Chapter Topic: the Morning Glory

The Morning Glory is a majestic, beautiful flower, full of grace and a mystery to its beholder. Do you know why it’s called the Morning Glory? No? Read the name it should give some hint as to WHY it’s called that. Still don’t get it? The Morning Glory is a flower that will only bloom at a certain time of day, after that it closes its petals and withdraws within itself, waiting patiently for a new day to throw its petals out into the open.

Do you know who represents the Morning Glory? Kurama, Youko Kurama, otherwise known as Shuiichi Minamino.

One bloom of the flower, he is Youko, King of Thieves, on a raid with Kuronue. They are stealing a mirror when Kuronue looses his pendant and goes after it. The sun is sinking; Kuronue is killed while getting back his pendant. The sun has reached high noon, the flower is closing, and hunters catch Youko.

Second bloom of the flower, he is now Shuiichi Minamino, a caring student however he is cold towards others and is secretly planning to leave once he reaches the age of 10. The flower is reaching high noon, his mother scars her arms for him, sacrificed herself for him. The sun is at high noon, he cannot bring himself to leave, and he feels guilty. The flower has closed again; he has not left Ningenkai for Makai.

The third bloom of the flower; he is now Kurama, a mix of both Youko AND Shuiichi. The sun is reaching towards the middle of the sky; Kurama is about to sacrifice his life for his mother, Shiori. The sun is almost there; at the last moment Yusuke Urameshi saves Kurama. The sun is at high noon; Kurama has not ended his life, this time he is waiting, patiently for a new day.

The Morning Glory is also very beautiful, a pale purple with stripes of darker lavender going outwards from the center of the flower with a beautiful speck of white in the middle. As the white reaches out it turns yellow. Youko is the white, he turns into yellow, Shuiichi, and then they blend together in the middle creating Kurama. But you cannot see this from the outsides; from the outside you see purple with stripes of lavender. Purple the façade all see on normal bases, the strips of lavender are much more important, but not as important as the yellow or white. The strips of lavender are what attract, what bring other towards him, and also repel others from his dangers; they show that he is different. They prove that he is not the same as other flowers. Youko Kurama is the Morning Glory.
