Disclaimer: Yes! I own it! I own it all! That’s exactly why I still have to beg my parents for money and I’m writing this. In case you didn’t get the sarcasm, no I don’t own it. I do own their personalities and stuff.

Summary: Dwynwen was a young girl who’s only goal in life was to become a reclusive hermit and hide away from the rest of the world. But it seems the gods have other things in mind. With the help of Wukong and the others Dywn must save the world whether she wants to or not.

This is basically the story after the original story ‘XiYouJi’, but I never watched the actual series of ‘XiYouJi’ because I don’t understand Chinese(damn!), but I have read a lot about it and I’ve watched a little bit of ‘Monkey Magic’, and I did a lot of research, so I’m giving it a shot. I made up my own personalities for the characters of ‘XiYouJi’, but I hope their still good! Give it a chance, please!

And yes, I’m editing some stuff. Believe me, it’s for the better.

CHAPTER 1

A young girl around the age of 15 sat on a big red couch in a large three room apartments. She dialed a number from a black binder that rested on her lap.

“Hi. Mr. Swigerner? I would like to tell you about our magazine subscription. Now, please don’t hang up because then I’ll have to start over. Not to mention, it hurts my feelings,” she said into the ear phone she wore, boredly. She began to read magazines out of her binder. “Okay, we have here, ‘How to lose up to 10 pounds in one week’, ‘How to up your confidence’, ‘So you want to be a million air’, and . . . Hello?” Great. He hung up. With a growl she dialed the number again. “I told you not to hang up. Now we have to start all over again.” she said deathly low voice as she started to read again, but he hung up again.

“Fine! Who needs ya?!” she yelled as she yanked the ear phone from her ear and threw it to the floor. Then she grabbed a remote and turned on a TV.

Her name was Dwynwen Stone. She had long shaggy brown hair in a ponytail and pale skin with dull grey eyes.

Since her parents died, she’s been living with her older brother Jack and his roommate Derek. Even though she was only 15 she had a job selling magazine subscriptions over the phone, and since she never left the apartment except to go shopping, it was the perfect job for her. All she did all day was sit on the couch, selling magazines over the phone, watch TV, or surf the web, so of course she was a little pudgy, just a little.

“Dwyn. We need to talk.” said her older brother Jack as he looked at her over the railing, which was right above the couch.

“So talk.” said Dwynwen in her casual not caring tone as she tossed a bonbon in her mouth.

“Dwyn, I don’t mean to be rude, but this is pathetic! Look at you!” said Jack as he came down the small stairs. “You never leave the house! All you ever do is sit in here all day, eating bonbons all day. You are the most pathetic being I have ever seen!”

“Thanks for being so polite! What’s the big deal? I have a job and help pay rent! And for the record, this is a apartment, not a house.” Dwynwen snapped.

“That’s not the point,” said Jack as he stood in front of her. “Look, I know you’re depressed about Mom and Dad, but you have to get over it! Look at yourself! Look how you’re dressed.”

“What’s wrong with the way I dress?” Dwynwen asked as she looked at her brother, insulted. She wore a oversized dark green robe, a long sleeved orange sweat shirt, and bright red shorts.

“You’re wearing your PJs! All day! And you never hang out with anyone! And your wardrobe totally clashes.” Dwynwen’s brother said.

“Hey, I was a clown. We’re not that color coronated. And that’s not true. I hang with Derek and Al.” Dwynwen defended. Just then a man wearing a tie-die shirt with a matching headband, a brown leather vest, with matching pants and mockensins entered the room. He had long messy blonde hair and you couldn’t see his eyes because they were covered by dark round glasses.

“Hey, man. We got any food?” he asked as he went to the fridge. Jack gave him a ferocious glare.

“Al...” he said slowly in a growl. “Why are you here? You don’t live here. You come here everyday, eat all our food, use our shower, and you even bring your dates here. Why? Why don’t you get your own place for once?”

“Because man, we should not have to pay to live anywhere. We should live anywhere we want because it is our right. And I don’t even have a job, so there.” said Al as he pulled out a carton of milk. “Any bonbons left?” he asked as he sat next to Dwynwen.

“Here.” said Dwynwen as she handed him the box of bonbons. She then reached for the bottle of soda and Jack glared at them.

“Al, you are setting a bad example for Dwynwen! Why don’t you set a good example like Derek and I?”

Suddenly a man with a huge afro and a dashiki entered the room.

“Unbelievable! Can you believe it?” he exclaimed in a deep angry voice.

“No, I can’t!” Dwyn said. She leaned over to Al. “What can’t we believe?” He shrugged and Derek stomped over.

“I threw one little book at the judge they called security on me! Can you believe that?”

“You attacked a judge?!” Jack exclaimed as he stared at his roommate. Oh, god! Now he had to flee the country!

“Oh, relax! All it did was knock out his tooth! I got out on bail after they took me to jail. But you should have heard the things they called me as the carried me out of the court room.” he huffed as he folded his arms. “They said I was mad! Insane!”

“Well, aren’t you?” Dwynwen asked as she finished the 12oz of soda.

“Well, yes! But they don’t have to say it! *Sigh!* Oh, well. At least I don’t have to worry about Jury duty anymore.” Derek said with a sigh. Then he saw that Al and Dwynwen were eating bonbons. “Ooh, bonbons!” he said as he sat on the other side of Dwynwen.

Jack glared at them all.

“Those two don’t count. They’re not people. They’re nutcases.”

“Hey!” said Derek and Al. “Well, it’s true.” they had to agree.

“And that is why I hired a counselor today.” he continued, ignoring them.

“Oh, that’s nice– What?!” exclaimed Dwynwen as she straightened up.

“Aw, man... You turned your own sister into the man? That’s not cool, man.” said Al.

“I did not turn her into the man! The counselor’s a woman. And I am doing this in Dwyn’s best interest. She needs to get help before it’s too late!”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about! Why she reminds me of myself when I was young.” said Derek. Jack stared at him, then turned to Dwynwen and repeated,

“Like I said, you need help. Now go get changed. She’ll be here any moment.”

“And what makes you think I’ll go through with this?” Dwynwen frowned.

“I’ll give you 20 bucks.” said Jack.

“Has anyone seen my shirt?” Dwynwen asked as she looked around the room for her shirt.

“I think it’s somewhere in your room.” said Al. Dwynwen gave a moan.

“Great...” she said as she stood. Then she stood and put a hand on Derek’s shoulder. “If I don’t come back, I want you to have my rock collection,” Then to Al she added, “You stay away from my funeral.” Derek grasped her arm.

“Godspeed, woman.” he said.

“Wait! Why can’t I go to your funeral?” Al asked.

“Because you’ll bring that stinky incense with you.” Dwyn said as she scrunched her nose. “It’s gonna be bad enough with all the dead people smell, I don’t need that stuff.” She then took a deep breath as she faced her room. “I’m going in.” she muttered to herself. Then she charged into her room, prepared for battle.

The boys heard screams, the hissing of cats, and even a wolf howl. They all shared a look with each other.

“Nah, I don’t want to know,” said Jack. Then he turned to the other two. “Now, you two get out of here.”

“What?!”

“I don’t want you here when the consoler gets here. Now go!” ordered Jack.

“Fine. I have more fun on the streets anyways.” said Al as he stood, making sure to grab the bonbons.

“Unhand that candy this moment you rat scallion!” Derek yelled as he ran after him.

“Not on your life, communist!” said Al as he ran. When they were both out of the room, Jack shut the door.

God, he hoped Dwynwen wouldn’t turn out like them.

A few minutes later, the door bell rang. Jack set down the book he was reading, which was titled, ‘What to do when you live in a house full of crazy people’, and got up.

He walked over to the door and opened it. His jaw dropped and his eyes widened at the sight that beheld him.

Standing in front of his door was a beautiful woman wearing a pink business dress, a black shirt, and a pink hat with sunglasses.

“Is this the Stone’s apartment?” she asked, her voice like the soft chimes of bells. Jack snapped back to reality.

“Uh, yes. Yes... Um, are you Miss Yin?” he asked, trying to regain his composure.

“Yes,” the woman said as she removed her round sunglasses to reveal her soft, heavenly crystal blue eyes. “You must be Mr. Jack Stone.” she said as she held out her hand.

“Yes! Yes, I am. Um, please come in, come in. My sister will be here in just a second.” Jack said as he shook her hand, the stepped aside to let her in. “Dwyn! Get out here! Now!” he yelled.

“Coming!” Dwynwen yelled. They heard a loud roar, and then Dwynwen came stumbling out, pulling on a dark green robe that matched her slippers.

“Okay, I’m here.” she said as she straightened herself out.

“Why aren’t you wearing actual clothes?” Jack asked, scowling.

“I couldn’t find a clean shirt. Or pants. I looked, but I couldn’t find any. And I hope you know how lucky I am to be alive!” replied Dwynwen as she tied her robe closed.

“You are not properly dressed for our guest!”

“Oh, I don’t mind... Really.” Miss Yin interrupted politely. Jack calmed down.

“Well, I’ll just leave you two alone.” he said as he literally dragged himself from the room.

When Dwynwen and Miss Yin were alone, there was a awkward silence.

“Sooo...” said Dwynwen, trying to break the uncomfortable silence. “Miss Yin, nice to meet cha. What do you want to talk about?”

“The truth is Miss Stone, I did not come here to... council you in the way your brother wants.” Miss Yin said, getting straight to the point.

“Oh. Well, that’s a relief. So why are you here?” Dwynwen asked as she plopped onto a leather sofa chair. Miss Yin had very serious look as she bent down to look Dwynwen in the eye.

“Your world is in terrible danger. If we do not act soon, there will be nothing left to save.”she said. Dwyn blinked.

“Um... Save it from what?” she asked.

“The immortal of earth Hung-Shu. He is trying to erase both our worlds, and you’re the only one who can stop him.” Miss Yin told her. Dwynwen stared at her.

“Okay... Ether you’ve been drinking, or you’ve been talking to Mr. Wiz down the hall.” she said as she stood.

“This is no joke young one. Your world really is in danger, and you’re the only one who can save it.” Miss Yin tried to convince her.

“Puh-leez!! Look, lady, I live in apartment building full of nutcases! I was apart of a circus, and I was a clown. You’re going to have to wake up pretty early in the morning to...” Dwynwen trailed off as she opened her curtain and saw a black light come from the sky and made a tall building disappeared. Just like that. She blinked. “Okay...Looks like you got up pretty early....” she muttered as she closed the curtain and staggered to her small kitchen. “But I haven’t left this apartment in a year unless it was shop for my anime, and I don’t plan to leave, even if the world’s coming to a end.” she said as she leaned on a counter. The woman sighed.

“You leave me no choice, Miss Stone.” She waved her hand and suddenly a kitchen chair came to life and scooped Dwynwen in it and began to sped out of the room.

“Whaahahahhhhaaaaaaaaaa!!!!” Dwynwen screamed as the went down the many stairs. “Whoa! Hey! Hey! Wait! Can’t we talk about this?!” But the chair ignored her pleas and they zoomed past a old man wearing a wizard hat.

“Okay Wiz, you were right! Evil possessed chairs do exist!” she yelled as they zoomed by him.

“I told you!” The man yelled after them. “And you still owe me for that new game instalment.”

The chair skidded out of the building and into the street, going faster than most of the cars. No one seemed to notice that the black beams of light was making things disappear. Dwynwen turned to her left and saw a young girl looking at her out her car window. She waved at the young girl just before the chair spend a little faster.

I wonder if there’s a speed limit on driving chairs...’ Dwynwen wondered as she turned to face forward. She screamed when she saw a traffic cop in front of her.

“Move out of the way! Move out of the way! I don’t have brakes!!” she screamed. The traffic guard just turned towards them then let out a loud yell just before the chair ran him over.

Dwynwen turned in the chair, to see if he was alright. He seemed to be alive and moving...

I wonder if I can be charged with hit and run!

The chair finally stopped in front of the subway stairs. Dwynwen fell out of the chair at the sudden stop.

“Ow... Okay! Never want to do that again!” she moaned as she pushed herself up. She glanced down the subway stairs. It looked abandoned. “Am I suppose to go down there?” The chair seemed to nod. “Forget it! There’s no way I’m going down there!” The chair moved forward a little. “Okay! Okay, I’m going!” Dwynwen said, jumping away from the chair and holding her hands up. Suddenly a doomsayer came up.

“We’re all gonna die! The world is coming to a end!” he yelled.

“You don’t know the half of it.” Dwynwen mumbled as she ascended the subway stairs. It was really old, and looked abandoned for there were cobwebs, spiders and rats everywhere.

“Okay, Miss Yin! You kidnaped me and now I’m here, so where’s the magical portal that’s suppose to take me to wherever?” she asked, joking as she jumped in the empty railroad tracks. Suddenly, a bright swirling golden vortex appeared in front of her.

“I was kidding!! AHHH!!” she screamed just before she was sucked in.

She was spinning and turning as she traveled through the portal. Everything was bright and she could just barely see the golden surroundings. Finally the portal spat her out on to a stone cold floor.

“Oww...” she moaned as she slowly pushed herself up. “I guess this is what I get for leaving my house.” She looked around and noticed that she was in a old tomb like place. She could hear the sound of a river around her, and in the center of the room was a old stone coffin.

“Where... Am I?” she wondered.

“You’re in my tomb.” said a voice suddenly. Dwynwen jumped as she screamed loudly. Standing near the coffin was man with long golden hair that shined like sunshine and silver moon eyes. He was very handsome and looked no older than 23, but what shocked Dwynwen the most was that he was the she could see through him! “Sorry. Did I frighten you?” he asked, with a adorable naive look.

“A little!” exclaimed Dwynwen, as she scurried back into a wall. “Who are you? And what do you mean by your tomb?” The man smiled a little at Dwynwen’s fright.

“Let’s start with my name, shall we? My name is Xuanzang.” he said.

“Wait. Xuanzang? The Xuanzang from ‘The Journey West’?” asked Dwynwen.

“You’ve heard of me?” he blinked, surprised.

“Of course! You’re a legend! I’ve always wanted to meet you!!” Dwynwen said, very excited. How many people actually got to meet the Xuanzang? Xuanzang chuckled a little.

“I am glad to hear I am remembered,” he said as he smiled charmingly. Dwynwen blushed a little. Who knew dead monks could be so charming? Then he became serious.“But we have more important matters to discus.”

“You mean Hung-Shu?” Dwynwen asked, remembering what Miss Yin had said to her. Xuanzang’s eyes sadden.

“So you know.” he said.

“A little. Miss Yin mentioned it just before a building was destroyed. Well, actually it disappeared, but still. Who is this guy? And what does he have against my world?” Dwynwen asked. Xuanzang looked sadder.

“I am not sure. All I know is that he is destroying your world in order to create his own.” he said.

“Oh, great...” Dwynwen muttered to herself. “So that’s what happening.”

“So you know the importance of this and why you must accept this task.” said Xuanzang, as he floated closer.

“Whoa! Whoa! I’m not accepting any task! Okay, look! I’m happy to meet you and all, but I was force here! Miss Yin made a chair that kidnaped me and ran over a cop on the way here, mind you!” said Dwynwen. “There’s no way I’m fighting some ancient, powerful psycho! Okay? I am just a 15 year old girl, who’s life goal is to be a reclusive hermit, and I am very good at it, thank you! I’m not going to go and you can’t make me!” she pouted stubbornly as she crossed her arms. Xuanzang sighed.

“I understand. You are young, and obviously frighten. It’s alright.” he said.

“It is?” asked Dwynwen as she raised a eyebrow.

“Yes,” he said pleasantly as he smiled. “So what if your world’s destroyed and all of humankind are completely erased from existence and time it’s self. Oh, and please don’t let the fact that you could have done something to prevent it, haunt you for the rest of your life, which may be very short.” Dwynwen glared at him.

“Nice try, but guilt doesn’t work on me.” she said.

“True. But like I said, you’re probably just a frightened little girl who wants to go back to her already falling apart world, and hide under her bed.” he said with another sigh.

“I’m glad you understand.” Dwynwen said. She wasn’t going to let herself be baited, no way. There was nothing from this world he could offer her to make Dywn want to take on this journey.

“It’s just a shame you be able to gain the treasure.” he suddenly said.

“Treasure?” Dywn blinked, suddenly interested.

“Yes, if you succeeded in defeating Huang-Shu, I know Buddha would reward you with treasure beyond your dreams.” The hermit frowned up at him.

“This isn’t one of those ‘true enlightenment’ treasures, is it?” The priest laughed.

“No. Although, you will gain that as well.” Just imagining the treasure made Dywn heart beat faster.

With that treasure, she and Jack could get a real house! They could finally go to Disney World! Hell, they could buy Disney World!

“Very well, then! I’ll do it to save the world! I’ll help you do whatever it is you’re going to do as long as I don’t have to sell my soul or anything. So how do we stop a god?” Xuanzang smiled.

“Thank you for agreeing. First, you need to find a scripture that my disciples and I could not retrieve.”

“Which is...?”

“I am not sure what it is called. Lord Buddha never told me; All he said was that if understood and used right, it can the strongest of all the scriptures and the most dangerous. That is why it was sealed long ago in Soku-no-Kumi. King Enda was suppose to protect it, but I believe something has happened to him.” Xuanzang explained. Then his face became very serious. “We must go down to Soku-no-Kumi and find out what has happened.”

“Wait! So we have to go to hell? Look, I know I’m greedy, selfish, lazy, easily irritated, and I lie a lot. I’ll even admit I sometimes ‘borrow’ stuff from Jack without telling him and never return it, but I’m not that bad! And I really can’t fight the forces of hell! And while we’re on that subject, how are we suppose to get that scripture? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m not a warrior! And you’re dead!” exclaimed Dwynwen. Xuanzang chuckled.

“Don’t worry. I cannot fight or anything, because I am dead, but I shall guide you as best as I can. And my former disciple, Son Wukong, will be your teacher. He shall also guide and tech you. Also you will have the help of my other disciples. You do not have to take on this burden alone,” he said as he reached out to her. “Also... I shall be with you... until our task is done.” Dwynwen reached out to him and when they touched there was a bright flash of light and Dwynwen felt a cool, clam, gentle presence in her mind.

Well, here’s the redone version. I edited it, made a few changes but nothing big.

By the way, the reason I haven’t been

Oh, by the way, here’s a little note:

Dwynwen’s name is Welsh. The variant of Welsh Dwynwen, itself from Welsh Dwyn “to steal” and (g)wyn “fair, holy, and white.”

And Xuanzang is also known as Tripitaka, and(more famously) Sanzo.

And yes I changed the villain. Why? I felt like it.
