back a few minutes later, dressed in a black tank top with a white cat curled up in a ball with the words princess in fancy pink writing and pink shorts with little black kitties on it. JD stared at her and she grinned.
“What! I like cats, just not the pink.” She said with smile JD nodded at her with a smile. She then down sat beside him, she was starting to have second thoughts on her plan. Which was to distract him so much that he didn’t have time to work on the research for the mews. She took a deep breath then smiled putting her arms round him. He seemed startled but didn’t pull away, actually it looked like he didn’t know what to do!
"Do you love me?" she said seriously but in her mind she was kicking herself with embarrassment.
This isn’t going to work… Shit!!
JD was staring at her, he looked kinda taken aback and Amaya slowly took her arms away. JD then seemed to kind come back to reality.
"Uh, I only met you today, its not that I don‘t like you or anything… How bout we go on a date to see if I do, k??" JD asked looking slightly confused, I nodded grinning.
Maybe this will work!!
After talking a bit and getting to know each other, Amaya looked up at the clock above the fireplace.
"Ok, time for bed!!" She said grinning, JD raised an eyebrow but nodded.
She got up, and dragged JD upstairs to her room... It was painted bright blue, with photos of her as a baby, at school, at the cafe, doing gymnastics, and of her with her mother all around.
"Here." She smiled she said chucking him a tank and a dry pair of boxers.
“They my brothers for when he stays.” JD nodded and took the clothes she’d given him out of the room to the bathroom which was next door. When he walked back in Amaya smiled she was sitting on the bed and just looking at what he was wearing made her think of what her brother would say if she told him she‘d lent his clothes to the other. She then motioned to the bed she was sitting on. He walked over and sat down, this was the next addition to her plan which she had just made up on the spot.
“Your sleeping here tonight. With me.” She said grinning.
"You're kidding, right?" JD asked with a weird look on his face.
"It's this or nothing." Amaya chorused and JD sighed in defeat the two of them getting into the double bed. After that it was dead silence though neither of them had fell asleep and both were aware of it.
"Want to go out tomorrow and do something?" Amaya asked breaking the silence.
"Sure. What?" Amaya grinned at his answer, at least for once in her life her plan was actually working.
"Come and watch me do my gymnastic rehearsals, please?"
"OK. I'll go..." Amaya let out a fake squeal, and gave him a kiss on the cheek, before pulling up the covers to her neck, and finally going to sleep. JD was quick to follow, thinking how he had caught the full attention of a waitress, who was madly in love with him. Little did he know.
It was the sound of an alarm clock, and the sun that was streaming through the window that woke JD up. Also he felt himself being shaken, which wasn‘t helping.
"Wake up!" yelled Amaya, who was already dressed in jeans and a black tank. She threw his clothes at him which were now dry.
"I'm up..." he replied and she grinned while brushing her hair. He smiled tiredly then walked back to the bathroom closing the door and getting changed. When he looked in the mirror his face screwed up at the fuzz ball he had for hair. He quickly found a comb and brushed out all the tangled knots and after awhile making it presentable and not some brown afro style thing. He jumped when he heard a loud bang on the door.
“Hurry Up!!!!” JD sighed quickly gathering up what was his then opening the door to come face to face with the girl who had opened the door last night, she didn’t look happy. He waved and smiled sheepishly.
“Hi?”
“And guys think girls take long. God.” she said grabbing him and swinging him out of the way then slamming the door in his face. He heard a giggle behind him and quickly turned around to see Amaya who was still brushing her long hair.
“Sorry, my sister can be extremely grumpy in the mornings.” She then tossed the long black hair over her shoulder. JD nodded slowly. Then followed her down the stairs and into the kitchen where a tall, dark, brown haired, woman was bustling around.
“Hi mum!!” Amaya grinned and her mum turned around quickly and hugged her.
“Hey sweetie!!!” her mum said hugging her tightly. She had tanned skin and ice blue eyes to compliment the dark hair. Amaya didn’t look much like her though maybe a few similarities in body build, facial features and probably personality but that’s about it. When her mum pulled away she looked directly at him.
“Now, now who’s this?!” she said with her hands on her hips, though she was grinning. Amaya smiled and walked over to JD’s side.
“Mum I’d like you to meet JD!” she smiled and her mum squealed,
“Really!! Well it’s nice to meet you JD! My names Kyoko ad ’m obviously Amaya’s and Mitzuki’s mum!” Their mum was extremely energetic and she looked pretty young. JD smiled he was really starting to like this family.
“Are you my daughter’s boyfriend!” JD went red as did Amaya.
“Well I guess, uh kinda!” She squealed again and Amaya looked like she was about to die of embarrassment. She pulled her mum away then whispered some things to her who nodded headed to the counter gave them some toast then shooed them out the door.
“Now don’t you try any funny stuff mister!!” her mum grinned. Then the two teens waved goodbye and headed down the street.
“Your mum’s nice.”
“Yeah, but she can get a bit crazy. As you’ve witnessed.” Then it went silent.
"My rehearsal's at half-past nine. It's ten past." said Amaya, as she checked her watch a few minutes later. JD nodded and they speeded up the pace a bit. Luckily they got to the hall just on time.
"How long's the rehearsal?" JD questioned and Amaya grinned.
"An hour." JD groaned and she lightly slapped him on the arm.
“It’s not that bad! Now go inside, and wait..." JD agreed and found a seat in the back.
A few minutes later, she came out wearing a black leotard with evergreen and white tints. She was with a bunch of other girls including her sister and they were giggling loudly but stopped when their coach started giving instructions. Then the lesson began...
