Chapter 2: the Venom

"Is she going to die Arkano?"

"No"

"Thank God!" Serenity smiled for the first time for a very long time, she might never tell it but Haruka and her had a deep and fond friendship. The Senshi of the wind was the most loyal of her Senshi’s.

"I'm afraid is not good news, my lady."

"Why you say that? She's alive."

"Her body is, and I assume this just because she's intensely eager to live as if for some reason she might been holding on to her life. But as I said it is not so simple, a part of her died."

The blonde princess, looking alarmed, stared at the fragile figure on the bed. "Which part Arkano?"

"The snake venom killed something precious inside Uranus. I'm afraid my lady... That Uranus’s heart is irremediably dead."

Serenity looked at the man talking to her trying to find a meaning to what he had stated. "Her heart? But how could someone possibly live with no heart?"

"Is not as simple as it sounds your Highness, the youma attacked her soul and her heart got poisoned, she is alive and she will for a long time, she's young and her physical injures would heal, but her heart is too poisoned. And I'm afraid she'll stopped being the woman you all knew."

The princess looked away from the dark man eyes and back to Haruka, she walked to the bed and touched the hot skin on the blonde's cheek. Her eyes were watery, seeing her friend in this situation was so painful for her. She recovered her calm and looked back at the king of Saturn who still stood in the room "If she is alive Arkano, a part of her heart must be alive, you healed her body, I'll find who would heal her soul, I appreciate your services and I hope we'll meet again under better circumstances."

The man nodded."Is there anything else I can do for you my lady?"

"Check Neptune's leg, she's injured, and please Arkano break the news to her as easy as possible, she and Uranus are ..close."

"Will do my princess" The man walked out of the room and Serenity walked to the white couch to sit down. Close, Uranus and Neptune were not close, they were way more than that, she knew each one would die for the other, she knew about the plans they had to be wedded, how was Michiru to survive this news?

She had to do something. She walked once more to the bed when she heard the blonde moaning. "Haruka?"

Haruka opened her eyes slowly, everything was so painful now, the lights were so harsh on her eyes and breathing was extremely hard. It was as if a thousand nails got stucked in her lungs everytime some air came in or out. She heard a voice that sounded familar, she tried to focus her sight, and she saw her, a blonde angel was smiling at her, her warm blue eyes looking into hers. "Serenity"

The princess closed her eyes relieved, she remembered her. "Hello Haruka, how are you feeling?"

Headache. An intense one, she tried to touch her forehead but the effort of lifting her arm was even more painful. "Im fine princess"

"Princess? Haruka had never called me like that when being alone..." "You need to rest"

"I cannot rest from my duty to you, your highness"

A worried expression appeared on the princess eyes, Haruka's voice was cold and the way she talked to her was polite but unintimate. However things could be worse. "I'll leave you to rest Haruka, I'll try to come and see you later, I'm glad you came back to us"

The blonde nodded with calmed expression and saw the blonde exit the room, once alone she took a moment to think, she was sore, but obviously on recovery however there was something else, why she felt so different now? As if she had lost something, like a void sensation on her chest that had nothing to do with the physical pain she experienced. Too sore to think it out, she came to the conclusion that maybe it was nothing...

Neptune and Pluto saw the tall dark figure of king Arkano approaching them, the aqua colored hair girl clinched her hands in her lap while trying to control her anxiety, the face of the man was unreadable. Both girls stand in presence of the king as the protocol required.

"Your majesty " Pluto spoke with serious voice. " Is there anything you need?"

"The princess asked me to check on Princess Neptune leg" Michiru wanted so badly to ask a million questions to the doctor but she had to wait until the doctor examined her leg. The cut was deeper and nastier than she remembered, and it stinged like hell. "The venom of the youma kills everything it touches, you're lucky you can still walk, it hurts you doesn't it?"

"Yes" She panted, as he touched the wound slightly, it did hurt and she wondered that if her leg hurted so much how much pain was her Haruka feeling?

Arkano touched his wound and Michiru felt a tingle it was a warm sensation of comfort, the pain was easily soothing away. Arkano healed her wound. "Uranus would live Princess Neptune" Michiru felt her heart jumping in her chest out of pure joy. Through the depths of her colbalt eyes shown the happiness for Haruka's health status. "However..." However? The heart of the beauty stopped for a second, expecting the worst. "She ... Uranus, she..." The king looked into the deep sea blue eyes knowing he'll have to break to her such terrible news. "Her heart was severely damaged and she..."

Michiru still holding her breath looked at the king. "Tell me the truth"

"She is alive, she'll know who you are, but she won't love you again, Uranus heart is gone"

Michiru's heart was crashing to her ribs in an almost suicidal attempt to fall into her lap. Words became a struggle to speak for all she could think of was her love bandaged and confined to a bed. In and out air rattled into her lungs and shoved back into the atmosphere for a world without Haruka's love was not worth living at all. Curls of sea green hair cascaded down her shoulders as she fought to conceive a world without the person who created it. How is it that the sun grown dimmer and the stars burnt out all in the short time span of a few seconds?

Trembling from head to toes she willed her body to move and as soon as the king left she walked back to the room she shared with Haruka. She came closer to the bed to see Haruka's broken form. White sheets swallowed the body of her love as she stared wide eyed to the person who meant more to her than anyone else. "How can such a fragile person be without a heart to love me? "

The blonde open her eyes to see Michiru standing next to the bed, her face pale as the moonlight and her green cascade of curls lose. She looked fragile but so beauiful drawn against the light of the windows, she even thought the girl glowed. Who was this girl? Bells were ringing in her head when realizing that she was Neptune, her fellow partner...only that right?

"Haruka" Haruka was stranged to hear her name again but compose a smile for the beauty. "How are your feeling?"

"Good"

Michiru nodded, what if Arkano was wrong? She touched Haruka's hand, it was cold. "You scared me Ruka"

Haruka frowned looking at the girl not understanding. "Thanks for stopping by Neptune" Michiru took her hand away. Neptune? " Tell the other senshi I'll not stop our mission, I'll be recovered in a few days, ready to fight again."

"You know who I am Haruka?"

"Of course." She answered stranged. "You are Princess Michiru Kaioh of Neptune I did not obtain amnesia, just a headache"

"But... us Haruka, you remember us?" Her voice was shaky, so were her legs, Michiru knew her face ran out her fear.

The wind senshi frowned again, what did this girl wanted? She was so sore. "Course" Michiru looked expectant, a small flame of hope in her chest. "You and I are a team, the most strong on the senshi's we vowed to protect the Solar System for the are Sailor Neptune and I'm Sailor Uranus, as I said I don't got amnesia." Michiru stepped back looking pale, her leg stinged again and she panted. "Are you ok Neptune?"

(Flashback)

Michiru walked down the stairs in a hurry, she was late... "First week in the moon palace and you're running late" She thought. She speed down the stairs but the amazing light game of the sunset entering the colored glasses caught her eye, it was so beautiful, she held her breath, the light bathing her soft pale skin as if it was immersed in a fantastic spell...

Haruka walked down the hall to meet her new fellow senshi. She was excited, all the training was finally going to pay off, what kind of fierce warriors the other senshi would be? Could she stood by them? She was lost in her thoughts when a vision cought her eyes. It was just a second, an instant but it was perfect... A woman, her silhouette was drawn against the incredible colored light, her hair of the color of the sea waves shining, the soft curves of her body caressed by white silk warmed into the colors of the rainbow by the entering light... a woman. The most beautiful woman she ever saw.

Michiru smiled in her daydream, even a speck of dust would shine as a fairy, she turned around aroused by the magic of this instant, her blue eyes sparkling, her heart beating fast... as she turned her green locks danced along, she was so happy...

And their eyes met, for a instant for an moment. Michiru stood still holding her breath again, the energy of the woman, that stopped being a stranger in a breath, surrounding her; and Haruka walked to meet her and without thinking she touched her face and they both lost in the other eyes... she knew who this was... they have dreamed about each other since the start of times... she was her half. Her everything.

"are you really ok?"

"Yes..." She lied. "My leg hurts, that's all"

Haruka looked again into those fantastic blue eyes filled with pain and she felt a small sting, confusing it with an effect of her injuries she nodded. "You should rest Neptune, thanks for paying a visit, go back to your room"

"My room" She whispered and unconsciously look around, her room... she was in the middle of it. "Yes of course, rest... Uranus" She turned around while feeling the pain grow back into her leg as strong as when the youma bit her, and started walking to the door, she excited in silence hearing the blonde saying goodbye, as she closed the door she pressed her back against it containing a guttural sob, her heart was breaking in pieces- "Haruka... are you there?"

Setsuna entered her room feeling tired, the events of the day had worn her out, she saw the balcony door opened, the curtains swaying with the cold wind of the afternoon, she walked to the terrace and saw her. "How is she?" She asked Setsuna in a soft voice.

Setsuna looked smiling at the slim blonde leaning against the balcony, her long golden hair being rocked by the wind. "She'll live"

Minako breathed deeply as if she had ben containing her breath. "Thank the Gods" She said with relief.

"Michiru is fine too... not that you care"

The blonde turned around slowly examining her lover's eyes. "Why do you say such things Suna? I was worried for her as well"

"Sometimes I have the impression that you don't like Neptune at all"

"That's not true, we're not close that's all, so are they both ok?" Setsuna with a dark look on her eyes stayed a second in silence. "Don't scare me, those silences of yours are never good"

"Uranus, she...she won't be herself anytime soon Mina," Setsuna stepped closer and pulled the smaller girl closer by the waist kissing her lips soflty. "I'll thank the god's I have you here and we love each other... I missed you"

"Me too" Minako surround her neck and kissed Setsuna deeper. She wanted to ask some more about Haruka's condition but she guessed right. For she knew at the moment she would not be able to get more info from the time senshi, so she let herself go for now.

(Knock, knock)

Haruka opened her eyes slowly she wanted to rest some more but apparently that was not possible in this castle. "Come in" A young girl in a lavender dress came in, her eyes were of an intense shade of violet and her hair was black as a starless night. "Saturn"

"Hi Ruka" She said walking right to the bed and sitting next to her smiling. "You don't look so bad"

"Er...thanks." Why was everyone so familiar with her and she felt awkward with it?

"Where's Michi?"

"You mean Neptune?"

"Who else I'll mean?"

"She's in her room"

Hotaru looked around the bedroom, she had always like the blue carpet and the white canopy over the bed, like a boat sailing in the ocean. "I don't see her"

"Huh? What you mean sweety?" "Why did I call her that? But she smiled, so maybe that's how I usually call her."

"Is not lost completly" Hotaru smiled.

"huh? Is it my headache real strong or you're not making sense ...Saturn, did you look for Neptune in her bedroom?"

"I am now"

"What?" Haruka closed her eyes understanding, the images where there, she and Neptune were lovers. "Oh no..." What was she suppose to do now? And that headache was still killing her, why she had opened her eyes today in te first place?

"Guess you need someone to refresh your mind"

The blonde looked at the young girl and half smile. "Guess that's you no?"
