Hey! It’s me again. This one has been in my head for a couple of days now, and I know that I have another story on the go ‘Crash’ but I just couldn’t resist writing this down… it wont be very long any way…
Disclaimer: I do not own anything to do with CSI that goes for all my other stories as well…
Chapter 1 - The explosion
--
Sara and Nick were in the ballistics lab.
Greg, Grissom and Catherine were looking through old evidence.
Warrick and Brass were on a job.
And a bomb, in the ceiling, was slowly ticking down to naught.
--
“Hey Nick?” Sara asked glancing up from her work.
“Yeah Sar?”
“What are you doing tomorrow night?” she bit her bottom lip and glanced up to she his expression. At first
he seemed confused. He had every right to be. Sara thought, but suddenly his confused look changed into a huge grin and he looked directly at her.
“Why Sara, are you asking me out? Tut tut I’m disappointed in you” He said. Oh my god, I can’t believe Sara just practically asked me out! Saves me a job…He thought to himself.
Just great Sar, now not only have you made things awkward between you and him, you’ve humiliated yourself as well. I should’ve known Nick wasn’t into co-workers seeing each other out side of work. She frowned and this didn’t go un-noticed by Nick. He quickly changed his face from a grin to a frown to match Sara’s. Damn, maybe she wasn’t thinking that, and now I’ve made things awkward. Great your one chance at getting a date Nick and you blow it. Just great.
Before either Nick or Sara, could say another word to each other a loud explosion ripped through the building and the ceiling above them came crashing down. Devouring Nick and Sara.
--
“Grissom, I mean why to I of all people have to be here, don’t you think that you and Catherine would’ve managed on your own?” Greg asked, clearly rather annoyed from being asked to participate in sorting out old evidence.
“Greg. You wanted training and here you go. If you want to become a good CSI you need to know how to do everything, including sorting out old evidence.” Grissom replied and carried on with what he was doing.
Catherine looked over at Greg and couldn’t help but smile as he huffed and puffed, so dramatically. She shook her head still laughing, and looked back to her pile.
Hey what’s this? She thought as she rummaged through her pile.
“Hey Griss-” she was suddenly cut off as a loud explosion ripped throughout the building, and debris started falling down on them.
--
Warrick and Brass were just finishing up a crime scene. It had turned out the wife, who had been on the scene, had killed her husband after she found out he had been cheating on her with another woman. Seeing as it turned out to be an easy case, Warrick and Brass decided that seeing as it was a fairly simple case, they would head back to the lab and see if any of the others need their help. Now they were on their way back to Warrick’s SUV.
“Oh hell Warrick, I erm left my scanner with one of the other officers when I came to help you. I’m gonna go get it okay?”
“Yeah sure Brass, I’ll turn it around, the soon as we get out of here the better, I’m parched.” He said mostly to himself and started to turn the truck around.
--
When Sara opened her eyes, she heard a few distance voices, shouting, but non of them recognisable. What the hell happened. She thought. Then she remembered. The case. The awkwardness between her and Nick. The Noise. Nick. Oh god, she had completely forgot about him. She sat her and scanned the rubble which once was the ballistics lab. No Nick. Thank god. She thought to herself. He must of got out before the damn ceiling give way. That’s when she saw it. A hand sticking up from the debris. She was sure she heard herself gasp as she made crawled closer, and saw his familiar ring on his finger. Oh god. No he’ll be fine. It’s Nick. She finally made it close enough to feel his pulse. No pulse. She tried again. No pulse. She couldn’t let his life end this way. Covered in debris. In his own workplace. Suddenly as she heard more shouting, from what sounded like rescuers, she remembered she had a voice. And she shouted. She shouted for her. But mostly she shouted for Nick.
“Help! He’s not breathing!”
--
After debris started to fall Grissom grabbed Catherine’s hand and in returned she grabbed Greg’s. and together they ran. From what they could tell they were running towards the break room. It was dark and debris was every where. As they got closer to the break room a large section of the ceiling give way and missed Catherine by mere feet. They all seemed to gasp in unison. Nobody had uttered a word since they took off running. Catherine was the first to break the silence as they turned around and began running towards the ballistics lab.
“Are you both okay guys?” This seemed to bring both Greg and Grissom out of their trances and they both nodded simultaneously. Before they could get any closer to the ballistics lab they saw that it was blocked off. As they turned around, they heard shouting, possibly those of rescuers. Before Grissom could shout. They heard something. Grissom stopped, his jaw hit the floor. Greg held on to Catherine for support. And Catherine suddenly went into auto-pilot. What they heard was Sara. Sara shouting “Help! He’s not breathing!”
--
Warrick had turned the truck around and was now waiting for Brass to return so he could get the hell out of there. There were just some things he couldn’t understand like, why, if somebody cheats on you, you decide that it’s okay for you to bludgeon them to death with the first solid thing you can find. He looked through his rear-view mirror, only to see brass running up to his truck, with a worried expression on his face and his scanner glued to his ear.
“War….It’s….Lab… An…” Brass stuttered, finding that he needed to know right away he handed Warrick the scanner.
“Remember Brass. Deep breathes now.” He snickered
“Just…List…” He said pointing to the scanner. Warrick did as he was told as Brass jumped into the SUV.
Brass watched as Warrick’s face paled. He felt so sorry for the guy.
“Code red, I repeat code red, we have multiple injuries, multiple officers down! We need the bomb squad here, and the fire engines. Multiple people trapped. All units, I repeat all units, to the Las Vegas Crime lab!”
Warrick’s reaction was pure fear. He feared that his friends wouldn’t make it. He feared that he’d be alone. He was afraid, for whatever situation they were all stuck in now. So he put his foot on the gas, and sped to work…
