Okay, this is my first xxxholic anything let alone write drabbles... So if these look a bit off and weird because I've never written Watanuki before. This is also unbeta-ed so forgive any grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
Note: If you haven't read up to the latest xxxholic chapter (chapter 127) then the first drabble might not make sense...
Running his fingers through still damp hair, Watanuki deftly wiped the remaining bit of white toothpaste foam still clinging to his chin and quickly checked the rest of his reflection. It should have been a ten second job – he wasn't a vain person, not unless it had something to do with Himawari-chan but that was then – but he found his gaze resting stubbornly on his cheek.
His hands stopped fiddling with the chain of the drain plug and slowly rose to touch the spot a certain spectre had traced not so long ago. The dream hadn't been unusual in any way, except for the fact that that was the first time he could remember Haruka-san ever making physical – metaphysical? – contact with him in his dreams. Well, okay, except for when he fell out of the window and was on the brink of joining his parents, but other than that there had been no contact.
The pads of his fingers ran over the smooth expanse of skin and he shuddered a little as his mind reminded him of the gentle caress. It was an innocent gesture, a caring touch from someone who was slowly becoming a confidant and friend, but it still set off some sort of internal niggling that made the event stick out in his mind. Something deep inside his brain – something that sounded suspiciously like Yuuko-san – was telling him that he knew exactly why this was so significant, but he stomped the voice down and scowled.
Needless to say, whatever the Yuuko-like voice was implying was most probably something bad. And knowing Yuuko-san, and thanking the gods that she hadn't gotten whiff of that little – intimate, the voice supplied – scene, she would most likely say something along the lines of 'Oh our dear Watanuki-kun has finally entered into the exciting stage of his life!' and proceed to order him around to prepare food and sake, or any kind of alcoholic beverage for that matter, to celebrate the joyous event.
His brows furrowed and he quickly finished up in the bathroom before making his way to do the final checks.
Why was he thinking so much into this? It wasn't as if that was an important expect of the dream. And should he be feeling slightly giddy and warm at all?
Stomping just that much harder on the floorboards, he marched around his apartment, checking the seals and making sure the windows were shut and locked and huffed.
He wasn't getting worked up about this! Not at all!
With another huff, he stalked to his already made futon and flopped down gracelessly on top of the comforter.
Nope! Not worked up at all! Noooo...
Watanuki knew that he should just think of him as Haruka instead of Haruka-san – like Himawari-chan becomes Himawari, and Doumeki stays Doumeki – when it was just him and his head, but Haruka-san without the honorific seemed wrong. The man was his elder, which naturally meant respect, but it wasn't because of that that Haruka-san remained Haruka-san in his thoughts. It had something to do with the gentle aura and presence the Doumeki look alike – or should it be Haruka-san look alike? – exuded in his dreams that made Watanuki hold him in higher regards.
Of course, that wasn't the same reason why Yuuko-san remained Yuuko-san in his thoughts too. Yuuko-san, Watanuki had concluded, was an evil and cunning woman who could, if she wanted to, delve into the deepest and darkest part of his thoughts and make him pay for not adding the honorific to the end of her name. And maybe, just maybe, he did respect the woman a little. Very little.
