Child of the Sun

Prologue

----

What annoys me the most in High School are the students. I don’t dislike the teachers, the homework is easy enough, and my grades so far are perfect. It is, has been, and always will be the students, more specifically, the upperclassmen that irritate me to no end in Domino High School.

My friends, Téa, Joey, Tristan, Ryou, and I began our very first year of High School just one month ago. We’re already ticked off at the junior and seniors. They seem to think they have the right to bully us just because they’ve been here longer than us.

Téa, my crush, is always picked on because she has the courage to say what’s in her heart about them. Joey is harassed because of his lousy grades. (Admittedly they aren’t as great as Tristan’s, but that is still not an excuse to pick on someone.) Tristan’s grades led him into the Honors Class, and his hair-do into the hands of bullies. Ryou has a light British accent which makes him seem very unwelcome. (Though girls don’t seem to mind it.) Finally, despite my status as King of Games (from the freshmen, at least) I’m picked on because my hair is unnatural, regardless that a very popular student has the same exact one.

The thing is, my friends and I stand up for each other so we get picked on more than anyone in the school.

But bullying isn’t just it; the vandalism is the after-taste.

The hallways are always messed up; the students always write on the walls, and tip over chairs for the next classes to pick up. In the bathroom there is gossip and insults written all over the stalls, there are toilet paper sheets sprawled across the floor, and some people don’t even bother to flush. I recall once finding a toilet with vomit in it.

Yes, Domino High has a serious problem.

But hey, what do you expect with him as the most popular kid around?

Damn him.

Damn that Yami Yugi.
